if I could give a ZERO I would the worst experience I've ever had!! I brought my dog into have her tooth looked at after I called and said it had a chip and wanted to see if in needed to have anything done or if she was going to be fine. after the appointment my father picked up the dog and payed for me and told me what they did at the appointment and all they did was visually look at it and couldn't see if there was anything else wrong with the tooth but when I made the appointment they told me that they could do X-rays just to see if there were any cracks in the tooth and I would have to go somewhere else after I asked why they didn't tell me they didn't do x-rays when I set the appointment up the lady told me it was my fault and hung up on me. Safety to say I'll never be going back there and I switched to oakdale so much better and the people actually care for you animals! read more

We are very thankful for the vet and staff at Jamestown Vet. After they treated our dog Miley for multiple Beagle-related mischief, I brought her in because her face was swelling off and on and she was having a hard time eating. The vet, Tomi Sue Henderson, was always straight up with us. She did some blood work which came back with less than favorable results. We were given a treatment plan to make Miley comfortable. I always appreciated the fact that I didn't feel pressured into certain products or procedures. Her prices always seemed fair and not exorbitant. The staff here helped us take care of our old lady dog right until the very end. Even though Miley passed away the morning before she was going to be put to sleep, the staff still sent us a wonderful sympathy card. Horrible horrible vet! I wouldn't even bring a rock here I'm seriously surprised that they are some how still in business. Took my 1 year old cat in to be spayed later that afternoon I received a call letting me know that my cat was ready to be picked up and that surgery went well . When I arrived they kept her in the crate I brought her in which was honestly the first red flag as soon as I got her home and took her out I noticed that she was left with an opened wound. I quickly called Jamestown vet to see why and what happened the vet laughed at me and told me it was impossible and to bring her back the next day. When we got into the clinic she said it was infected and needed antibiotics (that they still made me pay for on-top of paying for the surgery) I personally feel they knew about the wound being left opened and they neglected to check her . I kept her in an after surgery suit as well as a cone to make sure she did not lick the area and had her complete the whole cycle of medication. This vet needs to be shut down and that lady's vet license needs to be taken away she has no idea what she's doing and is SO unprofessional not to mention the clinic is filthy. read more

It is not very professional to come out and yell and people for blocking the driveway. There are lots of people in need of food lately. The food bank occurs twice a month on this road. When someone is pulling up to park they are not always paying attention if the are blocking a driveway. You have 2 driveways so o e was clear for people to enter and exit. Yelling that people are stupid is not very kind or neighborly. Asking them to be careful next time and not block would be a better way to handle the situation. Ots called be professional. read more

I called Jamestown Vet crying because my dog was dying, and they said "We cant help you, we are not an emergency vet and you need to take him to Modesto", I told them he wouldnt make it that far, he was dying, and they said they couldnt help me, So I hung up and called Angles Camp Vet, and they said bring him in right away, it was a half hour away but we rushed him there, Angles Camp took him in and kept him over night, I called Jamestown vet back and asked if they had snake venom, and they said yes, I asked them why they wouldnt see my dying dog when he was bit by a rattle snake, and they said they were very busy today and there was only 2 people working . This review is to help anyone else that has to put their beloved pet down. You are already devastated by losing your best friend and sometimes are not thinking straight. A few years ago I had to go through the same thing, but she passed away at home. The Humane Society personal were very compassionate and took care of our cremation and even surprised me with a paw print in clay of some sort. The Staff at Jamestown Veterinary are all sweet and had convinced me to leave her there with them, that they take care of it now etc. I said ok thinking they are on the same page with the Humane Society and to make sure we get the paw print. Well we bring our girl home today and so disappointed because her paw print unlike before was black ink on a piece of paper. Devastated again, but what can you do. read more

