During 2022 my husband and I would gamble exclusively at Jamul Casino. I would not say we gambled extreme amounts of money, but at least three times a month we would go. We stopped going to Jamul after March ish of this year for various reasons including the commute but continued to receive promotional credit, gifts, and other mail/email invites to come back. In July both my husband and I got an email offering us $100 (myself) and $75 (husband) of credit during all of August basically. Normally we would get $25 max so $100 was enough for us to make the trip. When we arrive, I swipe my card at the kiosk and do not see any offers. It was extremely crowded for a Friday night when there were no major events going on, that I remember, which was odd. I then sit down on a slot machine to check for the $100 credit and it is not there. Only $20. I then get in line to talk to someone at customer service and I show them the email and the attendant says: "Sorry but we sent that to multiple people on accident. We apologize". Basically, it was a lie. He then said they sent another email with an explanation and apology but I had my emails filtered right in front of him and there was nothing there. There was no solution. Just a "sorry". No honor to their mistake. No proof of said email they sent. No complimentary dinner at least... nothing. I took my L and moved on UNTIL my husband sits down and HE DOES HAVE the entire amount ($75) he was promised on the email. I was furious. How could his credit be right but mine was not? Deceptive Video Roulette at Jamul Casino - BE WARNED! I have played roulette at many casinos, but nothing could have prepared me for the misleading setup at Jamul Casino. The moment I walked in, I noticed a seemingly standard automated roulette table, though strangely empty. I should have taken that as a warning. Feeling confident, I placed a $40 bet, leaned over to watch the ball spin--and guess what? There was NO BALL. I double-checked. Still no ball. I waved over security, thinking surely this was a mistake or some kind of malfunction, but no. I was informed that this was "video roulette." Let me be clear--this table has a physical, spinning roulette wheel, but the spin is completely fake, just there for show while the results are controlled by a computer screen. At no point was there any clear signage warning players about this deceptive setup. At every other casino I've been to, roulette is a game of physics--gravity, friction, chance--not an algorithm hiding behind a phony spinning wheel. This setup is misleading, and the fact that the table was empty makes it obvious that other players have already figured out the scam. If the game is digital, fine--but be upfront about it! Put up clear signs informing players that the wheel is just for decoration and that they're actually playing a computer screen. Imagine a bingo hall did this?! My grandmother would be up in arms! This experience felt like a blatant attempt to trick players into thinking they were engaging with an automated real, fair game. I left feeling cheated and disgusted. I am somewhat sad in writing this review because I really did like Jamul casino however the events on Saturday made up my mind to never return. I want to start with the positive. Jamul events were always fun and they knew exactly how to keep getting you back each weekend. From Bingo, to gift card give a ways to shopping sprees it was always fun. The entertainment was also way superior to the other casinos in San Diego. I also want to recognize the staff from the following departments: Valet- Always friendly and always reminded me of the daily promotions Poker Room- Dealers were always friendly and caring Valet Attendants- They are the quickest at paying out jackpots. Very Friendly Now for the events of Saturday April, 27th and the reason I wont be going back. As a regular player, you get comp food every week. My go to place was Emerald Chinese. The food is very good and my go to item was the teriyaki chicken bowl. The only issue is I don't like mushrooms so I always ask no mushrooms. After a day of gambling, I would always order two entrees to go one being the teriyaki chicken bowl and one other. The issue each time is that they either messed up by not putting rice for two entrees or they put mushrooms in the teriyaki chicken bowl each time. I spoke to a manager over the phone twice about it and he stated he spoke with his staff, which I know he did because they are friendly and apologized the next time I was in. We now get to the day of Saturday, I am there for lunch and decide to eat in. I ordered just my teriyaki chicken bowl and an ice tea. I tell the cashier no mushrooms. I notice on the receipt it doesn't say no mushrooms. I said hey this doesn't say no mushrooms, she says don't worry I put no mushrooms. I get my order and guess what... of course there are mushrooms. I bring the order back to the counter and ask for the manager. Cashier goes to the back office and after 4 minutes comes back out by herself. She apologizes as the counter lady points to the receipt and says it doesnt say no mushroom. I tell the lady at this point I dont ever want to eat there again and I would like my account refund for the item. She said fine. At this point she knows she has to bring out a manager as she cant do the refund. Manager Ruben comes out and it is apparent he is not happy that he is bothered with this. I explain the situation that this has happened in the past and that the staff need training on how to place orders. I said I wont be eating at Emerald ever again and that I would like the refund back on my club card as I would be going to the food court to get something else. He said of course and walked towards the pub. Note