    Bassinet seat

Flew japan airlines in October 2025. First time for us flying Japan airlines to Tokyo and overall it was an ok experience. First of all it took us forever to check in, maybe like an hour half total. We waited in line for maybe like 30 mins and then spent 1 hour with the agent. We had a lap infant and somehow we loss all our seats that we had originally picked so they were scrambling to try find us seats together. The flight itself was pretty nice though. I requested a bassinet seat so my son could use that when he took his nap. The seat next to me was empty so it didn't feel as crowded. Food was pretty decent and service was exceptional on the flight, better than even service on my first class flight on ANA. Will be flying on JAL again this year so I'm looking forward to it.

Such a difference flying with Japan Airlines The meals served are definitely better and included in an international flight. The flight attendants are ALL young, slender, cordial and pretty. We rode on this airlines from Honolulu to Haneda and back. Our tour to Okinawa and Tokyo booked 17 of us plus one tour escort on the same flight. Seats were not assigned til we checked in but my request for an aisle seat was granted. One flight attendant who escorted us to our seats kindly showed me an extra roomy restroom on the left side of the plane since we were one of the first on board. I'd fly on this airline again in a heartbeat.

Offering a comparison of Japan Airlines and ANA (All Nippon Airways): In comparison to ANA: - Kids meals are standard on JAL (Kids meals must be requested on ANA) - Miso soup is served with every meal on JAL - Meals are better on ANA (There was hardly any beef in this "gyudon.") - JAL offers discounted fares for children (2-11) on international flights (ANA terminated their child fares on 1/31/24). Overall, I've had great experiences with JAL. Would highly recommend!

It's been a minute since I've been on this side of HNL. Our 2024 vacation to Japan is the reason for the return! Our bags from OGG were automatically transferred so all we had to do was check in at the gate counter. The plane was a Boeing 787-9, not too big, not too small but just right. We normally fly first or biz, but due to our late booking, we got stuck in steerage, I mean coach, which wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Seating was 2-4-2 with ample leg room. We received a delish welcome snack (arare), dinner (teri chicken & rice or mushroom cream pasta), snack with dessert (tuna sand & Haagen Dazs ice cream) and all the drinks our hearts desired. The movies were lacking though, very dated and not plentiful, so definitely download your own! Power outlets are beneath all seats. SERVICE: Asian airline service is second to none, from the counter, to the flight attendants and everyone else involved. Take note, America. Yeah, right... OVERALL: Your best option for travel to The Land of the Rising Sun.

I HATE flying so my giving 5 stars to an airlines is truly saying something. I didn't notice the amenities in the bathroom, so not sure if they still have the perks that Jace mentioned in his review (jealous!), but I was impressed with the bidets in the toilet - it felt like we were already in Japan! I loved all the food options - we weren't able to figure out how to get the kids bentos (too cute!, someone mentioned to call in for the kids bentos if you booked using miles), but we ordered the fruit plate cause we knew our kids are picky but would totally go for the fruit. I enjoyed the entire mapo tofu bento and fruit, the kids shared the other chicken pasta dish, and my husband enjoyed their vegan options. We all felt like we were in first class for a moment when we enjoyed their ice cream!! The kids were also thrilled that miso soup was a beverage option! They also put lids and straws on the kids' beverages (made me think of the time on the other airlines that didn't, and apple juice went alllll over) and gave us a complimentary drawing pad - so smart and thoughtful! The complimentary eye mask provided excellent coverage for a relaxing trip! And when my phone ran out of interesting downloaded stuff to view, I enjoyed their movie and tv options on their screens. Even though I can't stand flying, I was really happy with our experience!

Pardon my Japanese "旅はまだ途中だぞ!" As my journey is still in the process Japan Airlines is my go to for all things Japan travels as they just do everything right. Just from the start as booked Business Class I don't miss looking at the economy line (sorry!) as you sail in the designated area and the check in process was just a breeze...walk up and get processed. They checked our bags and noticed that one of the lock wasn't a TSA lock which save us the possible damage it could have cause so I got it removed and continued to give us all the information we needed and we were on our way. The check in process was just as smooth directing us to our seats and instantly got me all relaxed as the comfort reclining seats shuts my whole vibe down as I checked out the menu to decide on which one which is usual the western as it doesn't have much seafood along with a Blood Mary...omg totally developed my deep asian glow, we do have unlimited request for snacks and drinks which was nice though I did sleep through most of the time. Just before landing we were given a warm eye mask where with a click it warms up to give you a fresh look after a long 8hrs 20mins flight. Thank you for taking great care of my journey as it's a plan that I was just something I needed so badly. どうもありがとうございます!

