The prices are about 1 to 2 dollars less than the rest of the places. I got cheese spinach dip. I got the spinach so I could pretend it was healthy. It was molten cheese deliciousness. The chips that came with it were fresh! I ordered a large salsa. Freshly made. Great melding of ingredients. I got the shredded chicken taco salad. It was probably the best one I have ever had! It was heavy on fresh lettuce, lots of seasoned shredded chicken and cheese. Had big dollaps of sour cream and guac. I added some salsa for a dressing. It was amazing! I thought I was so full from all the chips and cheese, but I ate almost the whole serving. It came in a bread bowl if that's your thing. I also ordered the chicken wrap. Ordered takeout because we were staying nearby. Got home with the food and realized we were missing items from our order, so someone had to run back. The forgotten items were cold. Cheese wasn't even melted. Everything was bland and not appealing. Rice was flavorless and over cooked. My son got ground beef tacos and they had huge chunks of stewed tomatoes on them? Had lunch at this location today. Very disappointed. I ordered Nachos Supreme and they were simply awful. First of all the plate was far too small to navigate a plate of nachos. There was what had to be a 3 inch pile of lettuce piled on top that apparently intended to distract the diner from the fact that the plate was primarily plain tortilla chips. What little toppings there were could only be found at the bottom of the lettuce/dry chip pile. Given the size of the plate this made the dish all but impossible to eat. It was very disappointing. Cancun is far superior to this restaurant in many respects. I will say that the service was good and the server was very friendly and attentive. My husband had Chilaquiles and found them to be very good. Small portion, but good overall. Cancun is far superior to this restaurant in many respects. I've never been more sad that I had to give a business a star to leave a review. First the host tried to sit me at a dirty table but I chose the one further away, it was clean, problem solved. The menu was crowded to me so after looking through and squinting the majority of the time I gave up and resorted to my go-to; carnitas tacos with a side of rice and beans, oh and I ordered a tamale as well. The carnitas tasted like watered down, dried up cheap beef, I was disgusted. The soft and corn shell were old in my opinion; they were all dry around the edges. I've NEVER had to salt and pepper beans and rice at a Mexican restaurant but there's a first time for everything. The beans were watered down and bland, the rice was soggy and tasted like it had been soaking in water. The tamale while the sauce and cheese were good the inside was filled with chunks of dry beef almost similar to what the carnitas tasted and looked like, a dry masa that was thick and drier in certain areas and topped with chunks of dry chicken. I guess I ate more of the chips and salsa than anything else but the chips were super hard as well. To say the least I was super disappointed in the whole meal and for the first time I took nothing home with me. The pictures I'm uploading is of the amount of food that I left at the restaurant. The Food is generally well prepared and tasty. The ambiance is generally typical and loud. Service is generally good most of the time; however, when we ordered the "Table Made" Guacamole. We made the point to pay the extra money for the made at the table feature. It arrived previously prepared which we could have gotten for less money. We should have spoken up about it, but the server put it down and left quickly. Our bad, this time, but it is duly noted for future visits. But generally we will likely go somewhere else next time because this place is only generally okay. read more

Best Mexican in my opinion. There can be off days but for the most part I love this place.

I use to go here a lot. But about 6 months ago my sister and I went and the lettuce was full of water and soggy. We ask the manager for a dif plate. He said it was all like that. No problem. So yesterday I ordered a Texas chimichanga and the tortillas were supposed to be fried. They were not and when I go to pick my food up, it takes me forever, even though there's nobody there to pick it up because they ignore you I won't be back. read more

