I now know where I am going to watch my grand slam tennis match as there are a gazillion big screen TVs Checked out the Happy Hour with a friend where we both enjoyed our first Snakebite (layered draft beer with cider) and the Chicken Finger appetizer. Both are tasty and recommended. We left just as the pro football crowd started to dominate and the noise level increased exponentially. My wife and I had a free day in the Santa Monica/Venice Beach area, so we wandered to Main Street to one of our favorite stops: Lula Cocina Mexicana. It was closed; however Jameson's Irish Pub was open. It's a place I knew for years in what used to be Finn McCool's. As it turned out, the special that day wAs an all-you-can-eat taco extravaganza. Tacos at an Irish pub? Why not? So we both ordered a fish taco and a beef one with, I believe, prime rib. I kid you not, they were amazing. The beef ones come with a hint of horseradish. They come with chips and a couple of salsas. So delicious that we each did another order. Our server Melinda is friendly and attentive, she let us know exactly how the happy hour works here which could have been confusing otherwise. Our first time coming in. Sunday afternoon for early dinner. It was seat yourself and we found a table right by the front window. Easy enough. It was a bit loud. They had a DJ playing music in the corner and he played some good tunes, but we could not even talk to each other much. I love music but I do like to hear my guy across the table without shouting. Anyway... I ordered the Bangers and Mash..my favorite dish at any Irish pub. It was just the bangers and mashed potatoes. I prefer also having the peas with it.It was served with garlic mashed potatoes. Not a fan of that. If you had really good quality bangers, you miss the subtle flavors of the bangers. The gravy said it would be au jus style..yes a thick brown gravy. No flavor. I prefer a nice light gravy with onions with my B&M. This one just phones in being a gravy. The mashed potatoes had a "crust" on it like it had sat which is weird as our food came pretty fast. So it was just ok. Bangers with a flavorful gravy and perhaps potatoes colcannon would kick these up a notch..but perhaps their food is just secondary to all the drinking? They had 2 for 1 happy hour. I ordered an Irish coffee..my boyfriend drank the other one. They were nice and strong. I was intrigued by the peanut butter whiskey shots..oh man..dangerous. I was told it is peanut butter, white chocolate and whiskey..basically a peanut butter smoothie in a shot..with whiskey. I stopped at 2 since I already had the coffee. Yum! My guy had the fish and chips...he inhaled it. I don't like seafood so cannot tell you if it was good with my own taste..but if he liked it, it had to be good. Asked the waitress and she said because the hokey game was one. We didn't even go for the game nor did we watch the game or knew about it. Ugh... I live right around the corner and have come in often for a quick drink or bite. I have had a solid breakfast burrito here in the past... but today I had a different experience all together. My cousin and I stopped in for a quick Happy Hour drink around 3:30pm on a Thursday... I had a Bloody Mary... not impressive. No salt on the rim, the mix was lackluster ... zero spice or zest. Tasted like v8 and vodka. My cousin ordered a Jack and diet coke - can't mess that up. We also ordered a bowl of beef and cabbage stew. EWww... That was saltiest soup I have ever tried. I went into Jamesons and left to smoke a cigarette. I had a real ID and the bouncer told me it was fake. When i asked to speak to a manager, he refused to bring one to me and told me "call the cops they won't come". I refused to leave and it took me over 15 minutes to speak to a manger. The manger was just as disrespectful, and said he will "let me in" as long as I'm respectful. Even if the bouncer made a mistake, he denied me speaking to a manager and was extremely rude, including cussing at me telling me I was "fucking bugging". Mentioned to the older blonde female server that all I wanted for my birthday was the prime rib. She seemed to not care. Rudely took our order then I never saw her again even though we told her we wanted to get more food, we just need time to look over the menu. About 30 minutes later we flagged down another younger blonde female server who finally took our order and again disappeared, never checking on us again. The ambiance was fabulous, a live band was performing and they were good! Some people were dancing and many were singing along. The restaurant is open design, not a dark hole, TV screens all around with dozens of channels, located on a corner on Main. Don't remember the cross street. The food was very good although it was not served as quickly as I'm accustomed (but worth waiting for it). The staff was very friendly and attentive. Parking is available on the street(metered). We decided to come here after noticing it was no longer Rush Street. There are definitely pros and cons of this place. I ordered the fish and chips, which I wasn't a fan of. I got the two-piece option, which was a huge portion of fish and is probably big enough for anyone. The fish were good-sized, whole fillets. The batter was on the doughier side and would fall off the fish due to the grease. The entire dish was on the greasier side. Also, the fries were unevenly fried. Some were overly crispy and hard while others were softer. The 2 for 1 happy hour drink deal is pretty good. If you get a cocktail, you have the option of getting two singles or one double. All the cocktails are Jameson whiskey-based. If you're a voracious drinker, this is the place for you. I wasn't really in a drinking mood when I came, so I didn't take full advantage of this deal. I like that the prices here are relatively reasonable. They also have traditional pub food that I'm looking forward to trying. There are plenty of tv screens for watching sports games. The ambiance is okay. I like that the music they play is primarily classic rock. However, it's pretty loud here so you might have to shout when having a conversation. Entering the pub you get your own table and wait for your server. We did not get service immediately but it was ok since we were indecisive with our order and our server was so amazing and pleasantly nice. They have HAPPY HOUR, 2 for 1 drinks, who doesn't love that!! But is it really 2 for 1? My OPINION it's not. My friend got a Modelo for $9, and the second beer "free". But hey it does work out with their cocktails. Cranberry vodka cost me $11 and the second one free. I believe that's a great deal. BUT!!! Let's talk about their MENU. Their cocktail drinks and beer have no prices. WHY? So I was clueless of my total until I received the tab. It would be nice to have prices and it would be a tremendous help for the server. Unfortunately within time the pub was super packed, which our food took 45min to come out. Our server was super busy with other customers, I had to get up and ask the bar for more beer and napkins. I believe with more staffing this place would be more amazing. Despite them being busy I had an amazing time watching sports and watching their live band play. GREAT ATMOSPHERE!! I understand times are tough during COVID...I even got the pop up warning for leaving one star but one thing that's not in short supply is kindness. I started typing up this review a few months ago and still haven't been back. Now with more places closing it just makes more sense to me that business that show that they care about their work or their customers deserve that COVID times are tough warning but not this place. The manager who was working was unnecessarily mean for no reason. He seemed to be very stressed out and short with customers. I don't think it's stressful to wipe down a table and manage seating. Hostesses do it all the time with smiles on their faces for less pay. Anyways, I came in with a large group and we wanted to get seated near each other. Many of us were arriving at different times and didn't mind waiting until a table nearby became available. 2 groups were seated together and one person from the 3rd group was waiting until an additional table became available (these are all healthcare workers attending a happy hour when the safer at home order was lifted) when the rest of the group arrived a table on the other side of the space was opening up but we said we would wait another minute or two for the table next to our party to be cleaned off (literally the dishes were being removed) the manager forced us to sit on the other side even though we wanted to wait for the closer table. He sat 3 people at a large table instead the 6 or 8 that it could accommodate. So not only was the 3rd party seated on the other side of the outdoor space but the table was cramped. I'm not sure why he chose to go against our request or make things difficult for us. I ended up asking for an additional chair (which we requested when we arrived and wouldn't have needed at the larger table) and was given an attitude when asking. Kind of mocking me as I asked the question. The pub shouldn't have hired someone so immature to manage. Hopefully the management has changed since then but either way I'm not going back. The food was good and the servers are the only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star. I would have been happy to give this place a higher rating because everyone else seemed to be happy but the manager really ruined our night. read more