This vet is beyond bad. I'm writing this story, as told to me last night, as simply as possible to encourage you to read it to the end. The lady said her beautiful dog had cancer and she and her vet had done everything possible to support quality of life for as long as possible. The day came when her beloved girl started having breathing troubles. The lady picked her up and put her in the car for the 30 minutes plus trip to her vet. The dog's distress worsened to a critical level when they got to Jamestown. The lady stopped there realizing her dog would not be able to make it to their own vet. She took her in the clinic and said her dog was suffering and asked to see the vet. (The dog was gasping for air). "Do you have an appointment?", the receptionist asked. "No, this is an emergency, I think my dog is dying!" "We can't see her without an appointment. Would you like to make one?" At that point other people in the waiting room said they would give up their appointments for her... The "doctor" came out and stood over the dying dog and said "you have two choices: 1. We can take her in the back and euthanize when we have the time.... or, 2. You can make an appointment." The then doctor stood over the lady's dog and just watched as she died. I was horrified. They said he was fine all throughout surgery, then they put him in the crate to recover, and CLEARLY DID NOT WATCH HIM CLOSE ENOUGH, because they say the dog "Just stopped breathing". Problem is, they didn't catch that we wasn't breathing till long after he was dead! They could have revived him had he been properly hooked up to monitors and watched closely. This dog was young, had no prior medical history, and should not have died. This is a result of the sheer negligence of Jamestown Vet. I took my dog to get spayed, she's an older dog who was born with mange, they told me she would need blood work because of her age, which was okay with me. After doing the blood work, they told me they couldn't spay her due to her skin condition. Although prior to the blood testing she knew my dog couldn't be spayed just by looking at her skin. Seemed like they were just trying to get money out of me. Employees were very rude. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Our cat ruptured a ligament in his knee a few month ago and we took him to Jamestown Veterinary Hospital for advice. The first recommendation was to restrict movement and see if he gets better; I appreciated that Dr Henderson didn't immediately talk us into surgery but after 4 weeks we decided to go through with it and replace the ligament. I admit I was a bit uncertain about the vets experience level since this injury is quite rare in cats (more common in dogs). But they did an amazing job! Surgery went well, their stuff was professional and straight to the point and prices were very reasonable. We called a few times with follow-up questions and found them to be very responsive. After a few weeks of healing and recovering we can hardly notice a difference in our cats gate and he is back to climbing trees and catching mice :-) Thank you Jamestown Veterinary Hospital!!! read more

Please dont ever take your pets to James Town Vet. I made a appointment two weeks ahead of time. For teeth cleaning and to get my dog spayed. They gave me a time and date . I called and added nail trimming and Anal glan cleaning . They said fine I asked what time they open . They said 8:30 I said I would be waiting I have a nine a clock appointment. They said she would have to stay over night I said no problem. So o get there at 8:00 play with dog and wait.829 rolls around lady jumps out of car with cat and waits at door.They help her then take four phone calls and 20 mins later say did you need something? Really I am just sight seeing here with a dog.So I tell her what I am Jere for . She can't find file. I say I have a appointment. well I can't fine it! With a attitude. I say well I do have an appointment I made it two weeks ago she looks down at her desk and she so here it is right in the middle of her desk. Then she says do the dog have anything to drink or eat since 8 o'clock last night I said I don't know it has food on the floor She says what we can't see her if we don't know I said nobody gave me instructions about what to do I called twice. I took a friend and her cat over to Jamestown Veterinary Hospital. The cat was comatose, and on the verge of death. The exam room door is open to the little waiting room. I personally had a full view of the Doctor take the cat out of the kennel by the scruff of her neck and throw her across the room. That cat was not awake, it was virtually gone. This vet has the cheapest prices around the area, but I would not recommend taking your pets there if spending a little extra isn't an issue. I've had a few problems with this vet. When my dog broke her leg they did repair it here at a great cost, but the metal piece they put in her leg was too long and it ended up poking through her skin causing quite a bit of pain I'm sure. I also do not like how quickly this vet diagnosis lumps. She examined my own dog and after about 10 seconds of looking and feeling the lump told me it was a fatty lump and not to worry about it. I got a second opinion where they actually did an aspiration and biopsy and turned out it was cancerous. I've seen her tell 2 other people that the lumps on their dogs were fatty lumps by doing the same method - feeling it for 10 seconds - and I worry that she does this often to dogs that do in fact have cancer growths. That aside, I was adopting a dog out and wanted to get him a pre-adoption medical exam, vaccines, and heartworm medication. I thought they could handle easy stuff and it would save me a little money. I gave them a copy of all his records and highlighted the paperwork and verbally told them that his rabies was good until 2016. Apparently that was not enough because the person who gave him the vaccine missed that and gave him another rabies shot anyway. AND they charged me for it! Even after I pointed out the mistake they offered no refund for the rabies shot charge or apologies. Then I got a call from the adopters and they said they had called Jamestown vet because they were having tapeworm issues and the vet told them that his Hartguard would kill them (it wont). When she told them this they then gave her Sentinel and Bravecto and told her to give him these two products along with this Hartguard. This is TERRIBLE advice, as giving two doses of heart worm medication at once can be dangerous. Luckily the adopters went to Mono Way and were told not to do that and were given a simple dewormer to get rid of the tapeworms instead. I'm so glad she decided to call me instead of follow Jamestown's advice as they could have easily overdosed the dog for recommending that type of treatment. After this latest experience (this happened beginning of Sept), my faith in Jamestown vet has been permanently taken away and I will no longer be using them for anything let alone recommending them. read more

