I had the worst experience ordering pupusas to go. The lady who took my order over the phone repeated it back to me so I didn't think there would be a problem. When I went to pick it up even though there was hardly any customers it took a long time. Three ladies at the cash register speaking to each other and moving very slow in anything they were doing. Mostly talking to each other. Finally I pay and leave with my order. Got home to see they got everything wrong. I said no cheese so many times while placing my order. In fact I also said "no queso" just to make sure she got it right. Called them to explain that my order wasn't correct. They put a guy on the phone who I later realized was a customer who was trying to translate for them. Returning the food was another nightmare. They all just stood there looking at me. A lady ( another customer) who saw that I needed help tried translating on my behalf even though I can speak conversational Spanish. It was just poor customer service. And very slow as well. It looks more like a bar than a restaurant with some creepy guys in there. read more

I ordered soup from here cause I was feeling under the weather. When I say this soup was the best I've had in my life I mean it! I ordered a couple things and was blown away. Their food tastes like the most delicious comfort food an old school grandma would only know how to properly make from a recipe only she knew. It's so good 10/10. I have order two times from this location and every time they have failed me. I tend to never write bad reviews or complain but when your order is as simple as two bean and cheese and two revuelta pupusas and they give you bean pupusas? On the hunt for corn tamales late last night I found this place and decided to give it a shot today for lunch. Never had a pupusa before until about ten minutes ago and wow! I could inhale a dozen of these! Also ordered a shrimp taco that was so laden with shrimp I could hardly see the tortilla, let alone pick it up. Will try one of the tamales tonight and I'm fairly certain it'll be melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Aside from the tasty food at more than fair prices (I'd pay double for the pupusas, how have I lived 32 years never having one?!?), the girls there were super friendly. Peeked in on a rainy coronavirus day in LA. I was going to order togo to continue with as much social isolation as possible. The space was big and clean and everyone was at the bar so I decided to eat in with my girl. Yummy chicken soup and handmade pupusas to dip. Went to Jaltepeque 3 after searching Yelp for Pupusas in NoHo. I admit, it wasn't my first pick but after reading about $1 pupusa on Mondays & Wednesday I was sold. I tried the bean and cheese pupusa and sweet corn tamales for a grand total of $4.25 - both were extremely average. The waitress spoke broken English (my broken Spanish didn't help) so when I said I wanted one order of sweet corn tamales (two come in an order) I only received one tamale. I was not charged extra so I didn't mind. The decor is also quite depressing here and the only other patron there at the time was an old man playing bad music on the jukebox so I got my order to go. They also use the bathroom as a storage closet for their mop bucket and unused wall art which turned me off. It's not the best part of town, but for the price it's worth a try. read more

The food is enough for two and the mix of al mojo and Diabla is bomb with the guacamole and yuca. All there tostadas are bomb. If you're not looking for it you'll drive right by this little Salvadoran restaurant tucked into a corner mall on Lankershim right at Oxnard. I've loved pupuas since one of my students brought me some many years ago, but I've never taken the time to go search out a restaurant that serves them. I stumbled on this place while waiting for my car to be fixed and I'm glad I did. I had the vegetable pupusas with zucchini, spinach, cheese and Loroco Flower. It was delicious. Food is good, but came out very slow. Service was terrible. Waitress hardly checked on the table, so I had to get up and walk over to ask for things like water, and the check. Too slow. Came here for the 99cents pupusas on Thursday. They said their cook had hurt their hand and could no longer make us out pupusas so I come back Monday for the same deal and just got another poor excuse as to why they could not sell me the 99 cents pupusas they advertise for Monday and Thursday. They said they stopped serving those at 8 pm no where does it say that the deal is only valid until 8 pm. Is this a restaurant or a dance club? I went on a Sunday afternoon and they had a DJ playing music very loud. We requested they lower the volume as you couldn't have a conversation without raising your voice. The food is ok, i ordered bistec encebollado but it look like carne asada with sauted onions. Definitely not salvi style. La sopa de pata didn't have any yucca and very little pansita and vegetables. They did give me a large piece of pata. Pupusas on the brain! Pupusas on the brain! I heard from a friend that this place had some good pupusas. Being that it was only a short drive up the road, I decided to check it out. The shopping center was kinda seedy, especially at night. It was next to one of those liquor stores that has the windows behind steel bars. The parking was a little tricky but I managed to back up into a spot next to the restaurant. The inside was kinda cheesy like most hole in the wall Mexican places. They had a bar with some generic snacky snacks (I guess people hang out here on the weekends and watch soccer and drink cold "chelas". ) Anyhow, the cute waitress escorted me to a table and kindly took my drink order. I was feeling like a horchata, because I heard something about Salvadorean horchata being slightly different from its Mexican counterpart. She said something that I could not understand so I just said yes to a large tamarindo. The tamarindo water came out in a large steel cup; the kind that milkshakes usually come in. Maybe this was because it was very thick, in fact, one of the thickest tamarindos I had ever drunk. So good. If you don't know what this is like, it is kinda like a cross between the consistency of a pear and the acidity of a mango with a lightly more earthy flavor. The tamarindo was accompanied by complimentary chips and hot sauce. Hence the addition of Mexican in the description of the restaurant. The fresh salsa was very spicy probably due to the addition of black pepper. I thought was kinda strange, but it made for an addicting snack. Nothing on the menu looked appealing. So I decided to go with my original fancy. I ordered a pupusa trio; one revuelta, one cheese, and one loroco and cheese. The pupusas came out after about 10 minutes of waiting and were smaller than I had anticipated. I guess i got spoiled by the giant ones they have at Vallarta. They were however less greasy. The curtido or Latin American "cole slaw" was kinda funky looking. I had a small bit and passed on it. The salsa was typical of the kind you get with this dish. All in all, nothing to write home about. I don't think I shall return unless you or someone else is buying. Even then, I might recommend something else. read more

Too bad this place is so far from where I live. They have karaoke, so be prepared if you go and they are singing.
