Just visited one time so far. Tried out their breakfast served all day. The interior decor is definitely channeling Montana. With the wood paneling & antler light fixtures, very nice home town feel. If you prefer they do offer outside patio seating. The french toast with banana and peanut butter sounded fantastic. I thought the peanut butter would be baked in the bread like a cookie. But It's not, just put on top. Comes with eggs and choice of meats. Overall I liked my dish since the toast was moist and flavorful. Just was left wanting more sliced banana. Would come again to try out more menu items. I like how the dinner specials come with a free dessert. We stopped for breakfast on our way back from San Diego to Arizona. We walked right in , we did not have a wait so this was already a good sign. We were immediately served with coffee and drinks by Rosa. Coffee was good , just good old fashioned coffee . Pedro was our server and explained the menu and gave suggestions. The place has a country vibe and was clean, charming , and welcoming. The dishes exceeded our expectations and are very generous with their portions . My friends and I stumbled upon Janet's Montana Cafe on the way back from a camping trip and what a pleasant surprise! The restaurant was incredibly homey, with a great menu, affordable prices, and some knockout breakfast dishes. We were fortunate enough to walk right up on a Sunday morning and were given a seat on the patio, so we could bring our dog. There were a ton of pastries and baked goods on display and they all looked amazing. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage. A lot of brunch spots serve "cinnamon roll French toast" that's just seasoned / sugared like a cinnamon roll, but this one was made with the actual pastry from the bakery - it was incredible. Definitely homemade. Even the side of eggs was delicious, perfectly seasoned. The portions were very generous and we all left with leftovers (ok, I didn't, the french toast was too good not to inhale in one sitting!). I only wish we lived closer to this place, but I guess it would be dangerous if we did! read more

We went there for the first time today and it was delicious! The service is exceptional and they made us feel right at home. They have the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. The biscuits are huge, fluffy, buttery, and absolutely smothered in gravy. A half order would have been plenty. I always get country fried steak at a new breakfast spot and theirs was decent. I wouldn't say the best I've had, but still delicious. Home fries seemed a little undercooked but we still crushed them. The ambience is top notch! Woodsy, outdoorsy, antler chandeliers, beautiful wood paneling. we were sat right next to the Christmas tree and fireplace, it was like sitting in a cozy mountain cabin which is right up my alley. Good food, good service, GREAT ambiance. Expect it to be crowded, for there to be limited parking, and for there to be a wait to be seated. There are other restaurants with good food and better pricing, but Janet's definitely offers a special something with their friendly staff, delicious baked goods, and atmosphere. This is one of those places I try to take people when they have never been to Alpine. They are known for their breakfast, but also serve a delicious lunch menu. Came here for family breakfast to celebrate my niece's birthday, what a great spot! We chose to sit outside on the large patio, so peaceful. My sister lives in Alpine and they come all the time but it was new for me. The absolute sweetest staff from the servers to the bussers, everyone was genuinely so nice and friendly. Food comes in huge portions and everything was so flavorful. The only downside is the lack of parking, we ended up across the street and there are no cross walks across the busy street. read more

I LOVE JANETS This time I ordered from their Sunday special menu. We had 4 meals and the total was only $50 which is really good in my opinion. The portions are also huge! I moved to Alpine last October and have been wanting to try Janet's. We finally went this week, and it did not disappoint! This is my new favorite breakfast place! Despite the full parking lot, we were seated right away (weekday morning.) I ordered the Spinach Omelette without Bacon, Home Fries and the Honey Bran Muffin. The omelette was served with the most delicious home made salsa, and everything was equally delicious! I ended up taking the Muffin home for dessert later, because I was completely stuffed! Great service, lovely atmosphere. There was a bit of a wait to sit on the patio, and I wished we would have waited, becuase it is so pretty outside. read more

Comfort food at it's best! Found this spot on the way back to San Diego after a day of hiking around Green Valley Falls. Janet's is the perfect pit stop to curb the hanger! I had a blue cheese and avocado burger...spent lots of time agonizing over the menu. Almost went with the Reuben...their breakfast selection looked lovely, too! They serve brkfst all day long...I saw a plate of french toast and another of eggs Benedict waft by; will have to try those another time. Husband got the country fried steak. Also amazing! They also have a nice selection of pies and pastries in a glass case to ogle as soon as you walk in, in the hostess area, taunting you while waiting to get seated. Came her two separate times.. first time, we ordered the Wednesday special, pork roast and roast beef.. both are pictured. The other time we went, my whole group ordered the Thursday which is the steak medallions (menu for this is attached). All their meals came with either soup or salad, rolls and cornbread for the table and a dessert (only pies or cake slice). Both meals were AMAZING!! I prefer the beef pot roast. The sauce is very good and the meat is very tender. The steak medallions are my fave. The meal came with 4, a potato and steamed veggies. I inhaled this meal. lol. Now for dessert, we had the carrot cake the first time and for the second time we had pecan pie and peanut butter and chocolate pie. ALL WERE SPECTACULAR! I bought their 4 pack of sweet mini pecan buns to take home and A-OK!! Anyway, servers here are very nice and attentive. I highly recommend this.. Their brunch menu is very good too. read more

The receptionist told us it would take about 20 minutes to get seated and rightly so, staff was kind and very conscious about the clients making the environment very friendly and felt welcomed, the ambiance was very family oriented. However, if you sit in the back room with the bar area and the coffee drink machines, you may want to make sure you're not right up against the counter because the blender going constantly for the coffee drinks really stifles the conversation all I can say is the drinks must be really good because that blender was going constantly, next time I'll have to try some thing from the coffee bar.
