Great show and flare from our chef. Food was great and top notch. I was visually amused with the chefs tricks and wit while he was cooking for us. Don't know his name but he was wearing a headband from the Hidden Leaf Village. And judging by his cooking jutsu, he must've been a Jonin. Believe it! I got the Shogun special with the A5 Wagyu beef and it was well worth the price I paid. Includes egg flower soup, vegetables, rice and lobster. My girlfriend got the steak and shrimp which was also just as tasty and well seasoned but not overpowering. We also had drinks and a couple appetizers. Price you could not beat for what you get. And skilled chefs that can make the night a delight. I wish we had these pricing for teppanyaki back home. Overall love the freshness of the food and amazing flare from the chef. Staff were also attentive and friendly

Wagyu steak with the special Wagyu fried rice; this meat is so rich it melts in your mouth like butter!

Hubby and I went here for the first time for my birthday dinner! Our chef was delightful and entertaining and all of the food was delicious. Because it was a special occasion and a treat, I got the Wagyu steak and lobster tail and it was such a treat! The meat was so tender and rich, and pairing it with the fresh wasabi was so delightful! I would recommend this place for any special occasion, it's definitely not a cheap night out (especially if you treat it like a treat lol) but definitely a fun and delicious experience

This was my first time ever at a restaurant where everything is cooked right in front you! I'll admit I was a little hesitant when I first saw the prices, but after seeing how much food was included, and how great the quality was, the price was worth it. Our chef was very interactive and cooked everything that we ordered perfectly. All of the food was so flavourful and it was a very neat experience to be front and centre while it was being prepared! I definitely recommend coming here with a small or medium sized group, and just know that because everything is cooked at the table, the temperature of the restaurant is quite warm!

Japanese Village has just opened at WEM! Japanese Village isn't your typical sit down Japanese restaurant. Here your meal is cooked right in front of you on a Teppan grill. As your food is being cooked, the "grill master" also puts on quite a show with flipping the spatulas and other utensils as well as a little bit of comedy. I ordered the tempura to start which consisted of 3 vegetables, and 3 shrimp. The tempura arrived at barely room temp and a little soggy which was super disappointing because I LOVE tempura. For my entree I ordered Chicken Teriyaki, which is served with rice, vegetables, and egg drop soup. The meal is prepared in a way that you have to eat I it as each component is made to enjoy it while it's hot. Vegetables first, then your protein later. I personally prefer to have a little bit of everything as I eat, so I didn't enjoy this much. The seasonings and sauces were watered down, unlike your traditional Teriyaki sauce. In all Japanese Village was a bit of a let down for me, but if you want a show during your meal then this is the place for you.

We came here for my wife's 40th birthday. We had a reservation so we got right in, so waiting was no issue. Once we were seated there was a bit of a wait to get our drink order taken. They were out of hot saké so we had to order a more expensive bottle of chilled saké instead. Our chef was very friendly and polite. He double checked our orders before cooking them and told us what 'Japanese' ingredients we were going to have. (Everything is 'Japanese' here. Lol). We really enjoyed the theater of watching our chef cook, as you don't get to see your food cooked on a flattop 18" away from your face every day. The food was excellent. I had told the hostess that it was my wife's birthday and they brought her a treat and sang her a song while using a drum. Overall I was very satisfied with my first trip to Japanese Village. It is an expensive treat, but a 40th birthday is a good reason to go.

I'm giving this place 3 out of 5 because the staff was friendly and the atmosphere looked great. In fairness my meal was to go, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I ordered a crispy roll and on the description it stated the roll contained fresh salmon and tuna. Take a look at the picture of my roll and tell me what she section of sushi hell this thing came from. Might have been able to mask the fact that it was only deep fried rice in the roll if it had soy sauce. But they didn't pack that either. Thumbs down.

We had the duck with risotto, truffle fries, pan seared salmon, and the homemade mac & cheese with chicken breast. All were excellent. Our server recommended a couples drink combo which consisted of the following: For him - Maple Old Fashioned: Bearface Triple Oak Canadian whisky, maple syrup, and Angostura bitters. For her - A savory-sweet mix of Ojo de Tigre Mezcal, passion fruit liqueur, blood orange syrup, lime juice, and a black salt rim. It was awesome. The hotel had an amazing gym facility and pool. I easily spent two hours in the gym as there was a variety of activities. Also, the decor was absolutely divine. And the service just seemed disorganized with how long the dishes took, how everyone didn't get served the correct dishes, and the servers were fumbling to rearrange themselves.

We got seated at our table and then we waited...and waited...and waited... So the manager came by and asked us if we need anything and I replied, "Yeah a server." Apparently there was a mix up with communication and whose table was whose. It is gorgeous inside. Very sexy. Plush benches, silver tones, and blue lights. This would be a great place to be seen after a hockey game or something. Finally with our fixed menu in hand and some water. The manager asked us if we would like the wine paring for no extra charge. What a fabulous gift! We started out with the black truffle and brie aranchini. This is super rich and flavourful. Great texture on the outside and creamy goodness on the inside. My husband and I got one of each of the salads - Wedge and Ceasar. The portions were massive, so I am glad I got the wedge. I could pack it up and it was fresh and crisp the next day. Dressings on both of them were excellent I got the black sesame ahi tuna and my husband got the petite filet. Both were excellent but if I wanted to finish dessert I would have to get this packed for home. Finaly onto dessert my husband got the chocolate peanut butter bar, while I went with the strawberry pavlova. Both were fine, but the peanut butter bar was super rich. The wine pairings were excellent. Great place, even better when you have a super deal.

It was a bit too much for me, but we can't all like the same things. I think the staff might have recommended we not order two mashed potatoes, but otherwise service was sufficient and relatively attentive. Attention was given to my gf dietary needs, but no attempt at a gluten free bread was made, as has been done a similar high end establishments. Our waitress nearly gave our meal to another table, but fortunately was intercepted by another server. We arrived at 5:30 and got our meals at about 7:00. The ambiance was reminiscent of a high end pizza place- large marble topped tables to shout across. My lamb was a bit under done, but that was okay since I had allowed for that. I've had better lamb in my own home, but I admit I'm not a fan of char as the main flavour. It was very attractively plated and I liked most of the vegetables that shared the plate, excepting perhaps, one or two pieces of bitter greens. My two companions enjoyed their meals, both having ordered filet. The three of us wound up spending about $300.00, tip included.

I like this type of menu where there was enough to choose from, but not to little to feel like you don't have a choice but not too much that it is hard to choose from all the selections. We split a bunch of menu items - steelhead crudo with Thai basil, citrus, chili, olive oil, apple bison tartare with tamari ginger vinaigrette, sesame, dashi cracker beets with goat cheese custard, pears, pistachio, tarragon vinaigrette tagliatelle, lamb sausage, smoked tomato, rapini polenta the posset and the chocolate dessert We also enjoyed a bottle of Merlot Food was excellent. The stand outs were the steelhead crudo and the beet salad. The steelhead crudo was beautiful and shining like jewels on the plate. And the beet salad was the same.
