Affordable and tasty. I was looking for the Mexican breakfast restaurant Friday morning and I was around Medical city. There were a couple of other restaurants, but I decided to visit here because of the good review. The restaurant itself was small and all tables/chairs were not available because of the Covid 19. On the front door, I found the notification "no mask, no service" and I like that since there are so many restaurants who don't care about the safety protocol. Inside the restaurant, as you see on the menu, they have many options about burritos and tacos, also others. I chose a burrito and 3 tacos, all of them are tasty. The reason of the stars is 1). I wanted less oily in the burrito , they have eggs and chorrizo (I picked), but egg was somehow a bit oily. 2). The shell (flower) of tacos were dried up and got hardened. But it was not too bad to rate it as less than 4 stars. And price was $9 for above. Worth a try, what do you think ?

    Giving the bbq a try

Summary: Hole-in-the-wall with decent and inexpensive street taco's and sub-par straight BBQ. Observations: Brisket: Co-workers and I all found it to be on the dry side and the bark barely had any flavor. Ribs: Noticeably better, at least the thicker parts were (thin parts were like jerky) Quesadilla: quite large had a surprising amount of cheese compared to the finely chopped chicken Sides: Green bean side had small bits of ham in it, and the charro beans had small winnie sausages in it.

Came in here for a quick lunch with a friend who has been here before. They have really affordable and reasonably priced meals and their taste is nothing short of amazing. It's an authentic Mexican cuisine place that specializes in tacos and quesadillas. I tried their chicken quesadillas and they taste so cheesy and good. They give you the option for red and green salsa with your meal and I tried their red salsa which was perfect because it is just slightly spicy. I'll make sure to come back again and try other menu items as well as their green salsa. 10/10

    To-go chicken stuffed baked potato.

We were craving stuffed baked potatoes for dinner, and got on Yelp to find if there were any options besides a chain restaurant potato like Dickey's. I saw the brisket potato on this page and immediately knew this was the place to be -- except I don't ear beef. According to the photos on here, the only meat option for the potato is brisket. I thought about heading to the more boring option, but decided to check to see if they'd accommodate me. They were nothing but nice about it, and advised they could also do sausage or chicken. I went with chicken and we took our potatoes to go. They were massive and delicious. Butter pooled up in the bottom of the take out container, but the potato was still firm and fresh. They pack the bbq sauce in containers and then in shrink wrap to minimize spillage which I thought was GENIUS. The food is inexpensive and tastes awesome. I am excited to go back and eat a meal inside. Definitely check this place out.

I love Mexican food and BBQ, and this hole in the wall was definitely a mix of both! The tacos could use some work though. A little dry and not that fresh. Wouldn't recommend coming here purely for tacos. The burrito and quesadilla portions were HUGE! I've never had a place give you the whole quesadilla, only half. And the burrito was stuffed! Definitely worth the money, very tasteful, and very filling! There's so much more I want to try like the loaded shredded beef baked potato so I'll definitely be coming back again. Not to mention it's very close to UT Dallas so it attracts hungry college students on a budget. Cheap. Flavorful. Filling.

Ok how have I gone to UTD for five years and NEVER heard of this place??? It is a college kid's dream! Authentic tacos AND barbecue??? My boyfriend and I went after finding this place on Yelp and we're officially obsessed with it. It's a small hole in the wall place, but the staff was kind and everything looked clean. When I asked for a cup for water (trying to save money), the employee just offered me a free water bottle instead, saying that "the tap water here isn't that good." I really appreciated his generosity! I ordered the steak quesadilla and WOAH BABY! It was huge! There was tons of perfectly grilled steak and melty cheese filling up the massive quesadilla. I could only eat half and had enough for a second meal. All for under $7! My boyfriend got the brisket baked potato with BBQ sauce on the side and might have actually fallen in love with it. The brisket was tasty, tender, and piled high on a wonderful baked potato with cheese and butter. We were both really impressed with Tejano BBQ's generosity with the brisket, they weren't stingy at all. Once again, his whole meal was under $7 We'll definitely be back!

First time here, I got the brisket stuffed potato and one brisket taco. Small restaurant with uncomfortably chilly AC. Friendly and knowledgeable cashier. Potato: humongous with lots of meat. BUT the meat isn't seasoned and not the most tender. It's a good, filling meal for $7 but be ready to doctor it up with salt, pepper, and bbq sauce. Taco: meat also not seasoned. It needs lots of green sauce. I will come back to try more items. It's good/not the best but I want to try some other meats and sides before deciding if this place will go in my BBQ rotation.

