Sludge, muck, and dust were everywhere. And what I at first thought was a giant cob web was actually the home of 2x LIVING spiders. *Note = spiders only live where there's food for them to survive. In this case there were tiny flies. Wonder where else the flies are. Service: Friendly and direct. Business oriented, not customer-experience oriented. Food: I ordered the chicken hibachi. 95% of the order was rice with about 4-5 oz of chicken plus veggies. Rice = flavorless, pointless filler Carrots = unseasoned boiled carrots Cabbage + broccoli = salty, unappetizing, thoughtless, gross. Chicken = weird chewy texture like it was bad meat that had been de-thawed improperly. Flavors of only sear and teriyaki sauce. Pink sauce = weird, sour, onion-based, and gross Teriyaki sauce = pleasant at first with a horrible aftertaste. Maybe it's old? I literally took a bite of each thing to make this description then threw the entire meal away. It was that unpleasant. I will never be back. Glad I didn't waste any more money here. read more

My favorite place in the world. Double chicken mesi with 3 teriyaki sauces and a California will get you so full and is so delicious. Best bang for your buck. Very nice workers as well. Not the greatest inside but hey, 95 percent of their orders are to go give them a break and eat at home. If you want to eat Japanese inside go to a full fledged restaurant. read more

As a vegan traveling through Daphne AL, I was not expecting much, but the staff member who took my call-in order was surprisingly accommodating and kind in modifying my order to be vegan (e.g substituting fried rice which contains egg and butter for white rice). I ordered the tofu and veggie hibachi (about $17), and despite the excellent service, I was sadly very disappointed in the taste of the food. Not worth the price. The "veggies" were predominantly cabbage with a couple broccoli florets. The side salad was also a let down, mainly consisting of lettuce leaves, a few thin fibers of carrot, and two slices of cucumber (dressing is not vegan). Only two positive notes were the rice and the tofu which were good with the teriyaki sauce. read more

I am on a bad streak with restaurants lately. Bottom line: Service was good. The food was in no way pretty-displayed on plates, which irritates me. Our food appeared to be slopped onto the plates - not appealing. The good news is the food was awful. So the display lived up to the taste. I am not a general fan of rice and this visit reinforced my view. The meat was extremely tough - veggies wilty. Also a peeve is a chef that uses a heavy hand on salt. I travel quite a bit with my work and that affords me a great opportunity to try new places. I do my best to avoid chain restaurants. When I choose a restaurant I usually only have two criteria; it has to be clean and the food has to be good. Well the good news is this place was clean. The bad news is It is, by far, the worse meal and without a doubt the absolute worse sushi, I've ever eaten. Without sounding too cynical how hard is it to make sushi? Fresh fish, steamed rice and seaweed paper. Yet as simple as it seems, the restaurant screwed it up. Either the rice was undercooked (not sure how you do that) or it was stale. The rice was crunchy. One of my rolls had a simple tempura topping, and somehow, the tempura was stale. The normal spicy mayo or whatever they call their shrimp sauce, had an odd taste to it. The entire meal left such a bad taste in my mouth I had to stop at a gas station and get a granola bar. There are ample sushi places in this area so there's no excuse to eat here. read more

So the hibachi is not your typical hibachi. It's basically steamed vegetables and meat with some rice. There is NO seasoning at all. Was a large portion. Won't be getting again read more

We stop here often for the Titanic roll. The habachi is good also. It's nothing fancy but the staff are great and so friendly. My kids love the cold Japanese sodas! They are also expanding the menu to include more sushi rolls. read more

I got the chicken mesi because that's what was recommended to me but, I wasn't impressed. It was dry and the steak wasn't good either. It had a weird smell to it. I don't see myself going again. read more

The WORST hibachi and sushi ever! Period. I stopped to grab dinner on the way home at this place - first time and LAST! No flavor whatsoever to the steak & shrimp hibachi dish and I have NO idea what sort of spicy mayo they called themselves preparing. It was little more than salty mayo to me and just gross. I would not recommend this place -- to anyone. Really disappointed and frankly, haven't found any place in this area that has decent Japanese takeout. read more

I come here all the time and it's one of my favorite places to eat in Daphne. They always have great food and great service and it's super consistent. It's nice to know what you're getting when you walk into a restaurant and to never be disappointed or let down. And their sauces are the best around read more

Mediocre at best, order to-go from Daruma Japanese Steak House, you'll spend about the same but better quality and flavor.

Clean & friendly. Sushi & hibachi are both excellent! We have never been disappointed. Miso soup & salad are great as well.

I like the food here...I like that I can get sushi freshly rolled...better than you can get locally at Publix or Winn Dixie. I also like the fried rice. I have eaten here twice in the last week. So you could say I am a fan and I will return again. Friendly and fast staff...no complaints! read more

Service was fast and friendly. When we arrived the whole place was empty, but we decided to still give the place a try. The Hibachi was pretty decent. I only wish the rice had some stuff in it, like veggies or more seasoning. The meat in the food we ordered was decent and fresh tasting. We will try there again. read more

Not a fancy place, but great customer service. The two rolls we got could have been bigger, but overall the food was good.

I had several items for take out. One of them was fried rice with beef. Never ever have I ever had such flavorless rice. Had I lived closer I would have driven back. I mean white rice had more flavor. No peas, no eggs no nothing. Buyer beware. Just noticed James P. review was a carbon copy of mine. Sam's Club chicken fried rice is 1,000 time better. great sushi, teriyaki and dumplings! It's not a fancy place, but the food is solid, and the service is good. It's a counter service place that also serves some Japanese drinks like melon soda. My 8 year old loves it here, so we come often. The portions are big and one meal can feed two people. Get the dumplings...yummy. Sometime, if the cooks catch you watching them, they will toss the knives around and put on a bit of a show for the youngsters. Be sure to leave them a tip! read more

I ate there for the first time this afternoon. Overall, it was fantastic! The price was much less than typical hibachi food. I ordered the Chicken and Steak hibachi dinner. The meat was superb! The vegetables worked very well with the orange sauce they give you. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the rice. I was expecting the typical rice that's served with Hibachi food, but it appeared as though there wasn't any egg in it. It also seemed to be a different kind of rice. Don't get me wrong, it was still very good, but I wish they served the tradition hibachi style rice. Oh! The salad!!!! Fresh lettuce and flavorful ginger dressing. I will be going there many more times in the future. Staff were funny and welcoming. Excellent atmosphere. Recommend for everyone to try. read more
