Bad service today! 3 people working whole floor. Hardly anyone there. 8 of us to eat. Sat forever waiting for any service...then stale chips came....then no waters ever came...then got up & walked out! Lost all our business, tips, etc. Too many other good choices. They've not been known for this in past; so maybe bad day or something has changed. They need to get act together, or not gonna be well. Will try again someday. So disappointed with our service tonight. There was a new waitress that took our order. First off she did not know what draft beer was when my husband was ordering. She had to get another waiter and he knew immediately. Secondly when i ordered I stated no cheese and no dairy and ordered a combo#3. I restated no cheese after going through all the combo choices again just to make sure she understood. Well the meal comes out with sour cream on the tostado and cheese on my beans. I informed the gentleman who brought it out that it had cheese and dairy on it. He kindly took it back and said he'll fix it. The guy,our waitress and another guy waiter who we normally have all went in the kitchen. Our waitress then comes out to our table in total disrespect and said I didn't say not to put cheese on it and arguing with me in front of my family. My husband commented that he also heard me say no cheese and dairy multiple times. She tells him he's wrong. I went up to our normal guy waiter and told him the issues and that we would be leaving. He didn't seem surprised so I'm assuming this wasn't her first issue. I've never left a restaurant like that but don't plan on going back if they keep her as a waitress..... total disrespect and not representative of what Jalapeños has been in the past. My first time at this location, my wife had the street tacos and a fried quesadilla, she was impressed. I had a chili relleno and a shrimp cocktail, the shrimp were huge and cooked to perfection, I joined the shrimp with the relleno in a house made corn tortilla, it was delicious. The restaurant was busy and there was still room for more, which I considered good it was a early dinner, about 4:30. When they seated us the waitress served chips and three salsas to accompany the drinks we ordered. Jalapeños is kid friendly and my wife does not care for spicy foods. My wife and I loved this place before we found two hairs in her order of fajitas. Our waitress was sympathetic but didn't know how to handle the situation. She threw out the food. The manager doubled down and told us that because she didn't have the evidence and it couldn't have been any of the chefs' (all men) the most they could do was give us more fajita to take home as leftovers. This was disappointing and disgusting. We won't be coming back. Seems the quality has taken a nosedive and the service is racing it to the bottom. read more

We originally were going to eat dinner at Clarkston Union before a concert at DTE last night, but the wait time was an hour and fifteen minutes (!) and so was Union Woodshop, so we packed ourselves back in the car and drove over to La Jalapeno's. [shouldn't it be EL Jalapeno's? no? /end nerdy question] I got 3 chicken tacos with a double serving of rice, since I don't like beans ($9) - fair price for dinner. My friends got all sorts of entrees and we all enjoyed them. The salsa is maybe THE BEST I've ever had, because I am very picky about salsa, and it was sweet-tasting. Chips are decent. One thing that was a little iffy: two of my friends ordered the margarita special ($3) and these HUGE ones came out. Turned out later the special was smaller and those were $7. I will say the waiter kinda/sorta made it right, I think he took the bills back and charged them $5 instead when they asked about it. Saturday, September 5th 2020 - Our Motorcycle Group, This Ride Goes to 11 set out for our 2nd Annual Taco Run, appropriately named Tacopacolypse 2020. We visited 5 restaurants, selected by our group members in a vote, and asked them to serve us their very best taco. There were 10 of us on our ride that day and with that said, Jalapenos did not disappoint on any level. The service was great, very friendly and very accommodating considering our group size, the food was exceptional and fresh and we all enjoyed the atmosphere and added interest in our quest. We were served the Carnitas Pork Taco. Absolutely delicious and deemed the very best of the 5 places we visited. Keep in mind this was also our last stop and we were STUFFED already. Holy crap has this place gone downhill. Not only are the waiters rude and condescending but also incompetent. We had 10 people in there Sunday April 24th, the restaurant was basically empty beside us only 2 other small table of 2 and 4. It took over an hour to get our food and every single piece of it was cold. The manager tried to replace the food for it to take another 30 minutes, for it to be cold again. Most of us didn't eat, they still made us pay, half of us have horrible stomach aches today and when I tried to speak to another manager today a waiter over the phone says "oh my god" and hangs up on me multiple times. I wasn't rude and didn't even mention what had happened all I said was "hi is there a manager I could talk to". I used to love this place. I have no idea what happened to it. The fact that I was treated so rudely, I decided I'll pay my bill, write a review so hopefully no one else has to deal with what we went through, and cut my losses. We had a delightful dining experience at Jalapeño's restaurant in Clarkston on a 18 degree night in mid-February. Immediately after being seated our waitress brought us a generous amount of warm and crispy tortilla chips and three different salsas. We opted for some warm queso dip for a modest fee. Gail ordered her favorite, Butterfly shrimp, and enjoyed this dish immensely. I ordered a bowl of tortilla soup that was well-seasoned, but not too spicy. I also savored the fresh avocado and cheese that were included in this tasty first course. I was quite happy with my main entree, an ala carte chicken burrito that included some freshly sliced jalapeños and a healthy coating of a mild Mexican cheese. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was most pleasant. We were offered a second basket of tortilla chips but declined because the courses were quite plentiful. If you are a fan of quality, genuine Mexican food try Jalapeño's... you won't be disappointed! read more
