Jerk Chicken

The food was okay at best. Usually when I order jerk chicken it has a very light and thin spicy sauce, more like a coating. This was like a really thick tomato based gravy. Not quite to my liking. Also the cabbage was crunchy and undercooked.

Curry Goat. LOVE IT. I've never had Jamaican curry before (and goat only a handful of times) and this is delicious!

WOW. Phenomenal. This place is delicious. And not just delicious for the price or for the area, this food is DELICIOUS for anywhere. Come here. Lock your car (the area's not the best), but get over your fears and COME HERE. I'm from out of town and I'm 100% going to make sure to stop here every time I'm in KC. The people inside are SUPER friendly and nice to chat with. The owner and his family are actually from Jamaica, and they REALLY know how to cook. This food is world-shakingly good. This food is book-a-flight-to-Jamaica good. Truly. Here's the thing. Everything is STARTED from scratch when you order, just like if you were cooking at home. Call in 30 or 40 minutes ahead, it's worth the wait. And besides, you'd wait 40 minutes before being seated at a Cheesecake factory and count yourself lucky to get food previously frozen or reheated from yesterday for TWICE the price (and HALF as good). If you'd be happier at Applebee's, go to Applebee's. If you love good, authentic food and want to support a great family business, take a little adventure and go here. You absolutely won't regret it.

We went today for the first time, I had to ask a few of my friends if they ever been and check out reviews on Yelp before I could commit to going. Im so glad that I did. It was really good. I was initially pretty nervous because we called the order in and the guy that answered the phone was very short and didn't get my name. However, when we arrived my s/o went in while I waited in the car. He said he was greeted right away and our food was ready as well. He said the inside was very clean but small. Music was blasting and the TV was on. The food was good, I had to add my own salt but that is to be expected. I ordered the jerk chicken not realizing how spicy it was. I will try the ox tails next time. We will return.

The food was really good. I'm from California and was super surprised to find Jamaican food here. I almost didn't go into the place because the street was busy but the restaurant wasn't busy at all. The guy from Mississippi that worked there made great conversation while I waited. The cook waved and said hello when he brought the food out. Only thing that j was really missing was the plantanes. I'm so use to them coming with Jamaican meals.

Pretty lively today! Jamdown Kitchen satisfies yet again. On this second visit I brought a friend along hoping to share the Caribbean vibe. I had the Curry Chicken and he had the Jerk. Along with two beef patties for a little treat. Great Jamaican food option in Kansas City with great hours.

It's not many places where you can get authentic Jamaican food in Kansas City so I visited Jamdown Kitchen for a try. It's hard not to miss because the building looks like a huge black green & yellow Jamaican Flag in the middle of the block. I tried the Curry Chicken and cabbage and it was seasoned perfect. I will be going back very soon!

If you live in KC area and don't eat here you might be literally losing out on life. The best most tender jerk and curry chicken ever. Order a patty and don't forget the coco bread. You'll thank me later. Dont be scared to try the curry, if your not familiar its nothing close to Indian curry. Customer for life.

I like the jerk chicken and the ox tails. Prices has gone up a little. Portions have gotten a little smaller. Only come once in awhile.

There is a brilliant, transportive alchemy at work here, transforming a casual stroll through our neighborhood into a deliberate departure from the ordinary, where the modern world gently recedes into the background. The service was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the entire meal. I started with my go-to appetizer, the calamari, which is consistently one of my favorites. It's always perfectly cooked and never disappoints. I also tried the 24K cocktail, and it was refreshing, smooth, and absolutely delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the lamb chops, and they continue to be the best lamb chops I've had--perfectly seasoned, tender, juicy, and cooked just right. We paired them with the crab fried rice and the lobster mashed potatoes, and both sides were incredible. The crab fried rice was full of flavor, while the lobster mashed potatoes were rich, creamy, and the perfect complement to the meal. Every bite was delicious, and the level of service matched the quality of the food. The staff is always warm, accommodating, and genuinely makes you feel like a valued guest. It's one of the reasons we continue coming back. Eddie V's has become one of our favorite special occasion restaurants because they consistently deliver exceptional food, outstanding service, and an elegant atmosphere. My husband loves the bone in ribeye and I normally would have shared or had scallops but this time I did the Parmesan sole. I honestly didn't love it this time but the dish was quite large. Always a great time. Highly recommend :)
