The Jamaican Grill in Oak Park, IL.

Tried a new place for lunch today!!! Best Plantains ever!! Chicken was moist and spicy just the way I like it , but the rice and beans were bland and dry...The cabbage lacked flavor and it was greasy! Only the plantain and chicken for me if I venture there again!I'm still in love with "Uncle Joe's"!

Delicious!!!!!!!! I was looking to try something new the other night, and this proved to be a fantastic choice. I read that this place is SLOW........and they were. However, I did place my order and return later for pick up (had to wait a bit longer still). However, all this waiting was WORTH it. Loved the jerk wings, plantains, rice and beans, and meat patties. Really, the food was flavorful, piping hot, and a real treat. My three and six year old were thrilled with everything as well......We will be ordering from here again!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Customer service was superb and the food was great. Me and honey decided to give this place a try since we were in the neighborhood. I got the Jerk wings with cabbage, rice and plantains. He had the shrimp with the same sides. The food was fresh not overly seasoned and so.......good. I will definitely be back.

Beautiful chicken with a zesty taste

We got bone-in wings: honey bbq & the cajun dry rub. The size of the wings are pretty decently sized. Texture was good and tasted fresh. Not super salty. For sides we got the onion rings and fries. The onion rings came with a "boom" sauce which was nice and tangy. I'm not sure how to describe how it tastes but its an orange sauce. Fries were very crispy and seasoned very well!! Overall exceeded my expectations! I would order from them again.

During ordering I learned the deal is only for bone in wings- but they would take 20 minutes. Boneless are always cooked up and ready. There were 2 people who already ordered when I entered. The staff must have had lots of online orders because many people came in after that. I waited 35 minutes for my wings and mac and cheese. The kitchen seemed to have one full time worker, then my cashier was also assisting in the kitchen. The poor woman didn't seem like she could keep up. I feel the delay is likely due to lack of staffing, they both did not seem to slow down, but nonetheless this was extremely frustrating and disappointing when I specifically paid more for the boneless to save time. For the food- these wings are fine. Nothing special, not bad either. I got the awesome sauce and sweet chili. I appreciated the chicken was real, not mashed up and formed. They were cooked well, and the sauces were good. The Mac and Cheese was very disappointing. I expected at worst overcooked diner type of Mac and cheese and hoped for something better. Instead the cheese was so watery it fell off the noodles and had no flavor. For $23 you can get a much better meal somewhere else, I likely won't be back.

Coming from somebody that has a long medical background, THE FIRST THING that stood out was the cleanliness and proper protective gear that's worn while preparing the food. This is sooo rare nowadays because MOST restaurants lack this.! Some of the most expensive high end restaurants LACK THIS.! The gloves were an instant 5 STARS for me. HELL 10 Across the board.! The price point is very reasonable, I honestly feel it needs to be HIGHER because of the quality of the food, esthetic look and hospitality.! The waiting area at the tables were clean and wiped down. Asian-owned fried chicken in the middle of the neighborhood...respect…read more The first thing you notice about Mimi's at 3748 W. Division St. is that it's clearly well-known in the community. This walk-up, hole-in-the-wall spot feels like a true neighborhood gem, and it stands out because of the food and the energy it brings to the block. Mimi, the owner, is often there taking orders herself, which adds a personal touch you don't always get. The menu is huge and full of comfort food staples, wings, chicken thighs, legs, French toast, eggs, beef over rice, shrimp, gyros, and more. It really feels like a mix of classic "hood staples" done in a very intentional way. My first experience was actually at a block party when I saw people in the neighborhood with trays of food from Mimi's. I had to track it down after that, and I've been back three times since. The food is solid, and they also offer catering for larger events (which I could easily see working for something like a Super Bowl gathering). A couple of things to note: this is a busy walk-up spot, so it's best to call ahead if possible. If they don't answer, you may just need to stop in and wait, my longest wait has been around 30 minutes. Also, it's a good idea to double-check your order before leaving, as small things can occasionally get missed. Overall, Mimi's is a staple on West Division. The food is consistent, the menu is extensive, and the community clearly supports it. 5 out of 5 stars.
