    Fajita Burrito
    Katie W.

This spot is such a hidden gem! It is tucked away behind the Walgreens on Abercorn and I am so glad that I stumbled upon it with my husband. The portions are HUGE and on top of that they are incredibly generous with their proteins. My burrito was exploding with the most flavorful carne asada and perfectly cooked peppers. There is also a serve yourself salsa bar with many different tasty options to choose from. The only negative I will mention is that it is incredibly hard to find their menu online due to them not having a website (we ended up using photos other people had taken of the menu on Yelp). This has quickly become our go to for Mexican food and I'd encourage you to check it out next time you have a craving!

Chicken fajita burrito, very yummy and filling!

So we're strongly considering a move here from Texas. Tried a few mexican restaurants and they bombed out. Good Tex-Mex style food is hard to find in these parts but we were very pleasantly surprised when some friends of ours, now living in Savannah, originally from Houston steered us here. I could close my eyes and feel like I'm somewhere in Texas when we ate there. I had the chicken fajita burrito. Very good, very filling and there are different hot sauces in a self service area so you can load up or load down based on your taste. I can honestly say what I had (likely enchiladas) was very Tex "Mexy" and good!

Pork, beef and chicken tacos. Dress your tacos as you wish at their toppings bar.

This place is well worn as a result of the constant coming and going of repeat, loyal customers. I've read the reviews! Today I kept it simple by ordering a variety of 3 tacos @$2.99 each: beef, chicken and pork. To cut to the bottom line, the pork were by far my favorite - nicely seasoned, moist, and the pork cooked with some onion. I found the beef and chicken a bit dry, bland and needing the moisture from the toppings. The tacos arrived quickly, and my server pointed me to the condiment bar of toppings. Customers dress their tacos as they wish with a variety of about 8 options: diced onion, cilantro, radishes and cucumber, lime wedges, etc. Unfortunately, several condiments bins were depleted from the lunch crowd and not refilled. A mustard yellow squeeze bottle arrived at the table filled with delicious salsa verde. Imported beer and Coke products sold here. I'll return!

I discovered this place by coincidence. I had taste for authentic Mexican fresh tacos and this plase called my name. I love places that are like hole in the wall kind of places and this is like that. Nice cute small by quaint establishment. I ordered three tacos and as they make it fresh they give you a container where you can go get your condiments. I had mine to go so that's why the pictures show I a box. Taste of my Alpastor, Carnasada and Carnita taco was amazing. I highly recommend this place if you are in the vicinity of them.

Taco al pastor, carnitas, barbacoa. Steak fajitas with warm tortillas. Side of Mexican rice, beans and avocado slides.

Amigo's is by far one of the most authentic Mexican foods I've ever tried. Though I'm South American, Mexican food has always been my favorite. Amigo's is the closest to that abuela taste that many try to replicate but only few succeed. They serve tacos, fajitas, burritos, pezoles, and individual dishes. All can be paired with an agua fresca, soft drinks, or local or imported beer. The beer can be served in a beer glass, bottle, or michelada style (glass is rimmed in tajin salt and hot sauce). The tacos are served on warm tortillas and protein of your choice: barbacoa, pastor, lengua, chicken, beef, asada, or carnitas. I've tried them all and none disappoint. Pastor and carnitas are worth the calories, though. There's a little cart in the middle of the restaurant where guests can help themselves to fresh cilantro, fresh diced onions, lime wedges, peppers, and salsa verde with a jalapeno kick that I wish would come by the bucket. The waiter will also bring salsa verde and salsa roja to the table. Every single thing tastes made to order. The best sign that this place is legit is the fact that my fellow Latinos are packing the place and plenty come in to pick up to-go orders. Give this place a try pronto!

Fue-freaking-go. Some of the best authentic tacos I've had in Savannah yet! These puppies were fresh. Amigo's has been on the list to try out but im never in this part of town around lunch but s/o to Yoonie for pushing me to try them out. Plus I love tacos so why not eat tacos?? They have a decent menu and a few eye catchers but I came for some tacos today, next time might try a burrito or their sopes. For the tacos they had a nice selection of meat, some of which were new to me. I chose the classics tho to test the waters; al pastor, carne asada, and carnitas. The carnitas had a great taste but the al pastor had to me favorite without a doubt. Super juicy, tender and packed with flavor. Perfect blends of acidity throughout the meat with the spices. All 3 were excellent. My friend got the barbacoa and was lowkey jealous of his taco lol They make the tacos with only the meat but no worries, nice toppings bar in the middle of the dining area with all the classics. These were some of the better authentic tacos I've had yet in Savannah. There's just something special about true authentic cuisine, the way it speaks for a culture and shows us their true flavors. Great job by Amigo's and I look forward to dining with them soon.

The food at Amigo's Taqueria was very authentic, affordable, and had amazing flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Mexican food, in a no frills atmosphere. The burrito and carne asada were noteworthy and I suggest ordering them, be warned the carne asada is spicy.