to Ruben: At this time it is your time to shine. You should have owned the issue and ensured it was resolved immediately. I went over to the food court and got in line as the line was about 10 minutes long. I thought for sure that would give him enough time to make the correction. I get to the front and the lady says there is no comp on the account for $20. I then go over to the pub to speak with the manager. Ruben is not to be seen so I ask the host Elani to speak with Ruben. She asked what it was about and I said he was going to add the comp back to my account and it isn't there. She said oh because it takes 2-3 hours. I told her then he needs to find another way to pay for the order at the food court and asked her to call him. She then rolled her eyes. Elani, pretty sure your job description says provide excellent customer service and not act like a child. Elani goes to the back and returns with no Ruben or any other manager. She instead says it will be on the card within 5-10 mins. I go back to the food court in 10 mins and still no comp. I then head over to the players club to speak with them. While I am waiting in that long line, I do get a call from the players club saying they put the comp on the card. None of these individual events would have lead me to never coming back but the constant issues at Emerald, Ruben not taking ownership, and Elani's attitude combined have. I hope the casino can use this review as a way to improve their F&B operations. read more

My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Prime Cut Steakhouse, located within Jamul Casino. This place has outstanding ambiance coupled with a nice view of the rolling Jamul Countryside. We were greeted warmly and had warm bread in front of us before we knew it. After looking over our dining choices, we came about the following choices: As my friend is rather large, he chose the 66oz Porterhouse Steak, baked potato, and wedge salad. All were excellent. Steak was cooked to perfection and the potatoe was loaded as advertised. I had the 22oz Rib-Eye, loaded baked potato, and started with the New England clay chowder. The chowder had generous portions of clams in a savory base. Absolutely outstanding. Again, the steak was cooked to perfection, (medium rare of course) and the potato was more than I could eat! Very small local casino with just enough machines and tables. I'm used to bigger casinos with more variety but this place gets the job done if you have an itch lol. There's a good amount of bars, a food court with plenty of places, and a couple sit down restaurants. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at Jamul Casino. The valet drivers here cannot be trusted at all. When I got my car back, it was obvious they had gone through my backseat and stolen my belongings. They even had the nerve to cause an issue over a "bong" that they wouldn't have even known about unless they were digging through my stuff. On top of that, some of my weed was missing. This is beyond unacceptable--valet has no business touching, let alone stealing, anything from a customer's car. If you value your privacy and your property, do NOT trust them with your vehicle. read more

I've had many up and down times with this place, but all in all I feel it earns a mostly 3 star rating along with all the other casinos in the county. Keep in mind the odds are against you just like anywhere else you gamble. That being said, I've left here more often than not with a few dollars more than when I walked in. And who doesn't like that?? While they claim they are the closest casino, obviously this depends on where your driving from right? But they are the closest one to me at least, as I can arrive in 20 minutes max from home. This is one of the good things. I can remember when it was Hollywood Casino and they were backed by Tropicana until they went solo. Not much has changed although they seem to give more free gifts now based on play. The food is average to slightly above at all the restaurants and food court, with the exception of Tony Gwynn's and Prime Cut being solid 4 stars or maybe even better to some. The Jive lounge is the main bar and drinks have been prepared well, and I like the fact they have Aloha Sculpin always on tap. They have a well-designed parking garage that has 5 levels as well as free valet which I've never used since many spaces are typically available. Beware of the shady tweeker types that seem to hang around the parking garage with occasional outbursts of foul language directed at their companions or random people. This rating is based off the Blackjack table games at Jamul Casino. This is be far the worst casino to play blackjack at, the dealer seems to win at around 90% or higher most of the time. How did I get this number? Well simple. $1,000 buy in, multiple sessions for a total of $5,000+ at various different black jack tables - to see that if odds were to be accurate I had to move around to different Blackjack tables. Session 1: Lost 24 hands - Won 1 Session 2: Lost 27 hands won 2 Session 3: Lost every single hand on a double deck table - did not get 1 winning hand (huge red flag) Session 4: Lost 31 hands - Won 3 Session 5: Lost 16 hands - Won 0 These are real documented sessions, with witnesses to these sessions. This is absolutely odd and a game that's 49/51 shouldn't NOT be this lopsided... There's different something strange happening at their blackjack tables - don't believe me go play and move around, you'll lose at the lest 90% of your budget real FAST... Best advice: STAY AWAY FROM THEIR TABLE GAMES AND PLAY SLOTS OR ENJOY THE BARS - table games are not it at all in here - I have over 20 years of experience playing blackjack at various casinos around the world...
