I got the red velvet cake and an iced coffee with vanilla. I liked the red velvet cake. It wasn't too sweet, which I liked. It was in the fridge, so it was a little chilled, but understandable. I also got the coffee, which at first few snips was too sweet, even after I tried mixing it around. I let the ice melt a little, but in think it's just not my favorite coffee. I think I would go back and try a different coffee next time. I enjoyed the spot and all the natural light that came into the place. I discovered this cafe since it's across the street from my church. It's a little bit weird that they don't have a menu with prices, but turns out the prices are very reasonable for omelette. Veggie omelette is $9.75 and included toast with butter. The bagel sandwiches is around $10 too the last time I came. I paid at the counter and there's a lot of tables to sit and meet friends for breakfast or brunch. I guess they're a husband and wife team. read more

This place is great. I really like the ambiance with their art on the walls , which definitely featured young local artists. I enjoyed looking at the cute paintings as Marvin Gaye played in the speakers, while I waited for my bagel sandwich. I ordered the Jamaican bagel sandwich to go~ and I asked for extra green peppers to make it spicy. It was delicious and nothing about it disappointed and I wish I ordered more. It was like weirdly done on the outside, (overcooked and strangely crispy) and yet, undercooked and wet on the inside. The feta was already salty, and it was way oversalted. I'm bummed even leaving a negative review because I love supporting local and the shop is cute, and the people are nice. But the service takes WAYYYY too long. I'm talking about over 30 minutes for a bagel sandwich. It seems like it's always one person in there working, and that person will stop doing what they're working on for you and take the new person who's just walked in to order, or they'll answer the phone or someone will come in and talk to them etc, and it's just like the person gets distracted and doesn't just focus on each order and get it done and then move onto the next. So then multiple people start coming in to order and it gets backed up and your order is still sitting there half made. For literally a bagel sandwich alone. I've also seen where I'm the only person/the only order, and yet the one person behind the counter still takes 30+ minutes to make a bagel sandwich. We've given this spot a handful of tries whether walking in to order or ordering online for pickup, and without fail something is always missing as well. The avocado is never on the sandwich even though it's been paid for. If the avocado actually makes it onto the sandwich, one breakfast sandwich doesn't have egg and cheese or something. This literally just happened to us where I got the full everything sandwich FINALLY the right way, but my partner got a bagel with only avocado and bacon on it and that's it. Are you for real? It's a breakfast sandwich FROM THE MENU and should have egg and cheese on it. I just don't know how this keeps happening. Ordered a blended mocha and there was no coffee in it, so it's just a chocolate shake?? It's like light on the chocolate too so I drank slushie milk I guess. Ordered a regular hot coffee with half and half, and there's no flavor to the coffee at all. I'm not sure if the beans are burnt or they're not cleaning out the machine or who knows what? It's just so odd, I put extra creamer and sugar to help with the taste and it does not help. All I've ever ordered here was the ful medames (extra spicy) and coffee. I want to try some of the breakfast menu items, but I keep coming back to the medames because I come here specifically for it. The amazing dish (fava beans cooked, blended and mixed with fragrant middle eastern spices served warm, with some fresh chopped onions, greens, tomatoes and crumbled feta to garnish) is made with nothing less than pure love by the sweet and amazing woman cooking near the front entrance. It's served with a side of warm, crusty whole grain roll for mopping up every delectable morsel. Think of it as a healthier, vegan middle eastern version of chili. It is so simple, yet so delicious and hearty, and soul-satisfying. So good for a nice, healthy lunch and at around 12$, pretty affordable as well. It is also very hard to find on menus here - only a handful of restaurants in the city serve some form of it. Coffee (drip) is also delicious! Can't speak for the espresso yet, but they have a nice looking machine and grind the beans fresh, so definitely gonna try that soon. read more

Service was extremely slow and inefficient. Cashier had to come over to our table and ask again what was ordered. We ordered 2 sandwiches without mayo/mustard and both were prepared dripping in this gross mustard/mayo combination spread. We also ordered a wrap that was delivered at least 15 minutes after the sandwiches. The wrap was also dripping in this mustard/mayo spread. That wrap was ordered by someone who loves mayo, but when she bit into it, the spread dripped out all over her hand and down her arm. At that point we had been been there about an hour and no way were we going to ask them to remake the food and wait again. We threw away our food and left without really eating more than about 10-20% of it. The smoothie and blended mocha the girls ordered were good, but I had to ask about both of those before they were made after the sandwiches and wrap were served. The cashier also had to come back to ask what the drinks were. Overall, the food would have been decent if it hadn't been dripping in mayo/mustard. The employees were nice, but were with new or not trained. What a waste of time and money! read more

I came by to grab a quick bite for lunch and ordered the 'Asmarino' sandwich (chicken and bacon) on a wheat roll. It's a hot sandwich and was delicious with fresh ingredients. It came with a side option (chips, potato salad or macaroni salad) and I got the macaroni salad which was good too. Total cost with a 20oz soda drink came out to about $16 after tax which is very affordable for a quick lunch in SF. Service was great too. I went here for the first time to get a sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich. First off, it was so good, although it wasn't a sausage patty, it was sliced sausages. Not gonna lie, that through me for a loop. Second off, the staff are so kind and friendly. You can tell they really know their customers, and have established themselves at this corner. But lo and behold, the revamped (or more accurately, revamping) Fillmore district below Geary has one that is actually more than decent. It is called rather uncreatively...the Fillmore Street Cafe. And surprise!...their sandwiches are quite tasty concoctions and quite a mouthful. It's a sunny place with a big, water-themed mural of famous jazz musicians and singers...not sure why they're all in water except to assume it's a reference to the economic drowning caused by the Bush administration. OK, that was a politically motivated stretch... I had the Portabello Veggie Burger with potato salad, which I expected to be a portabello but was in fact a ground burger. Surprisingly tasty and hearty. My friend Carlos had a Smoked Turkey with Havarti, and that was awfully tasty for what you would assume would be a generic sammie. I think the reason is that they toast the French roll to just the right crispiness and then cut it into three pieces (see my photos). The sandwiches are also relative bargains since they are in the $5.50-$7 range. The one drawback is that the restroom is outside around the corner and akin to a National Geographic trek to find it. Decent cafe in the outskirts of J-town Overall the place is ok. There was a huge TV with the World Cup playing, and the place was filled with construction-working-types who were hanging out cheering on their team. Overall the place feels like a sports bar, except the lighting is bright and there is no alcohol. The cake on the counter looks like they have been sitting there for a while. Although, the menu looks pretty big, and it looks like a lot of the other customers ordered breakfast platters and bagels etc, so I assume this must be a very popular place for breakfast food. The coffee I ordered was ok. The wifi was also very fast and consistent. Overall, a normal, no-BS coffee shop place. A nice place to go to for wifi and an occasional cup of joe. read more