Cannot beat JAL. The 1st thing I realized is that I didn't need to be a jacka$$ and rush into the plane to hurry and get overhead cargo space. It appears that enough people follow the carryon rules that even though I was absolutely the last person to get on the plane, I had the entire space above me available for my backpack. The 2nd thing is space. I don't know the actual dimensions, but I didn't feel cramped, neither did my family. They asked me if we were in the economy class. 3rd, the food is GOOD! There is real silverware with meals that you can't repurpose for bricks. I even prefer the simple sandwich snack they served than the hard brick sandwiches that come from other airlines. And desert was ICE CREAM! Yes, not a stupid cookie. 4th, the bathrooms are larger. Yup... you can turn around and to the hokey-pokey if you want. 5th, the windows gradually shade to your liking. If you want to block the sun but still see outside, press a button to your liking and boom! You don't have to squint or disturb the person sleeping next to you. 6th, they give EVERYONE free earphones. So if you forget your earphones and are tired of reading lips for the movies... don't worry. 7th, it's quiet. Compared to other airlines. And there was no drama.

:( Had to cancel....Sakura Season next year!

As a result of Covid19 and our inability to fly to Osaka, this review is about the JAL phone service. Along with thousands of other travelers concerned about their flight during this crazy time, we had to call and cancel. Naturally their call center was overwhelmed. Naturally we were saddened to have to cancel. But when you have lemons, you make lemonade. Per social distancing rules, we dialed in. Thank you JAL for having a toll free number for U.S. residents to use and for having English speaking phone operators. Regardless of our two hour wait time, the pleasant lady who answered our call was super kind and patient. She treated us as if we were her first customers and our situation was not stressful to her. In a matter of minutes, she pulled up our reservations, gave us the update, and expeditiously handled our call with the most professionalism I ever encountered over the phone. Domo arigato, we'll see Sakura blossoms next season!

Flight to Narita Airport via Japan Airlines from Honolulu... Our tour company booked our flights on Japan Airlines. We got credited partial miles on Hawaiian Airlines since they're partners. Our tour leader told us that we would get a meal and a snack, so I didn't really bring food with me on the plane. In preparation, I looked at the Beverage Menu... oooh... something different: JAL Original Drink - SKY TIME "Kiwi". Of course, I got it! Ummm... it was like a melona-ish flavor. I got Orange Juice for the next round. Haha! The meal was ok! I liked the green salad the best! The snack was a pasta topped with a sweet ground beef topping. My favorite was the Big Island Cookies! Yum! The authentic hot green tea was a winner - I had two cups! I also appreciated the free luggage, the polite service, and personal monitors. I sure saw a lot of movies! Also, in the restroom, toothbrushes and toothpaste are provided for customers' comfort...how thoughtful! We each got a blanket and a pillow, even though it was a daytime flight. The landing was so smooth that my travel partner didn't even know that we touched down! I think I still would want to fly Hawaiian Airlines to compare. I'm a loyal customer of HAL and Japan Airlines gives some great competition!