Hands down my favorite place for tacos in Dallas. Actually It's THE place I compare everything to, from meat to salsas, whether it's from Dallas or out of town. The barbacoa meat is not the usual stringy shredded beef , but it is this special meat they have that is pulled out by the slab and chopped up to order. It is incredibly moist and tasty, but very very rarely is it a tad too fatty. The habanero hot sauce is amazing. Decent flavor, but the heat is perfect. I actually like to mix the tomatillo and habanero together for a nice balance of flavor and heat. I haven't had too much of the BBQ YET, but I have ordered the BBQ potato and it is huge. Top it with your choice of meat and fixings. I opt to have no BBQ sauce and just drown it in salsa instead. Delicious and super filling.

    Burrito!

The name is a little confusing as I never see anyone get the BBQ; however, they should definitely emphasize the "more." The chicken quesadilla is best thing on the menu for me, adding jalapenos into their pico de gallo makes it fantastic. The breakfast tacos are worth mentioning since one taco (more like a burrito is humongous and smells delicious with the egg tucked inside. The other things are the menu are so-so. The meat on the tacos and burritos are pretty try and not super tasty. I love myself some Al Pastor and its always my baseline for new places, but the Al Pastor in my burrito was dry and not very seasoned for me. I'd probably come back for a quesadilla though.

    Super tender meat!
    John P.

Right now you're probably thinking, "Wow! That's a great rating. Should we give this place a try?" Well, part of me wants to tell you NO. Because then all you Yelpers are going to clog up this little hole in the wall. And that's not going to work out for me so well when I want to go get my 3 tacos plus Mexican coke in a bottle for $5.69!!! But I guess I should be honest and tell you that you aren't going to believe how damn good these tacos are! And super cheap!!! In fact, so cheap that it scares me a little... But who cares? By the way, when I first visited the place was packed with Hispanics. And staffed by Hispanics. I was the only gringo in the joint - so you know that's a good sign! Anyway, get your crew over here and maybe order the 25 taco pack for $25.99! As for me, round two has arrived so it's time to chow down... Peace!

My friend absolutely loved the burnt ends. He liked them so much that after we finished the first order, he went back and got a second one, plus some brisket and elote. I thought everything was good, but I will say the menu felt a little limited. This is definitely one of those places where I am glad I finally tried it because it is part of the local DFW BBQ experience, but it is probably not somewhere I would specifically seek out again. That said, if someone wanted to go, I would go again without complaint. I DO want to try the Burndt end bloody mary!

The vibe in this place is really great. The people are friendly. Downtown Plano is cool. The restaurant and bar area are clean, well-attended, and the food and drink are all good. So why only 3-stars? To be fair, I came here on a weeknight around 6:30pm, which is not the best way to judge a BBQ place. I will try to come back on a Friday at lunch time, and I hope things will be epic. Bottom line, I wasn't blown away by the meats! They were well cooked, but the flavor just didn't impress. The Sause (sorry, I'm a Rudy's loyalist) was tasty, but didn't blow my mind. A nice sweet + smoky flavor that worked better with the Spare Ribs than the Brisket. (Another minot note -- I know a lot of BBQ places eschew Baby Back Ribs for Spare Ribs. Lockhart only does Spare Ribs.) Would I come back? 100% Would I recommend that you go here? 100% I have to say the bartender was terrific, and the pit masters were super friendly, so no dis on the staff. I was just hoping for "oh my god" BBQ and didn't quite get there. Still a great visit.

The Texas Twinkie is a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and brisket and wrapped in bacon. It was my favorite item as the cream cheese and bacon balanced out the spiciness of the jalapeño. There is a line that steadily moves, nice outdoor and indoor seating, and if you walk towards the back you can see all the smokers. If you visit on a weekend, try to arrive before noon to avoid long lines. 1 Star. Service - You place your order, take a number, and your order is brought out to you. While you don't get to see the staff cut your meat in front of you, they are very fast and efficient. There are also Hurtado staff who will clear plates off your table. Great people here. 1 Star. Food - I came for the Birria tacos. Hurtado uses their smoked brisket, which shredded and paired will all things that make Hurtado special - Mexico flavors (cilantro, onions, and that beefy consommé). I also ordered a two-meat plate with brisket and bacon burnt ends. The brisket is great (and well represented in many Yelp reviews). On this visit, the bacon burnt ends stole the spotlight.