Where my Taco Lovers at?! Listen up! After a late morning at the museum, the kids and I were hungry. I decided to go to Amigo Latin Grocery (ALG) because it was en route between where we were and Target which is where we needed to go after lunch. Located in same shopping center as Publix and Staples on Abercorn, ALG is in a stand alone building as you turn on Largo Street from Abercorn, to enter the center. - Parking - They have their own lot with a handful of spaces, directly in front of the restaurant. It was full when we arrived, so we parked by the Goodwill donation station across the way. - TLC - The service was great! There were two staff members working the floor and cash. The guy came back to check on us often and the girl was super helpful when I asked her for a few things when the guy was busy with other customers. -Eats/Refreshments- Agua de guava - so refreshing on hot days like we've been having lately. It was a large cup and I saw a sign in the restaurant that refills are $1, but we didn't need one. They ran out of Sopes (insert sad face), so I ordered the Carne Asada Plate upon our waiter's recommendation and ordered 2 extra Asada tacos to share with my kids. Carne Asada Plate - This is basically a deconstructed Taco, plate full of Carne Asada which were thin pieces of steak cut into square pieces; fried onions and jalapeños; refried beans sprinkled with cheese; rice; shredded lettuce with slices of tomatoes, topped with slices of avocado. I asked for half and half of both corn and flour tortillas and they gave me quite a bit of both, wrapped up in foil, nice and hot. It was so much food, but I ate pretty much everything, tee hee. Carne Asada Tacos - I ordered these with flour tortillas, because my kids are not a fan of corn tortillas and quite honestly, they may have gotten that from me. If you read my last review of Taco Grande, I am not a fan of corn tortillas because in most places where I have tried them, they either don't heat them up or don't heat them up adequately and they end up tasting like rubber. I even joked with the waiter that the Taco Gods were probably frowning down on me and were about to strike me down for such an offense, but in the end, the joke was on me, because the tacos came with corn tortillas. They probably forgot and more so, probably was like "Nah, she must have made a mistake". LOL. No biggie though, since I had asked for both flour and corn tortillas with the Carne Asada plate and there were plenty, it was super easy to switch the tacos because they were only loaded up with the asada. You get the toppings at the self serve station. I ended up eating most of the tacos anyway, because I think I made the kids wait too long and they had a little too many snacks in the car on the way to ALG. The tacos were delicious, with generous portions of chopped asada and I loved being able to make them the way I wanted with the toppings they had. Self-serve topping station includes: - Pico de gallo - pickled onions - wedges of limes - diced onions - cucumbers - cilantro - red salsa - salsa verde I also noticed a large box covered in plastic wrap that was next to the topping station with Mexican style breads. The girl informed me that they were breads that were all sweet and they get them delivered from South Carolina. My kids chose a plain donut and what I call a Palmier (or what the French call it back home in Quebec). I used to love eating these. They are on the drier side, but flaky, usually covered in granulated sugar. They call it something else in America. You'll know it when you see it (refer to pic). I enjoyed the Palmier, but the donut was a little on the stale side. Not sure when the goods were delivered. - Vibe - Mom and Pop shop with tables and booth seats. You get table service, but you go up to the cash when it's time to settle the bill. When you walk in, the open kitchen is to the right, self serve topping station is in the middle and seating all around. There is a small shelving unit with a few snacks for sale too. There is also a TV playing some kind of Spanish show, probably a Telenovela. - Kid Friendly - They don't have a Kids menu, but definitely a variety to choose from that won't be too costly. They also had a Mini Taco Special, 3 for $4.99 and worst case, I always just try to get a normal plate for my kids to share. All in all, ALG has some solid food with generous portions at decent prices, with quick and efficient service. They have quite a large variety of dishes and there were so many other things I saw on the menu that sounded delicious, as well as some dishes that were passing by our table. Can't wait to go back and eat my way through the menu!

Best "authentic" Mexican food in Savannah! This place is located off Abercorn, behind Savannah Smoke & Vap store and Walgreen's. It's definitely WORTH your time to try it.

Carne asada bottom left (I added salsa and toppings to it), barbacoa at the top, and lengua at the bottom right
    Elizabeth N.

They have awesome, authentic tacos. I have tried several authentic taco restaurants in Savannah, but none have good tortillas. This one has the perfect tortillas. They aren't super soft and soggy like others. They cook them a little crispy and the flavor of them is better than the other places. I tried the carne asada (my favorite), lengua, barbacoa, and tripe tacos. I liked them all. I was a little nervous about the lengua and tripe, but they were both great. I'm not super adventurous when it comes to food, but I'd order the tripe again. The tripe was fried well and there was no funky flavor to it. The service was great, everything was clean, and they have a salsa bar!

If you enjoy a little spice in your cocktail, I highly recommend it. Since we were only in town for one night, we planned on hopping around downtown and trying several different places, so we kept it simple and ordered three tacos to share. There were quite a few tempting options on the menu, and every taco we tried was delicious. Looking back, we honestly should have just stayed here all night eating tacos and drinking tequila because none of the other places we visited afterward lived up to this experience. The atmosphere was bright, lively, and fun, with a great location right on the boardwalk. Between the food, drinks, and overall vibe, this ended up being one of our favorite stops of the trip. We'll absolutely be returning the next time we're in town. After experiencing some of the other disappointing spots downtown, this place made us realize we probably didn't need to go anywhere else.