I recently flew one-way with Southwest Airlines from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) Terminal 2 to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). They had been my favorite domestic carrier for years (I wished they flew internationally!) until Alaska Airlines dethroned them with more routes. Southwest Airlines cornered the southwest and west coast air traffic markets, respectively, and have flown them for business and pleasure. Did this airline still rule the southwest skies!? PURCHASE(S) One-Way Wanna-Get-Away Airfare ($253.10): Nowadays, I booked one-way flights because I usually had more flexibility when I needed to return. However, in this particular case, I needed to be back in Los Angeles for a work event the next afternoon. Since I booked the flight less than three weeks before its departure, I was basically screwed for domestic air travel during the medium season (I returned right after the spring break window). On a red-eye direct flight that arrived in Los Angeles around 5:30am the next morning, it allowed me enough time to get home, get ready, and get to my work event. Checked Luggage (Varied; N/A this instance): This once FREE amenity has since been removed and now was a paid expense. I traveled very light, especially for a quick trip such as this, so I only had a carry-on and backpack. FLIGHT EXPERIENCE ~Check-in: I checked-in online 24-hours prior (Group 3), had my QR code boarding pass on their app, and traveled with only a carryon and backpack, so I was ready to go! I had Global Entry & TSA PreCheck, so my time with security checkpoints and the necessary TSA pleasantries was efficient and minimal. When it was time, passengers were queued-up in order of their boarding group (i.e. A/B/C). The flight felt like it arrived shortly after it departed. ~Seat(s): 27A Window - Come on, it was the same sardine can like all airplanes these days. Recently, Southwest Airlines started assigning seats, so it was no longer a free-for-all once you boarded the plane. I always favored a window seat towards the back of the plane close to the restroom and snacks. I was lucky enough to almost get exactly that! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=mPgY2GS6Z8NBlgeqkY9tkw ~In-flight Meals (Varied; FREE this instance): I opted for my normal Seagram's Ginger Ale and this time a bag of almonds https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=5-89IYcr8bJRpTt-GoMSwg on Southwest Airlines that I loved. ~Lavatory: I'd done my business at the terminal before we left, so I had no idea of the condition of the restroom closest to me. ~Service & Amenities: All uniformly-dressed flight attendants were adequate and spoke perfect English. None of the seats had video monitors for movie/show watching, music listening, and games playing. The seats themselves were roomy enough. No blankets, headphones, or pillows were provided. The drink/snack cart rolled out shortly after the plane leveled off after takeoff. There were no carry-on baggage fees. PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I traveled through and had no need to park (I was dropped off). However, the airport offered onsite parking garages with rates that varied depending on length of stay from FREE (less than 15 minutes) and around $1.00 (16-30 minutes) to a range of $27.00/daily maximum (8+ hours). Because my gate was located within Terminal 1 of departing flights, you had to already be an outgoing or incoming passenger to even get here, so parking would be a moot point. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Located deep into Terminal 2 (specifically near Gates E4-E10) filled with several gates, plenty of reasonably-priced eateries and duty-free shops, and a handful of monitors as you passed them along the way. There were sufficient places to sit in the terminal with plenty of natural and electric lighting. Once on the airplane, it seemed like any other, so nothing really needed to be said or seen here, but I wished I recalled the type of plane since I was nerdy like that! ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. I liked to be unencumbered and unfettered, so the least amount of clothing, especially while I traveled through an airport, the better! OVERALL My one-way non-stop flight on Southwest Airlines out of Honolulu (HNL) was fine and got me to Los Angeles (LAX) safely which truthfully was all that mattered to me on any flights. I wished there were seat video monitors that helped pass the time. In any case, I'd fly and recommend them again. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $253.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.0 STARS

A week later BKK-MNL on 04/20/24 and return flight MNL-HNL on 04/27/23. All my reviews in Thailand are on my Tripadvisor account. Me and my other half's last time flying on PAL was Precovid Feb 2020. Not only they are The Philippines Flagship Carrier, they are the oldest airline in Asia. Although they can get you to major destinations across Asia and all ASEAN countries, they aren't in Alliance with other major airline carriers. Booking online was easy. Upon waking up that morning prior to departure, I noticed the flight was delayed by 1 1/2 hours. Which gave ample time to make our way to the airport to grab a bite and coffee before boarding the plane. Online check-in was successful, with 3 hours check-in time, it was sufficient. Having Global Entry membership allows you to expedite security via TSA Precheck only in Honolulu and other US Airports. I must say, that the ground staff from check-in to boarding were efficient and friendly. One piece of information I failed to pack was my Vaccination card or take a photo of both front and back of the card. My fault, I assumed restrictions were lowered and didn't do my proper research prior to the flight. The customer service agent just checked me in and I had the choice of heading back home to pick up my vax card, or chance myself when entering The Philippines without proof of vaccination. Thailand dropped all restrictions from our previous visit Fall of last year. As a foreign traveler entering The Philippines, you're required to complete your eTravel registration to declare proof of vaccination, similar to when entering Japan when proof of vaccination was required. When complete, the website will issue a QR Code prior to entering the country. Service onboard was excellent. Available onboard entertainment on each seat back screens. Being seated in Economy Class, I noticed both lunch and dinner meals includes silverware. For long-haul flights, I'm content. Between Honolulu and Manila, onboard amenities were a pillow & blanket, toothbrush, earphones, two complimentary meals including a mid flight snack, alcohol including red or white wine, beer and other nonalcoholic beverages. Between Manila and Bangkok, it was almost the same. No amenity's were provided on a A321 and each seat back had no inflight screen monitors. But there was a dinner served on the flight going to BKK. Lunch on the return, and free inflight entertainment on each seatback furnished by an A330-300 aircraft. PAL occupies Terminals 1&2 at Manila International Airport(NAIA). When transferring between terminals, it was a bit of organized chaos. What the customer service agent in Honolulu advised us that our checked luggages would automatically transfer between MNL & BKK. Both us and a Thai passenger didn't have faith that our bags would make it through to our final destination. We all had to double check over and over. There was an airport transfer that would shuttle passengers from T1 to T2 without leaving the airport premises. You're escorted by a ticket agent to bypass immigration and customs, and it's required you pass through another security screening as if you are entering an airport for the first time, very similar to making a transit at Incheon Airport. It's not an huge airport like Haneda Airport, but every single person onboard and in NAIA are English friendly, and the most helpful and friendliest airline personnel I've ever come across! Maybe in the future if booked in Business Class, I'd update my review for later.