Doing a great job with social distancing! All employees wore masks. Great job spacing tables for appropriate social distancing. We felt totally comfortable eating here during this trying time. Wonderful to get out & have good 'ol Jalapenos food & margaritas. Masks are required of guests until seated and beverages and food are served ( this rule was followed by 95% of guests , but there are always a few who think the rules don't apply to them...) Visiting from out of town. The waiter was friendly however the server seemed rushed each time he came to our table. We requested a side of queso and was changed $9 for a small bowl. It's listed as an appetizer but was unaware. Who orders queso for an appetizer?? Very disappointed. Please just asked what is extra as the waiter won't warn you. They expect you to read and know. Very sad my sister paid alone an extra $13 for small bowels of extra cheese and queso. Sad sad sad. Would not recommend just on that alone. We had to ask for napkins and got 1 each. This is my second time dining at this specific location and both times the food has been very good. My daughter and I are vegetarian so we always order from the vegetarian section of the menu. Both times we both ordered the combo E which is a bean burrito, cheese enchilada and a cheese quesadilla. It's plenty of food and we never finish it all. The salsa is a little spicy in this location but not unbearable. The service was a little slow during our second visit but they were pretty busy. Two tables has birthdays while we were there. They play music, everyone claps, they bring the birthday person a sombrero and a shot of tequila. It's quite a spectacle so if you get embarrassed easily don't tell them it's your birthday. They have quite a few beers on tap and a long list of various margaritas. We ordered a Texas margarita and it was very strong. We had to ask for limes. read more

Very good food and nice atmosphere. I would warn about the mixed drinks. I got a peach daiquiri. When I placed the order they asked if I had a preference of rum. They listed off several and I picked one - not dreaming in a million years that the booze in that drink would cost as much as the drink itself. The shot was over $9! So my drink was over $18. I was really shocked when I picked up my large order the other night. We ordered 6 entree and 2 large cheese dips, and to be honest that was the only correct items ordered. We all ordered off the online menu and when we picked it up were told that many items were no longer on the menu. Funny thing, we weren't told that when we ordered the food? To be honest I would have been ok with them choosing what to give us but we were struggling to figure out what food might be ours and looking for omitted items (like beans?) . The food was extremely greasy, like pools of orange grease over the rice. I think we were all still hungry after eating what was edible. I don't mind paying good money for Mexican take out but this was garbage! There are several Mexican places on the Island and I've always been a Jalapeños fan but that stops now. I'd rather drive to the mall and eat at La Parila. Jalapeños has redone the restaurant so it looks nice inside but why bother if the food isn't good? I'm really disappointed. read more

I am absolutely stunned by the negative reviews for this restaurant. I double checked the location since I know they have a few. This place is amazing. It was the first restaurant I tried on the islands and is still my favorite. I moved here in October and am walking distance from Jalapeños on Whitemarsh Island. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, I feel like a part of the family every time I go. I don't know what kind of cheese they put in their quesadillas but it's an explosion of queso in every bite. I order them as an appetizer with every meal! I am vegetarian and they have plenty of options on the menu here. My meat eating boyfriend has never had a bad meal either. The complimentary chips and salsa are always fresh and crisp. The margaritas are also great! Never watered down, never tase like cheap mix, and are not overpowering with alcohol taste. I promise I do not work there or have any ties with the staff/ owners, I am a true local customer. I look forward to my next visit!! read more

Yummy Mexican food! Jalapeños on Whitemarsh Island has recently done some major renovations inside. The restaurant looks a lot cleaner and has more seating throughout. Although the food is still about the same, they have expanded their menu. I love their enchiladas verdes, the fish tacos, and the standard Mexican salad. Like most Mexican restaurants, the portions are huge and I always leave feeling stuffed! For a quick bite on the island, you can't beat Jalapeños portions and prices. read more

In no more than 5 minutes my phone was gone-tracking gps turned off . management allowed my wife to view security cams and saw the waitress take my check the busboy moved in and cleared table most likely shoved my phone under some dishes and away he went.He claimed not to have it. I have been eating at this place for two years now. And the food is good and cheap. The service used to be fantastic, but now they have all these skinny white kids that don't know what they are doing. I miss the old staff and wish they didn't just disappear. Because frankly their replacements suck and make the whole experience awful now. Bring back the old staff!
