Ordered Japan Inn through UberEats to my work a little while ago and took advantage of their BOGO deal on several sushi rolls, which I definitely appreciated. I tried the shrimp tempura roll, JB roll, and of course a California roll. Everything was made correctly with no mistakes. The sushi was average, and the gyoza and fried rice were also average. Had a much better experience after the manager, Fernando, called me to invite me back. While I'm glad I gave them another chance, and had a great experience, I will still avoid the days that Andy is working, I'd suggest avoiding him. But definitely ask for Noi. She's wonderful! She's polite, accommodating, professional. Fernando was extremely kind and professional and also made sure our experience went well. As for a chef, I'd recommend Jose. We had been to Japan Inn for sushi many years ago. And it was really good. Today we went for the hibachi lunch with a gift certificate from a friend. The strip mall is being renovated, so it is a bit of a mess. Nevertheless, the restaurant is easy to find in the Denny's plaza at the SW corner of University Drive and Sunrise Boulevard. There is ample parking in the lot. We were seated at a hibachi table with another couple who had a young child. Not sure if their order made ours take so long (no eggs, no lemon juice, no veggies---really? Why are you at a hibachi?), but we got our plate of food exactly one hour after being seated. We started with the mushroom soup, which was delicious and had tempura crunchies in it. Hubby had steak and scallops. I had filet mignon and scallops. My steak was definitely more tender. The chef was nice but I felt sorry for him as he tried to honor the other couple's many requests and my one ask ("cook the veggies well done please"). The food was tasty and plentiful. But we didn't have any leftovers because we were very hungry. Our server Noi was very helpful and personable. She answered a lot of my questions about the difference between the lunch and dinner meals and when I wanted to know what the crunchy stuff was in the soup (tempura). With tax and tip our lunch for two was about $53. read more

So I came here for lunch and it was actually an amazing experience. The besides the amazing food, their drink menu is top notch. I really enjoyed their sushi and fried wontons. Anthony was my server and he did an amazing job during lunch when I dined with family. The hibachi experience was so wonderful and funny. Really big space for a great party or dinner with others. Amazing art work on the walls as well and when I went for lunch it was not so busy so I got to enjoy the experience fully and comfortably. read more

We sat down & while talking, a small cockroach crawls out from under the hibachi to the top. We immediately had them move us to another table, but I was leery all night! Then, the table they placed us at was near their kitchen, so every time they came out with food, I had to lean forward; that's how close it was. I had the teriyaki salmon, with fried rice, & mushrooms. The salmon was dry. The food was just ok, nothing spectacular. Overall we had a great experience here for my stepdaughter's 16th birthday. The food is delicious. The show was great, the chef was funny and energetic. The noise level overall is very loud so it is a difficult place to converse but it's great for the food and show. We got a ton of food and we have lots of fried rice to eat for leftovers! In town visiting and decided to give Japan Inn a try. We were sat immediately but was busy for a weekday night. Our server was Nathan and he was great. Very attentive and nice. The restaurant seems a little older and dark, but usual for a hibachi restaurant. We ordered the Miami Hurricane Roll along with the chicken teriyaki and steak and shrimp combo. Meal came with soup, salad and veggies and fried rice. Overall, the food was great. The sushi was good. Not a fan of the teriyaki though. It wasn't the sweet type and more of a marinade taste. Next time I would just get the hibachi chicken instead. The steak was great and seasoned well. read more

Food was ok. I was not happy about the service. We asked for a regular table. I felt like they were bothered to service us if it wasn't a hibachi order/table. We waited 25 mins for a server to come get our drink order. I was ready to get up and leave since I was really hungry and 9 months pregnant. The restaurant wasn't hot as everyone had mention but that's probably because only one hibachi grill was in use. Once we ordered the drinks, it took the server another 15/20 mins to take our food order. I'd understand if the place was packed but it wasn't. Two other servers walked by as well - more people walked in for hibachi and they had their drinks/ food orders in before us. I guess it's great for hibachi but they're not a huge fan when it's just a regular table.. Spent 2hrs here - majority of it was just waiting. Had to flag our server down to get the check. Honestly could've just walked out but we didn't. Not a fan, wouldn't take anyone here. read more

This has been our favorite Hibatchi spot for years..it never ceases to exceed expectations! Food is amazing..I love the scallops personally but tried mostly everything and it's always perfectly cooked. My husband decided to take the girls and I for lunch on Valentine's Day and was surprised with a rose after walking in. We were a group of four out for a Saturday lunch. We started with a steamed dumping appetizer. For our main, we ordered several hibachi dishes: chicken, scallops, beef, and a Chicken Katus plate. It was an early Saturday evening and my husband and I went to Japan Inn for a date night. We were seated at a hibachi table, closest to the far back left side of the restaurant. As soon as we sat down, we could feel the heat (not from the hibachi table, but from there being an issue with the AC). As I'm far along in my pregnancy, I get hot pretty easily. My husband could tell I was uncomfortable and suggested we leave. But as we both love Japan Inn, I spoke to the hostess about the heat. They brought over a large floor fan, which made it somewhat better. We probably waited a good 20 minutes before our soup and salad was served. It wasn't because the service was slow, it was because they were trying to fill up the hibachi table with more customers, so we were waiting on more customers. We weren't even the first ones seated at the hibachi table, so I could only imagine how annoyed the couple was, who was seated before us. I could also only imagine how annoyed the new customers were, who were rushed to look at the menu and place their order. Like always, the food was delicious. We both ordered the hibachi chicken and steak dinner combination, which came with a soup and a salad, a few pieces of shrimp, and fried rice. They used to serve noodles along with the dinner, but they took the noodles away without replacing it. They also raised their prices, without giving anything in addition to it. The weather was terrible outside. It was raining so hard that the rain was leaking through the ceiling and onto our table. If we were still eating, I would of brought it to their attention and requested we be compensated for it. But we were finished eating and were waiting on our check. Japan Inn has undergone new owners and new management. But they haven't made any changes to their outdated restaurant. The is a laundry list of things they should/could do to make their restaurant nicer. The AC needs to be repaired, the ceiling needs to be repaired, they need to get rid of their floor fans, the carpet is old and dingy, the curtains to get to the to the restroom are outdated, etc. I'd honestly be surprised if they were never on Dirty Dining, as the most recent issue with the AC not working and the rain coming through the ceiling, should of made the restaurant close down. It's a real shame as we've been loyal customers to Japan Inn for 20 plus years. read more

We went here for my sister's birthday since she had never in her life experienced a Hibachi restaurant. I started with a lychee martini which was good. Next came the traditional ginger salad and miso soup, and I ordered the Hibachi Steak. The food was good but we were all pretty disappointed with the chef. There was no enthusiasm on his end and there really wasn't much of a show. They usually do cute things like throwing shrimp and an onion volcano but this guy basically cooked our food and was out of sight. I have been many times for this type of dinner at Japan Inn and other Hibachi restaurants and this was by far my worst experience. This was my first time at the Plantation location because I normally go to the one closer to Weston. I gave 3 stars because the food was decent, but overall the service was not. read more