She sent me her itinerary and I booked online (through CheapOair) the exact same trip that she did. We weren't able to sit next to each other because we checked in separately, but when we reached Manila, we changed our seats to sit together for the second leg of our trip. Service was very professional and friendly. Staff were polite and helpful. I asked for a can of Coke twice (instead of getting a cup) and they gave it to me - with a cup of ice - no problem! I was really happy with all of the free stuff! Besides 2 meals (choice of Western or Filipino) and a snack of ham and cheese sandwich, we got free headphones, movies (I watched (About Time), television shows (finally saw Fresh Off The Boat), music (I listened to Kenny Loggins), house slippers, and a pouch filled with eye mask, socks, and toothbrush/toothpaste. Wow! The air conditioning on the plane was great! I used my jacket and even put their thin blanket on my lap and used the pillow on my back. Overall, we had a great experience and I look forward to flying Philippine Airlines again!

After the initial cancellations, we were rebooked on United for the first leg to LAX -- and that ended up being an excellent flight. The service was smooth, professional, and truly exceeded expectations. The crew was attentive, the aircraft was comfortable, and the overall experience immediately relieved a lot of the stress from the earlier disruptions. From LAX, we switched back to Delta for the next leg to Honolulu. Delta went above and beyond to make the delay easier on us: * Overnight hotel accommodations provided * Food vouchers covered meals * Uber transportation to and from the airport was arranged Those extra steps made a huge difference and showed a real commitment to customer care. By the time we boarded the final leg of our journey, everything felt seamless again. What started as a frustrating travel day truly turned into a reminder of how great airline service can be when teams go the extra mile. Huge thanks to both United and Delta for making sure we were taken care of every step of the way. We finally arrived in Kona with our spirits high and gratitude even higher. Highly recommend -- top-notch service all around.

Much easier and don't have to walk or hunt for a restroom as much as before. In Terminal 1, it is nice that got more comfortable furniture to sit on after getting my coffee from the Starbucks. I really do wish there was a better indicator which security checkpoints are open. Especially in the early hours at Terminal 2. Walk one direction, only to find that it is closed, so sometimes have to backtrack to find one that is open. I totally get that at some hours, it may not make sense to staff all the checkpoints if the demand is lower, but it sure would be nice to look at something and it tells me which one I should go to. For the signs on the ground floor that directs people to the ride share and other places, it references the baggage claim numbers. It might be easier if the signs point people the column numbers, as those are highly visible and don't have to hunt for the baggage claim number signs from the street/curb area.

My biggest issue with the hotel is that it's showing its age. The rooms and facilities feel outdated, and I don't think the current room rates reflect the condition of the property. Also, if you're looking to save on parking, park by the pier instead. It's much more affordable than paying the hotel's $65 per day parking fee.

