Jalapeño Loco opened up recently (about a month ago) and I am already planning my next visit with them! The People working there were so helpful and very nice to me when I was looking at the menu and asking for suggestions. The atmosphere is fun and casual, perfect for a group or a couple. Tonight it was just me and my husband and we really enjoyed our time in the place. The music was pleasant and not too loud... I say that because I have been at many restaurants that the music was so loud no one could enjoy our meal. The food was REALLY good! I had been noticing this place for about the last month and so I decided to give them a try. Walking in, the ambiance was fun and festive. Their holiday decor was still up, and while part of it was that, even if I took that away, the place is decorated in a fun way. The service here was very good. The gentleman at the counter was helpful in helping us figure out the menu. I ended up with 2 Gringo Tacos and a Bean & Cheese Taco. We also shared a Chips Trio, which came with Salsa, Queso, and Guacamole. While they were good, the Chips were not as fresh as they could have been and lacked some crispness that would have been nice. Overall, the restaurant is modest w/ 2 rows of booths & 2 large (say 55-60", perhaps a little larger) TVs; each mounted on the opposing walls playing (at the time) Spanish music videos/concerts. The menu's also fairly limited, but that was expected given I thought it was a street-taco joint; however, for that to be their "speciality," along w/ Mexican food, in general, I found EVERYTHING I ORDERED TO NOT ONLY BE BLAND AS ALL GET-OUT & LACKING IN ANY FLAVOR, MUCH LESS DEMONSTRATED EXPERTISE IN THE FOOD THEY "SPECIALIZE" IN, BUT ALSO, TRULY, INAUTHENTIC (BESIDES THE TWO (2) FLIES IN MY FOOD BOXES, which if it were outdoors, might [& I want to emphasize MIGHT], yet would still be unlikely to occur, due to food preparation outdoors ON THE STREET...even w/ professional cooks/chefs seeking to be/remain professional businesses). BUT, again, this is NOT an outdoor facility, so this was not only unacceptable, but also disgusting -- one flew out of the box as opened & I couldn't kill/photograph; the second fly, however, remained crawling all around & throughout the 3 Chicken Flautas a-la-carte ordered (the attached photo shows the dead fly in the center "box/take-out carton" in the napkin). Obviously, that was immediately a "this is going in the trash," item. Aside from the Flautas, I also ordered their Chips & Queso, as well as their 3 Street Taco deal, as well as added a 4th b/c a family member wanted to try their Chicken Taco. The tacos ordered were ALL based on the person in charge's (perhaps the manager or owner; I'm not sure but she was the person behind the register & greeted me as I walked in from behind the counter -- the only other person working there was the cook, who I didn't know worked there even upon first entering, but I'll discuss further in a moment when I get to discussing personnel/service)). She said I should get the Carne Asada (which effectively looked like cooked ground hamburger meat, NOT STEAK; & it tasted like cheap burger meat too); the Barbacoa (which at least looked correct but similarly lacked any flavor for having been "slow-cooked" like Barbacoa is made), & 2 Chicken tacos (the chicken, again, looked "right," as it looked like it was char-grilled, small fajita pieces; yet, again, they tasted like that of Tyson fajita meat cooked in a pan w/ oil that gets that golden coloring from the pan, & similarly had ZERO taste -- just like Tyson meat b/c it's already precooked so it's almost impossible to infuse it, at that point, w/ much flavor from seasoning when you're effectively "finishing" the cooking of said chicken) . THE CHICKEN TACO WAS AT LEAST EDIBLE THOUGH & EXACTLY LIKE YOU'D GET IF MADE AT HOME W/ TYSON FAJITA MEAT. Adding the raw onions, lime, & cilantro along with/ both their red & green sauces made it passable, but they're definitely not anything to seek out or that you couldn't make at home for significantly less money. This is ALSO TRUE OF THEIR QUESO. AGAIN, like the tacos, THERE WAS ZERO TASTE/FLAVOR beyond cheese. Their queso, at least in taste & appearance, was IDENTICAL to that which you get in a cup at the movie theater or at a baseball game. And the chips were stale as hell. This was, again, ANOTHER IMMEDIATE INTO THE TRASH box/take-out container. For approx $25 (plus tip which I never should've left but the check-out has one of those already requested tips of 15%, 20%, etc., & I just clicked the lowest amount vs going through the steps to remove the tip but they hadn't even cooked it yet, or I would have after seeing the cook get up finally from a booth after I finished paying & waiting for the head person to tell her she had an order -- obvious though since I was the only person in there), I ate one (1) Chicken taco & my family member ate half of hers. Their rest went back in the bag & into the trash. I will NEVER return there, nor will I ever even discuss, much less recommend, this place to anyone. I'm truly shocked anyone has given it anything beyond the minimum 1 star. Overall, I'd have enjoyed burning the $25 more than even attempting to try & eat their food. Personally, it's negative stars across the board from me, but I have to give 1 stars by design. read more

What can I say! We've been there twice now and the food, service and staff are top notch! Dressed out in true Mexican decor, there's three big screens to watch. One had a cooking show showing how to make authentic dishes. One had a soccer game going on, GOOOOOOOAL! And the third was tuned to various singing performances with complete back up bands. There's a wide assortment of dishes on the menu along with specials of the day posted at the entrance. If you can't decide, the staff is glad to help with your selection. Although, everything we've tried along with other guests we've sat near agree that all of the food was delicious. Yes, it takes a little time to arrive, but it's all made from scratch (no fast food or cutting corners) plus there's chips, salsa and all types of beverages to choose from. The staff continues to check back at your table to offer additional foods, like dessert or more chips and salsa, confirm that you are enjoying your meal and asking if there's any problems or questions. There's a lot going on in the strip center because of other businesses, but there's a good deal of parking as well. We've recommended Jalapeño Loco to friends and family and look forward to our next visit. read more

**Update to my previous review**. Still 5 stars for us. It's still delicious and found out the tortillas are hand made daily, which were great. Had the tacos again. Nopales (cactus) chicken tinga and the asada (steak). All delicious. They have more items on the menu that I look forward to eating, such as the Mexican burger. Place is on Campbell near UTD. Atmosphere is nice and very clean, with good music and service. Oh and serve breakfast all day. read more

Was excited about a new place nearby but we went there towards the end of the night and it terrible. In a quick rush I think I ordered a carne asada burrito and my wife ordered an empanada and Gordita. My food came out quite a bit before hers and did not taste fresh. Her food came out and was definitely more fresh. I opened my burrito and found only a few pieces of beef but to be fair the food my wife ordered was not bad. read more

I had several of the street tacos and they were really good. Homemade corn tortillas were great. Nice hot sauce if you like a little heat. Owners are really nice and very helpful and the place was comfortable for dine in. Best tacos ai have found in the area so far. I will be back! read more

The quesabirra tacos had no flavor the consume was VERY watery & the sauces had no taste, however the atmosphere and service was very nice . But I do not recommend if you are wanting good tacos read more

First time to the place and it did not disappoint. Authentic atmosphere. With a large menu. Not too crowded for a Friday night. I ordered a carna asada street taco with a homemade fresh tortilla and it was soo good - hot, fluffy tortilla with tasty steak bites. The best. I also had the chicken tosdado which was tasty but felt it lacked a little flavor. Overall great experience and will definitely come back. read more