I would never ever take my animals here again. A couple of weeks ago I was in the bay area and my boyfriend was in Copperopolis with our 3 dogs. The baby 4.5 months old whom I rescued from the streets at 5 weeks old weighing only about 3 lbs. barely alive. I got up every two hours to feed her milk while working full time and coming home to make sure she was getting what she needed in order to live. Well, my bf called me at 6:30am on a Saturday to say that there was something wrong with the baby. Normally she is full of energy you cannot stop her, well he had to pick up her and take her downstairs, she went to the bathroom and got on the couch, she would shaking really bad, her head was low, tail in-between her legs, white phlegm coughing up and green mucus our of her nose. I told him to call the nearest vet which was Jamestown vet as we go past it every time we go to Sonora, he got the voice message to say that they opened up at 8:30am. He got there before 8:30am and as soon as they opened took my dog in there. The lady behind the counter couldn't give a **** that my dog looked like she was dying. She proceeded to say that the Dr. is not taking new patients. He was not there to be a new patient, he was there to make sure our dog was not going to die. She continued to say that the Dr. is not taking new patients and therefore they would not see her. This made him utterly sick that a vets would not look at her to make sure there was nothing wrong. He told her that the voicemail says nothing about the Dr. not seeing new patients or wouldn't see an animal that was sick and not know if she was going to die. Her disgusting response was "well I wasn't the one that made the voicemail recording" so he told her maybe they should change it. He left, and I ended up having to leave the bay area, so that I could meet him so that I could take her to our vet, when I got her I was shocked at the condition she was in, and I was very sad that a vet would not take a look at her after I had seen what she looked like. I took her and thought that she was dying on me on my way to the vets. I literally thought my baby was going to be dead by the time I made it to the vets. Thank God though we made it. The doctor saw her and turns out she contracted phenomena. She is now back to her bubbly, energetic self. As far as this vet goes, they have no compassion at least the girl at the front desk didn't. I would hope that the Dr. does being a vet, but that vet clinic should hire people who love animals and should never ever turn an animal away that could be dying. read more

I have lived in Jamestown, CA for about 8 years. I had two elderly cats when I moved here and the Vet was very compassionate at the end of their lives. I have since had two dogs and one cat. She has been very kind and thorough in handling all of them. I really like the Vet and the women who work in the clinic. They are reasonably priced and getting an appointment has never been a problem. I would recommend this Hospital to anyone. read more