actually racist staff, me and my friends went to jamesons, some of us had freshly turned 21 but everyone had valid ids, the doormen said and i quote "why are your eyes so squinty, why are you smiling so much" - this was obviously because we were ready to have a good time at the bar, the doorman proceeded to verbally attack us and threaten us...we were no longer smiling. Really depends what you order. The fish and chips were enjoyable, but the coleslaw was horrible- limp cabbage and carrots floating in an insipid dressing. Chicken tenders were also good- ranch dressing is watery. The chilli skillet was tasty but the corn chips were stale. Made the mistake or ordering the kale Caesar- big mistake. Salad leaves were not fresh and not much kale. At the end of the day, this is a pub and if you stick to pub grub you will be ok. Really nice vibe and good music. read more

Used to enjoy going to this establishment for a fun crowd and moderately priced drinks (for LA) until i had my iphone stolen from my purse last month. Apparently, this is a very common occurrence as the next day, the employee at the Apple Store asked if my phone had been stolen from Jameson's before I had even said it was stolen. However, despite costing me more than a grand, I (ignorantly) decided to give this place another chance given I had had good experiences in the past here. In line, I warned my friends about the frequent theft and gripped my purse tightly under my arm. The bouncer (who didn't even look like he worked there as he was in no uniform and was standing in the middle of the sidewalk) stared at me the whole time and when we reached the front of the line, he told me I was too intoxicated to come in and in the most obnoxious way possible. I was sober. It is safe to say I would throw my wallet in the ocean before I gave this establishment another penny. read more

Best part of this place is the food! Ordered take out for the blue burger and prime rib sandwich. Seriously haven't falling in love with a sandwich in a while. It was one of those moments where you're so mesmerized by the food you forget you're even eating with someone else and all you can do is fit in mouthfuls of "this is so good" to each other. This is the best bar on Main st. Always lively, drinks prices reasonable. Lots of space so you will likely find a seat. Nice, open environment. The HH 2 for 1 is a great deal! A lot of the bar staff have worked here for years and that helps create a welcoming vibe. It's definitely favored by American sports fans so if like me, you are not interested in that at all, sit outside when there is a big game on otherwise it is hell. There are heaters and table service outside and security keep the Main st randoms away! The food menu is quite good but the quality of the food isn't so great. It's a pub, what do you expect? I would give Jameson's 5 stars if it wasn't for the unbearable volume of music that seems to be on the increase lately. It really ruins your night. I hope they have noticed people leave when they turn it up so loud. My recommendation is to go early, get the most out of HH and leave when they turn the awful College Kids soundtrack up to 11 which is usually around 7pm. read more

Great place if you're drunk. If not I would pass. Sat down to order lunch took forever before anyone even came to a table. I asked the waitress if the cod tacos were wild caught, her response was "we don't have cod". Me: yes you do your tacos are cod. Her: Oh well I don't know if they're wild caught. Me: that's fine, please ask the kitchen, if they are farm raised I will have a Caesar salad instead. Her: I'll be back let me go ask. Why? It's a pretty simple request. If they're not farm raised put the order in, if they are get the alternate the salad. Not complicated but apparently too complicated for her. She then proceeds to take the order of several other tables that came in after us in front of us and doesn't go to the kitchen or come back to take our order. We obviously left without waiting any longer to get service. This type of service and in attentiveness and frankly just rudeness is unacceptable from any restaurant even a pub. I've been living here for 30 years and I definitely won't be coming back here and giving this place another chance after the weird behavior today from our waitress and horrible service.
