Our first time at James Place Inn was last summer for my then-fiance's birthday get-away weekend. We were greeted by one of the owner Robbin with a big friendly warm smile. Later, we got to meet his wife, Tori and their daughter, Elyse, who were both very charming. We stayed at Taupe Room upstairs which was cozy and tastefully decorated. Their breakfast was amazing! We both had sampler plates Blueberry pancakes, homemade granola, sausage, veggie frittata. etc. We enjoyed our stay there so much that when we started our planning our wedding in ME, no place but James Place Inn came to our mind. We drove from Boston to Freeport, ME on the day of our wedding, and needed a place to change before the ceremony & dinner. They let us check-in early (very early, it was before noon), and give us some time to settle before heading to our big event. This time we stayed in Pine Room with a fireplace. It was very romantic to lounge in front of the fireplace as a newly wed couple. We will definitely come back for any occasions. Our only comment would be the size of shower which could be a bit cramped, but you can always book other rooms with jacuzzi, which we will next time :) read more

There are plenty of B&B's in Freeport, but it's hard to imagine any finer then the James Place Inn. The owners, Tori and Robbin, are incredibly warm and hospitable. The location is perfect in Freeport, 3 blocks from L. L. Bean and all the restaurants in town. Weather permitting, you can enjoy breakfast outside under a crisp blue sky. Robbin makes a variety of incredible breakfasts each and every morning to start your day. We can't wait to go back to Freeport and when we do, we will be making reservations at the James Place Inn. Hey Tori... tell Robin if he wants to share his blueberry pancake recipe with the world... it might just lead to world peace. Them bad boys are amazing!! Seriously... that man can cook for me anytime he wants. We stayed there for a night... too short... wish we could have made it a week. We were in the yellow room... seems too close to the morning action, but it was very quiet and super convenient. The bathroom door stuck a bit - I expect Tori to get right on that one. :-) Bathroom... very nice... big shower... couple of bottles of water included. Place has a big jacuzzi... perfect with a bottle of champagne... glasses and other needed items are just outside the door. Bed was good... Great wifi connection... thank you for keeping it strong. Breakfast... worth the trip... granola (made by Tori) was toasted tasting and very good. Quiche was good enough for seconds. Blueberry pancakes were just killer... ask for two... three... Robin got you covered. I took a walk to town... easy... don't drive... walk... take your time... enjoy the feeling. In conclusion... get to Freeport... give Tori a hug and tell Robin to set you up. Then go get some chow... drink come fine local beer... and experience one of the finest B&B out there. Robin... send me some pancakes or at least the recipe... PLEASE??? read more

We stayed here once five years ago, and came back for a second visit in the middle of August. Robin and Tori are two of the most kind and caring people, let alone inn owners, you will ever meet - when we left, we really felt like we were leaving family. They are full of suggestions for what to do, happy to chat at breakfast, and just genuinely care that your stay goes well (going as far as imploring us to contact them if we had any problems on our drive home). The inn is perfectly located in Freeport...it's not more than a five minute (leisurely) walk to anyplace downtown, yet is somehow far enough off the main drag that you don't have noise from the cars or people. You don't have to deal with parking when you go out for dinner, which means you can "enjoy" a night out. The rooms are wonderful and quaint, all have their own air conditioner and bathroom. The inn is remarkably quiet; aside from the odd creak from the stairs, we never once heard any other guest in their room. Breakfast is included, and as everyone else has stated, is incredible. You have the choice of a gourmet quiche, frittata, pancakes/French toast/waffles, bacon/sausage, plus a breakfast pastry, granola, and yogurt, or all of the above (all of which is homemade). There's plenty of seating inside and outside, and you're able to sit with people or by yourself, whichever is your preference. If you come to Freeport and stay anywhere else, you're missing out. We're in our late 20's, have traveled and stayed at B&B's and hotels all over the US and the world, and this is still our favorite place that we've stayed at. read more

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and could not have asked for a better experience. Tori and Robin are friendly and helpful and make you feel at home from the moment you step in the door. Breakfasts are beyond amazing and the service is above and beyond. Rooms are quaint, clean and comfortable. We will return to Freeport simply to stay here! read more

I'm someone who values privacy and does not seek the company of strangers when I travel. After staying at the James Place Inn for one night, I'm a changed man. The friendliness of the hosts and the ambiance of the inn have shown me another facet of travel lodging. I will try the B&B experience in other places because of my great experience at James Place. Think about that. Had this stay been anything but perfect, I may have simply ruled out other B&B possibilities. I've read the other reviews on yelp and I can only agree with all the positives others have posted. My only complaint was that I only stayed one night. We wanted to spend a get-away weekend over my Valentines Day Birthday and we booked into this lovely B&B. Our experience could not have been better. From the moment we booked our room we knew we were in for something special. The innkeepers, Tori and Robin, have to be the most accommodating and friendly folks with whom we have lodged. Tori made excellent recommendations for restaurants and secured the premier table for my birthday dinner at their favorite Freeport restaurant, Azure. Their welcoming coffee and snacks were much appreciated after our long train ride. The breakfast was nothing short of hearty, tasty and offered a huge variety. We had waffles, frittata, quiche, granola, and freshly ground coffee and felt as though we were the guests they had been waiting for years to serve. I cannot wait for the occasion to return to the Pine Room which is lovely, has a very comfy bed and plenty of wood for evening fires. read more