You can tell by the manager's responses to all of the negative reviews here that there is no desire to make any negative experiences right for the customer. There is an apology that it didn't live up to standard and an "I hope you give us a try next time". Let that be the baseline for the customer service you'll receive if you choose to stay at this hotel. We arrived in late July with our friend and two young kids. We get to our "ocean view" at the Rainbow Tower which we paid extra for only to find a gigantic tree blocking the view we believed we paid for. We called to the front desk and Annie very rudely dismissed us before telling us to come downstairs to prove that our view wasn't as the pictures showed when we booked it. She told us to head down to the Mail Drop line and when we got there we're told we were at the wrong place. We then argued with a manager (can't remember her name anymore) for I'd say a good hour. First, we were actually told the manager bounces between towers and wasn't at the Rainbow Tower which ended up being untrue as we saw her in the back when we came down and she ended up being the one to talk to us. We asked to be moved to a different room and we were told this very partial ocean view we got with the room we paid for titled "ocean view" was exactly what we paid for because if we wanted an ocean view we had to book "ocean front". Yet, if you book an ocean view room on their website or through Expedia, the view they advertise is a full ocean view. We definitely felt gaslit and like we were crazy for asking to be moved to a room we paid for. They finally agreed to move us to a "lagoon view" saying they didn't have any ocean front rooms because they're so busy that they're full 365 days of the year. (Meaning they don't really need our business, I'm guessing.) We were not happy with the lagoon view because we paid for an ocean view, but we ultimately had no choice but to concede and they said they would reimburse our resort fees. What's sad is that the employee knew how to work the system more than the manager. Also, another man came down with the same complaints as us, but no employees acknowledged him so he waved his hand, and stormed off. It's been over a month since this happened, and my friend who booked separately from us (who had the same issue) has yet to receive her reimbursement. They said they mailed the check and she never received it. She's been calling them and has received no reply. The elevator situation at the Rainbow Tower is also horrible. Supposedly, they're working out the kinks, but be prepared for long waits and very crowded elevators when you want to go anywhere. Another tip if you choose to stay here. Do NOT bother paying for the cabana at the Tapa pool. We did and no one walks you to the cabana. They tell you to open it up and set it up yourself after they hand you a few waters at the towel stand. There's no food or drink service, and you have to go to the bar next to it to get your food or drinks. It's also very isolated from anything fun. We booked 2 Casabellas at the Super Pool the next day. They were cheaper and MUCH better. They had food and drink service and the server was awesome and the towel desk takes you to them and opens them up for you. Cabanas are a bust and a total waste of money. Overall, the customer service at this hotel is awful and I can only assume it's because they don't need our business since they're full 365 days a year... as they informed us. The nice thing about the hotel is that it has shops and restaurants attached, but it's extremely crowded. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Hawaiian Airlines is the worst airline organization I have ever seen in my entire life. I will…read morestand by that statement until the day I die. I have traveled across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. I have flown to more countries than I can count. I've gone through airports with insecure systems, airports where absolutely zero English was spoken, and somehow still managed to check my bags and get my items where they needed to go. This is not a personal opinion. This is a fact based on experience. Hawaiian Airlines is the most disorganized airline I have ever seen in my life, and honestly, I could see them going out of business. As you can see from the pictures, there is absolutely nobody assisting customers. I don't know if they are short-staffed because they refuse to hire people or refuse to pay decent wages, but nobody is there to help because the employees themselves appear overwhelmed with responsibility. Secondly, you have to wait in a completely separate line just to get your bags tagged. If the system fails and doesn't allow you to check in properly, you have to restart the entire process from the beginning. Then, after finally tagging your bags, there is another completely separate line just to drop the bags off. If something goes wrong again, you are sent all the way back to the beginning. It makes absolutely no sense. You know the system where you get your bag tag and boarding pass, then drop your bags? The system used by 99.9% of airlines? I assume Hawaiian Airlines leadership said, "I have an idea. I'm going to make this whole system complicated and confusing for my customers." There are multiple breakdowns in this entire process. You have five employees running back and forth trying to help move bags, but only one main line that splits into two checkpoints for customers trying to check in. Instead of having workers properly stationed at counters assisting customers with bag weighing and bag drop, they have thousands of kiosks with nobody available to help anyone use them. Customers are left standing around trying to figure out broken computer systems that do not scan properly, do not recognize confirmation codes, and constantly fail during check-in. It is a complete mess. I will say this: the flight attendants were very nice, the plane itself was wonderful, and the staff assisting once I finally made it to the front were helpful. But the entire experience beforehand was unnecessarily complicated for absolutely no reason. There are actual classes and professional systems dedicated to organization and customer flow, and Hawaiian Airlines would greatly benefit from them because they are completely failing in this aspect. Lastly, Hawaiian Airlines needs to get its shit together.

There is quite a distance from the gates to baggage check. With the storm being fully active when we landed (late due to delay) with part of the airport passage ways being open air, there was flooding in certain areas between the gates and baggage claim. Our baggage came down rather quickly and we were greeted with Leis & a shuttle to our hotel. Though some of the areas were wet and flooded, this airport is really well run. Even upon our return to head back to the mainland, TSA lines were not outrageous and fairly quick to get through security. One thing we did notice when flying out of this airport was that all carry on baggage must go through an additional xray machine right before boarding, this is an agriculture check - which takes boarding the plane take slightly longer than other airports. Even with the added step getting through the airport was a breeze.
