    Oxtail and Jerk chicken

Okay, I give it a 2 solely because the gentleman inside was very nice BUT the food...I am not Jamaican so I'm unsure of the authenticity but let's speak about this chicken first. It tasted like it was fresh off the smoker but also had an interior red slime thing, and the spice level was on the high side. I also question what part of the chicken was on my plate, as the bone was oddly located. And when I say high, I mean my tongue was under the kitchen faucet for roughly 3-5minutes. The oxtails, we should call those fattails. A bunch of spicy fat surrounding a bone. Oh I forgot, I also got a meat patty and within 20mins was on the toilet. I really wanted to like this place because I love Jamaican food and it's close by but....whewww Jesus. I mean, try it...again maybe it's just me

Food and service was amazing. I'll definitely be ordering from them again. The ambience was great.

Home. That's the first and last word that come to mind with Jamaica Cabana. First off I pull into a small lot, and see a small hut that's 80% kitchen, 20% front store and register - and 200% pure love! Love of cooking, love of feeding, love of serving, and love of seeing eyes light up when a customer takes their first bite. This is authentic "Grand Ma" kitchen humble, yet rich staple. Loved the ambiance, small hut to order, but a big "yard" to eat in. They have tables on the deck of the entrance, and a yard of tables in the lot next door. Felt like a piece of the island in South Dallas. I got Beef Patty and Large Oxtail plate. These are my test dishes for Jamaican spots. The Oxtails were perfectly seasoned, and "Tender"! the rice and peas were spot on - you can eat this fluffy rice and staple pea as a stand alone dish without gravy or anything else (that's not easy to do) - the cabbage was cooked to perfection - it was flavor filled and my favorite point - cooked to the perfect crunch - not soggy or under cooked - but a perfect veggie crunch - on my vegan days I'd vibe here for a place of rice and peas, and cabbage alone. Trust me-you, both your buds and hunger will be satisfied with this pair - vegan and carnivore alike! The beef patty - one, I love patties - two the "Tell" of "care". I order as a tester to give insight on quality of the restaurant itself. If I get a dried out and crusty patty it speaks to the standard of the restaurant - in my opinion - but in this case the patty was soft, the right amount of flake on the breading and a flavor rich beef stuffing. It passed with flying colors. The meal was as they say I grabbed the non-traditional Ice drink, cop'd a squat on the sunny shade deck at the perfect temp of 72 breezy degrees - Ragga blasting in the background - taste buds dancing to the music of the fare on my plate - I hear another customer praise how this is the best Jamaican they've ever had - and the chef owner responds by giving Roses to his "Grand Ma". Like I said, one word - "Home". Big Up

This is the real deal! Jamaican family cooking with their hearts. Try the oxtail. Amazing and the jerk chicken is spot on authentic. Fast service and outdoor seating is available.

The food was great!! I was pleasantly surprised yet felt right at home when the food arrived! I'll admit I felt the jerk chicken had me longing for something more (more spices/flavor not heat), the curry chicken and oxtails were AMAZING. Had a great time and will recommend to friends and family!! Can't wait to stop by on our next visit in the area!! The portion size was spot on! I couldn't eat all of this at one time. I loved that each plate came with rice & beans, cabbage, and plantains and not my choice of either or! . I will be returning!!

My husband and I were looking for a place to get oxtails since our fav Jamaican place was closed today. Google places and found this one. It's located on a busy corner close to downtown. The parking lot is small with lots of rocks so be careful when walking to the door. There's a very small outside seating area in front that leads to a very small inside. There's no room for inside seating but there are authentic Jamaican items to buy from flags to spices to the owners very on Jamaican lemonade which is different but tasty. We ordered oxtails, jerk chicken and curry chicken. They were sold out of some items so we had to wait about 30 minutes for them to cook more. I loved the plantains they put on top of meal, yummy! The rice had spices and seasoning and shredded cabbage was okay. The jerk chicken had some dry pieces, no sauce on the chicken and some pieces I didn't know what part of the chicken it was. The curry chicken was really good with the potatoes and carrots in it, the pieces were juicy and delicious. The oxtails weren't worth the $30 price, the large size isn't very large and it could've used more seasoning. The owner was very friendly and offered us the Jamaican lemonade complimentary for the wait. I would go back just because he was so nice. I'd recommend to give them a try, as he mentioned they've received some accolades in the past for their food. It was close to closing when we went so maybe I'll go back earlier in the day to see if it's better, definitely want to try the chicken soup.

