Awful experience from start to finish. I was greeted with a nasty attitude and a peek of a head out of a door and was then told it would be a few minutes after I told her what I wanted. 30 minutes goes by and I'm watching Ellen and someone I seen driving away as I was pulling in is walking back in the restaurant to complain about the same meal I had ordered or so I had thought. Enjoyed the food! It was a little different than what I've had in the past but it was still really good. (The sauce was more reddish brown, thicker and a little sweeter). I ordered a jerk chicken plate and the jerk chicken pasta; which Ive never heard of before this location. That was amazing!! They definitely prefer call-ins rather than walking in and ordering. It was my first time so I didn't know that. The person helping me wasn't too happy about having to take my order in the restaurant but he reluctantly did so anyway. The only reason I'm not removing a star is because his service was MUCH better when I went back in to pick it up. It ended up taking a little over 30m since I didn't preorder. I had some time that day so waiting in my car wasn't a problem for me. I'm glad I didn't allow service or the wait to deter me. The portions were GREAT! The food was amazing! Visiting from Texas and got this through Uber Eats. The delivery was fast and accurate. However, the food left much to be desired. I got 2 oxtail dinners & it was full of oxtail bones with minimal meat, with gravy & rice. Maybe cause it near the end of the day. But I will never get oxtails there again. We went today for the first time, I had to ask a few of my friends if they ever been and check out reviews on Yelp before I could commit to going. Im so glad that I did. It was really good. I was initially pretty nervous because we called the order in and the guy that answered the phone was very short and didn't get my name. However, when we arrived my s/o went in while I waited in the car. He said he was greeted right away and our food was ready as well. He said the inside was very clean but small. Music was blasting and the TV was on. The food was good, I had to add my own salt but that is to be expected. I ordered the jerk chicken not realizing how spicy it was. Don't let the restaurant location scare you, you will be pleasantly surprised when you try the food. Make sure you get there early because they do run out of food quickly. Disappointed. I've been looking for good Jamaican food since I moved from New York. The jerk plate had good flavor but it was all bones ! No meaty legs or chicken thigh in the whole platter. I was so upset when I opened the container when I got home. If I lived closer I would've demanded my money back. If I hadn't ordered 2 beef patties along with it I would've gone to bed hungry. I got the Jerk Chicken at the employee's suggestion and it did not disappoint. Their menu options did seem limited at the time, but each meal tasted great and came in good sized portions (and I usually leave restaurants a little hungry). Went there twice and the short dude with the star or whatever on his chest was disrespectul BOTH times. The first time it was subtle the second time it j7st was just outright disrespectul. I came in to make an order and the guy stands there on the phone for about 3 minutes. Didnt even acknowledge i was there lol. I went back the second time because im encouraged to support our local and community businesses but i haven't been back because i dont owe the jam team nothing and wont be treated as such. I used to be a G"s Jamacian Cusine fan but as of late the quality and portions are hitting all time lows and the prices are hitting all time highs so I sat out in search for a new Jamaican fix and I found this little gem on Prospect. I ordered the jerk chicken and the plate did not disappoint. You get what u pay for at this place, flavor, portions and more flavor. We were in the mood for a Caribbean meal and looked through the reviews here on Yelp. This place is spot-on with a perfect balance of heat and flavor. We had the Ox tail, which was world class, and the Curried Chicken which was accompanied by beans, rice and wonderfully flavored cabbage. The whole experience filled my head with visions of Caribbean adventures past. Such a great find here in the middle of the city. We can't wait to go through the menu item by item! Be sure and order ahead, it is a small place and there are only a few places to sit down and eat. Just like the review a month ago GET RID OF THE GIRL UP FRONT SHES RUDE AS HELL !!! I hadnt been in a while and she wasnt the same previous girl that had been there years and they need the other girl back. I called in my order came to pick it up there were 3 people waiting for their food sitting down she NEVER once asked how she could help me and the whole time my food was in the warmer. After about 7 mins she finally asked what I wanted to order and I advised her I had a call in. I proceeded to ask for a beef patty she said there were none right now and a man waiting said he had one on his order so how long was the wait. She was very rude with her response but they came out as soon as she said there were none . She then asked rudely while ringing my food up did I want one as she texted on her phone just like she did to the previous man she checked out. She bagged up my food taking her sweet time and that was that no thank you have a good day nothing. I get my food & it was cold. I called and asked for a manager bc I didnt want to go back in there & speak to her rude self she told me the manager wasnt there then about 5 mins later she called back talking about the manager was there. I like the jerk chicken and the ox tails. Prices has gone up a little. Portions have gotten a little smaller. Only come once in awhile.
