Food - 8/10 Service - 8/10 Great brunch place, it's a cute little place with a more rustic feel. The workers were really nice and we were able to get a table quickly even though they were busy. The food was good definitely needed to add a little hot sauce to it though.

Adorable spot in downtown Northampton! I've been to Jake's a number of times over the years, and it continues to deliver top-quality food every single time. I've never once been disappointed! Most recently, my boyfriend and I split a sweet-and-savory combo--the Downtown scramble and a stack of buttermilk chocolate chip pancakes--and it hit every craving perfectly. The pancakes were fluffy and rich, and the Downtown was hearty and well-seasoned. The staff is always so kind and welcoming, and the vibe is cozy without feeling cramped. Between the consistently great service and amazing food, Jake's remains one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for a reliable, delicious brunch!

Another hidden gem while traveling! Cute place, great food. Portions and prices are great. Enjoyed the eggs Benedict. Many varieties of eggs Benedict to choose from, do wish they had it the classic with Canadian bacon. Must try the hot cider .

We stopped here for breakfast. A nice place with really good food and attentive service. It has the feel of a small pub.

"I'll trust in you And know that you Will wait for me" (Lennon and McCartney) Jake's (next door to the old Calvin Theater which has sadly closed) was jam packed when we arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday morning. It was a 45-minute wait before we were seated at an outdoor table. Our fantastic server, Amina, told us Jake's is always busy on the weekends because its one of the very few places in Northampton that serves a brunch type meal. Their menu reflects their 8-3 hours, so we saw plenty of eggs and hash dishes, plus french toast, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast sandwiches. If you don't want to go the breakfast route, have no worries because Jakes's has salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, chili, and bowls. They also have some specials hidden on the back of the drink menu, and we missed them completely. We ordered their breakfast tacos and they were fantastic. Each taco was a double corn tortilla packed with scrambled eggs, black beans and a delicious pico de gallo. I could have added a protein (one option was a soy), but I really didn't need it because the tacos were huge. And were a great bargain at just $8. My wife ordered a single buttermilk pancake ($7) with a chocolate chip upgrade ($1), and it was a pretty good sized pancake. The food was great, but I thought their $3.50 charge for a coffee or an iced coffee was a bit high. Anyway, we had a lovely brunch, the food was great, and Amina was a real delight to interact with.

After finishing a race in the area, I was dying for sustenance, specifically, a burger. Jake's looked like it had plenty of options. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, not bad at all, and we spent some time wandering around the area and looking at shops before our name was called. (They utilize the nifty Yelp waitlist, so you can track where you are in line.) Burger was simple but excellent (as someone who's not usually into red meat), held together okay, and had a tasty sauce. If you get all the options like my husband (guac, egg, bacon), it will absolutely require a fork and knife to eat, but I like to keep my burger simple and didn't have any issues with things plopping out along the sides. I was in the mood for fries but they only offered home fries, so went with cole slaw instead. Curry tomato bisque was solid, with a mild kick. I primarily wanted something hot. The table next to us was gushing about the hash and eggs Benedict, so if we're ever in the area again, I'll try that. Our waiter was super nice and food came out blessedly quickly. Parking: no issues finding a street spot nearby, and parking is free on Sundays.

We just moved to the area from Texas, so we have been on the look out for a new breakfast place. Jake's is everything we have been looking for. Lemonade- Slaps 10/10 Coffee- Slaps 10/10 Andouille Sausage Hash- Slaps 10/10 Pancake Sammie- SLAPS 1000000/10 Service was fast and friendly, and the restaurants vibes are immaculate.

This place is amazing. They have the BEST eggs Benedict I have ever had. The first photo is the eggs Benedict I got 2 years ago and the second photo is the eggs Benedict I got today. They were both consistent in their flavor and their perfectly poached eggs. There are sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and garlic cloves in the dish and it is out of this world! I order the vegetable Benedict every time. I sat at the bar today and the service was excellent. If you have not been here before, you definitely need to. They serve both breakfast and lunch. They are open seven days a week from 8-3. I will be back again!

Luckily, there was a perfect corner of the bar had just opened & we grabbed the seats. The atmosphere was convivial, upbeat & super comfortable, despite the crowd. Service was fabulously friendly & competent - the bartender handling the packed house with ease. We decided to go with an array of small plates to try as much as possible. The menu it designed perfectly for grazing & the prices are super reasonable! The selections are definitely on the comfort-food side with a strong southern hint. Ingredients are often locally sourced - something I greatly admire. We began with the a small plate of Pimento Cheese Toast. Just a few bites each but a nice start. Duck Drumettes. The horseradish-y white sauce was delectable! Even my non-duck loving partner was blown away. I was happy to hear that the salad was available in a half portion - enough for a light fresh break to our heavy selections. Next came a much heavier choice - the gravy fries with duck confit. We left off the cheese, but it wasn't missed at all. These were decadent, delicious & super filling! Next time we'd get a half portion - that would have been plenty! Our final dish was the Shrimp & Grits, but we'd already filled up on the other dishes & ended up asking for this to go. Even reheated, it was a perfectly delicious accompaniment to our brunch the next day! I'd be tempted to order this to-go again for just that purpose. While we didn't imbibe, the cocktail list looked wonderful & the bar was very well stocked. We did enjoy a nice selection from the interesting beer list. The sandwiches that we saw come out looked delicious & huge! We'd love to try them as well. We will be back - this is certainly a new favorite for us!

ORIGIN: Khalliah Murphy (aka Lady K) enjoyed cooking since…read moreshe was a little girl. After completing culinary school, Murphy started a Yonkers-based catering company, and later, in 2016, moved north to open a brick and mortar cafe -- Lady K's Southern Comfort. LOCATION: Lady K's Southern Comfort is located in a small strip mall along Violet Avenue/Route 9G. Ample parking is available. CONCEPT: Lady K's offers quintessential southern comfort food, such as rice with pigeon peas and slow cooked savory collard greens, however tastes of other culinary heritages, such as empanadas, are sprinkled across the menu. Lady K's primarily offers dishes that represent home cooked southern meals -- on site, as take out, or custom catered events. SERVICE: One thing that stands out about Lady K's Southern Comfort is the homey feeling. This extends to the service. During my weekend afternoon visit Khalliah and Shawn Murphy's daughter and son were eagerly helping (Little K and Littlest K). Although customers place their orders at the counter, I was still asked whether I liked what I had chosen. My response brought a proud smile to Little K's face! EXPERIENCE: Plates are available in three sizes, with a protein and two choice of sides. I experienced the small fried chicken with collard greens and macaroni and cheese on the side. Khalliah's family were known for their fried chicken recipe in their Bronx neighborhood, so it comes as no surprise that the chicken was expertly executed -- crisp, non-greasy exterior encasing juicy, moist interior at every bite. Complementing this was the collard greens, in which multiple flavors were married and had just the right amount of vinegary flavor. Next time I will ask for double sides of collard greens -- it's that outstanding! While multiple tables are set up for dining, Lady K's is currently primarily set up for take out. Although photos on Yelp suggest there was plated service in the past, all food is now served in compartmented styrofoam take out containers. This was my only disappointment as I feel household plates and utensils would reflect the homey dishes for those who are looking to dine in. TIPS: Check Lady K's Facebook profile for rare temporary changes in daily hours. Kool Aid is one of the beverage options. I have never seen that before in a menu and I think it's available adds to the homey aspect of the meals prepared at offered at Lady K's Southern Comfort. Kool Aid was a staple in homes in my neighborhood, and the cheerfully colored packets of flavoring powders are rarely found in grocery stores today.