I put in an order at around 230 for delivery at 630. I requested jerk chicken as my chicken option. Did not receive order until about 745 and there was a note saying there was no jerk chicken. Why in 4 hours no one sent a message saying no jerk chicken I do not know. But the stew chicken was very good and they sent a meat pie as a sorry with a handwritten note (which was nice). The cabbage was very good. The goat curry was a bit tough and could have been cooked longer. The oxtail was also a bit tough and I think it may have been made with a barbecue sauce, which is odd and unexpected for Caribbean style oxtail. I was not a fan and dont think I'd order the oxtail again. Overall I'd maybe try again. Likely a chicken dish. Maybe one of their fish/ seafood dishes. I appreciated the note but would have preferred communication upfront (though the stew chicken was tasty).

I'm new to Dallas and decided to try Jamaica Cabana Restaurant. I've pretty much tried most of the food in my area and was looking for a different flavor. I read the Google reviews but still decided to order the curry goat, rice and peas and chicken patty. The reviews did not lie. If you are used to really good authentic Jamaican food this simply will not do. I've never needed to added salt to a Jamaican dish before. This reminded me of being in Barbados. Not all Caribbean food is cooked equally. I honestly feel like I wasted $30 . It looks good but the goat was very chewy ( probably old) , gravy was watery, and rice & peas was cotton mouth dry. I didn't finish it . Sorry to leave this type of review however was my experience and honest thoughts.

I was actually skeptical at first because I don't see a lot of traffic to the restaurant. Food was great fresh and service was excellent.

My daughter has to get a patty every time we visit, and I never leave without one of their homemade juices. The owner is always friendly and welcoming whenever I see him, which keeps me coming back. The food is consistently worth the wait and worth every penny. Speaking of waits, service can be a little slow at times, so I recommend calling ahead or visiting when you're not in a rush. It makes the experience much more enjoyable. The only reason I'm giving a strong 4 stars instead of 5 is the customer service from some of the staff. While not everyone falls into this category, many of the employees can come across as a bit reserved. Once you engage with them, they're usually pleasant, but a few more smiles and a warmer atmosphere would really elevate the experience. I'd love to walk in one day and feel the vibrant, welcoming island energy reflected throughout the restaurant. That said, I'll definitely keep coming back for those wings!

We ordered via online and realized they relocated. Of course we had to order multiple things to get a feel of their consistency. LET'S GET RIGHT INTO IT; We ordered the Pineapple Juice - (8/10) : The juice was good Hisbicus Tea - (4/10) : The tea was made with cane sugar; that defeated the purpose of a healthy and delicious tea. I really wanted it to be made with agave or date syrup. Side of Cabbage- (4/10) : Cabbage was very bland for fried cabbage, its wasn't seasoned at all and it wasn't cooked through enough to my liking. Side of Fried Brussel Sprouts - (7/10) : Brussel Sprouts were decent and actually seasoned. They just weren't mind blowingly good so a 7 was the best I could give it. Vegan Jerk Oxtail with Mushroom Rice - (8/10) : This right here was great however it was giving more vegan meatloaf then it was oxtail. We had to think of it as a meatloaf for us to be fully satisfied with the flavor. Overall though it was good and we enjoyed it. Vegan Lobster Mac and Cheese - (9/10) : This was the STAR of the show. It was delicious, creamy and the lobster pieces actually were giving lobster lowkey. We enjoyed this one the most and would return just to get this. The Ambiance of the restaurant was cool and definitely would be worth sitting in and enjoying the meals. The decor was decent inside and inside the bathroom, however, the bathroom needs to be upgraded. My rating... DEFINITELY would recommend the Lobster Mac and Cheese, we will return to get it again and maybe try another vegan option. I would totally recommend, GO TRY IT OUT! They also have non-vegan options that others rave about!

The establishment itself is small and when entering it isn't entirely clear if one is supposed to sit at a table and wait for a menu or order at the counter. Our server was very nice and answered our questions as we tried to figure out what best to eat. Overall the food tasted good though I think I'm used to a more robust flavor. I would give the place more stars but for a few things: (1) it was 70ish degrees outside but it was warmer inside the restaurant (seemed like they had the heat going very strong); (2) there were cartoons playing on the only TV and it might have been nice to have music or other Chanel options but there were kids present so presumably the cartoons were for them; and (3) we were told there were no restroom facilities.
