First, they are open on Saturdays, their Yelp hours haven't been updated- just left a little while ago. I ordered the ackee and saltfish delight, which is ackee and saltfish on a flat fried plantain. I've been waiting for somewhere in BR to feature Jamaican food that tastes like a Jamaican cooked it and it's finally here. I couldn't decide whether to order the brown stew oxtail or the brown stew beef so I got both. My 3 year old practically demolished my stew beef because I hid my oxtails. Stay away from this place! The owners are rude and will lie to your face then try to gaslight you by pulling the race card! I ordered two rib plates Togo ($45.58 plus tax). Got to the restaurant and each plate had three small rib bones in it. I've ordered from this place multiple times before so I inquired about the small amount of ribs. The manager proceed to gas light me and lie. THE SERVER STEPPED UP AND SAID THE REAL REASON WAS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF RIBS! I was like, ok, thank you for being honest. Just say you ran out and I can order something different! Don't just lie and gaslight me! I was then told that I needed to wait for the owner to get a refund or just write my phone number down. As I was writing my phone number down, along with my complaint, the owner came in. He proceeded to say that there are only 3 small rib bones in each plate of ribs because "it's a different type of rib today." This was a lie, I cook ribs all the time, the correct explanation was the one given by their server, THEY RAN OUT! When I told him what the server said, he attempted to reprimand her to the point where she felt uncomfortable admitting that she told me the truth. I asked for a refund so that I could leave! He said I'd have to go through uber eats for the refund. While I'm processing the refund through uber eats like he instructed, he tells me to get out of his restaurant! I'm like, I'm currently communicating with the uber eats and they are telling me the restaurant didn't cancel the order, they marked it as completed. So I sit to try and figure out how to get my refund, the owners starts to berate me, use the race card saying, "it's always your own people... not during black history month..." they even called and lied to the police and told them I was irate and had a weapon! She proceed to tell her husband not to hit me! Why in the world would he hit me?!?! Never once did I raise my voice. I was assertive and firm, but not loud or irate! I have never in my life been treated so poorly! I proceeded to just leave and say forget my refund because my feelings were so hurt! I just couldn't believe their behavior when they were wrong the entire time! Just admit that you made a mistake and correct it! All of this over 2 ribs plates??? Really?? I will never return! Went to Jamaican Vibes Cuisine's new brick and mortar in BR. It was a little hard to find at first because the door is tucked away on the side of Jimmy John's, but obviously, I found it. Jamaican Vibes is a small space with a big personality, and a lot of atmosphere. Every inch of space is utilized well, and the customer service and hospitality is amazing. I placed my order at the register. You have the option to pay there or pay after the meal which I thought was great. I ordered the curry goat (which comes with peas and rice and mixed vegetables), the macaroni, the beef patty and a Sprite. I actually wanted it with just the macaroni but it seemed a bit complicated to put in the system so I just went with it as is. Glad I did! The food was very flavorful! It felt like I was at my best friend's Jamaican grandmother's house (not some fictional character, both sides of her family are Jamaican lol). The food however, was just warm. This was resolved quickly with fresh food and it was even better the second time around. The mac was definitely seasoned, and it actually could have been less seasoned and still been good. The curry goat was very tender and good. The peas and rice were good, and the plating was phenomenal! They do have dessert options, though I didn't try any. For anyone foraying into Caribbean food for the first time, this is a good spot to try. I will return soon to try their wings. Where do I begin with this place. They're truly doing a fantastic job from top to bottom here. Let's start with the service. The owner (I'm blanking on his name despite having many conversations with him. Shame) is straight outta Jamaica, and giving all the good vibes you'd expect from a guy like that. The bartender, though I've never ordered any drinks from him, is a great dude and is chill and sociable. And the ladies and gentleman taking orders are also great. I've had the wings and the jerk chicken plate and they're both incredible with the perfect touch of sweet and spicy. Their cabbage is also very good. This has become my new Wednesday dinner spot because of the great specials and deals they run. I can leave out of there with a jerk chicken combo plate and wings for around $15. This place can be a little pricy if it's not Wednesday and they also can have a long wait time on busy nights. Normally, this would be reason to subtract a star from my review, but the great food and even greater people make this place a great experience worthy of 5 stars. I found this place while looking for a new restaurant on GrubHub. I love good Jamaican food, PLUS they have jerk pork, so I thought I'd give it a try. My order was delivered early and still hot, which was really appreciated. I could smell the food before I opened it, and was happy at what I was smelling. The portions were large, and the food was EXCELLENT. The jerk seasoning is a bit spicy, but extremely tasty. The rice and beans were also very good. I am not a cabbage fan, so I haven't tried the cabbage yet, but overall this meal was absolutely wonderful. First, it's a little hard to find. Perhaps location could include that's actually attached to Jimmy John's in the same building but on the side of Jimmy John's. It's NOT visible from the front street. I don't remember that there was ample signage. My GPS kept telling me "you have arrived", and then I discovered it was the same building as Jimmy John's. I'm extremely glad I chose the pork stew because it was amazing. The pork literally melted in my mouth. Food was hot and fresh upon arrival which impressed us. My coworker who also tried it said it was the best beef patty he's had. The meat filling was moist. The crust was light and flaky. The cabbage was good, but coming from someone who cooks southern cabbage, I would prefer to cook mine a little longer. Honestly no complaints just an opinion.