We live just north of Boston and decided to take an impromptu trip--after the most rejuvenating day and a half, we couldn't be happier! Robin and Tori (and their daughter) were the sweetest, most accommodating hosts. They gave us some great tips on where to go in town, and we snapped up delicious treats every time we went in and out (fresh raspberry muffins, blueberry coffee cake, and to-die-for addictive Colorado Cookies!). The two-person jacuzzi was exactly what we needed, everything was beautifully appointed (and not a doily in sight). Coffee was ready bright and early, and we felt so welcome to hang out in the kitchen getting to know our hosts better while breakfast was prepared. It was phenomenal, by the way, and they even stocked up on vegetarian "sausage" to go with the frittata after we mentioned we were vegetarians the night before. All in all, we were shocked at how easy a weekend trip it was from Boston, and can't wait to come back soon. read more

Stayed for a last minute trip to see the fall foliage. The room was nice and comfortable, but what made it a 5 star stay were the Innkeepers. The nicest, most welcoming B&B hosts I've ever met. I look forward to a return visit for a longer stay- don't think you can do better in Freeport. read more

Have been going up to Freeport for years, and we are never disappointed in the James Place Inn. Robin and Tori go out of their way to provide a clean, welcoming, warm Inn. They know the area, offer recommendations galore, and the Breakfasts?!?! We weren't hungry again until 6pm! Robin takes requests, he'll bake or cook anything your heart desires! Their coffee is a personalized brew, and is divine. Tea, cookies, fresh baked goods are provided all day long---and offers to take some for the ride home will have us coming back for more. We just experienced one of the finest stays at a bed and breakfast that we've ever had. Our hosts Tori and Robin Baron were incredible. They treated us extremely well and provided GREAT breakfasts with homemade foods. Our room was quaint and very clean. The hosts also provided many tips and directions to make our stay enjoyable. We felt like old friends or family during our stay, since the kitchen and snacks were accessible along with movies and GREAT coffee. The town of Freeport was enjoyable with many outlet shopping stores of finer quality goods. This is also the home of L.L. Bean. Restaurants in the area are tremendous with the Azure restaurant leading the pack with their clam chowder. I would highly recommend the James Inn to anyone staying in this area. We stayed at the Inn for a week and traveled to the other coastal sights from this Inn. When we left Tori had packed us some delicious homemade coffeecake for our plan. This went over well, since we had layovers. How thoughtful and personable. read more

We love the James Place Inn!! The rooms were lovely, the breakfast was delicious, the owners were gracious hosts. I was impressed from check-in: Robin not only gave us the full tour, but also made suggestions about places to eat in Freeport and offered us homemade chocolate peanut butter cookies. Heaven. I've previously reviewed The James Place Inn but I feel an update is necessary because of just how good Robin and Tori, the innkeepers, are at operating their business. I wrote last year that my then-fiancé and I stopped in for a visit. At the time we were looking for a wedding venue in Maine. Ultimately, we chose our site based on Tori's recommendation. Two weeks ago we were married in Freeport and we booked the entire inn. We both felt that our wedding weekend would not have been as successful without the care and counsel of Robin and Tori. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne upon our arrival and then left with a heartfelt congratulations from Robin and Tori. When we couldn't find an "s" hook for our canoe roof rack Robin pulled down a flower basket that was hanging on the front porch by the type of hook we needed and gave it to us. That's not just customer service - that's friends helping friends in a pinch. Kate and I have been there quite a few times and we have no intention of staying anywhere else when we visit Maine. These are good people who have earned our trust and repeat business. read more

The innkeepers, Tori and Robin make the B&B experience something you want to do more often. Both are very gracious and knowledgeable hosts. The Barons have a corporate background and it shows in how seamless this inn is operated. The innkeepers and the inn itself presents a calming and relaxing environment to stay for overnight or longer. All amenities needed are supplied for your stay. The rooms are quaint and very clean. The rooms on the website are depicted accurately. Breakfast menus changes but Robin has ample choices each day. Robin makes the breakfast as well as treats such as various cookies from scratch. Delicious food! The inn is conveniently located near the restaurants and the shopping area which includes LL Bean and other retail stores and outlets. Tori and Robin can help make your stay even better by suggested things to do and trips to take. After picking us up from the airport, Robin showed my husband where to get the freshest lobster and other places to try out. He and Tori also turned us onto Conundrums which is a wine and bistro place that is local. This bistro had good food and they help you pick out a wine that you like. My husband was hesitant about staying at a B&B, but now wants to stay at James Place again because of the great service and hospitality. read more
