My wife and I arrived at this place round 6 on a friday evening, looked crowded but we only waited 15 mins while we waited wife had a reg. Frozen margarita and we had chips and salsa, which were very good and wife said margarite was strong but good. I ordered the Mole Pablano and wife had a beef fajita taco. The chicken that came w mole was very tender, wasn't shredded like many other places when u order mole. And the mole sauce was probably the best I've ever had, even better than when my mom used to make when I was little. My wife said her beef fajita taco was very good, tender w big pieces and grilled onions were cooked perfectly. When my wife ordered a second margarita, waitress suggested a mango strawberry margarita which I tried and was very good and strong We will definately coming back here soon! read more

I have always brought my family here I've always liked to come here. The first time I had a problem was one year ago when I got served a Mexican Martini and there was a cockroach in it and I did not come back from whole year . So one year later I stared to come back This was my second incident here. I just got done finishing off a Mexican Martini that my old friend that is a waiter told me everything will be okay. I was okay with the Mexican Martini and for the Second drink I had a regular margarita. I drink the margarita and at the end i found a piece of glass in my mouth well I was curious I stuck my finger in the bottom of the Drink and found a whole bunch of shards of glass. I was curious and did the same to my fiancé's glass and sure enough there was shards of glass in the bottom of her drink to. I talked to the manager and he told me I didn't have to pay for my meal. Found out later that they gave me a $35 gift card I paid $100 for that meal I will not ever go back there again!!! I am pissed I want this place shut down!!! read more

After just writing a review about a so-so Tex-Mex place in Boston, I started craving real Tex-Mex. Of course, rather than actually eating it, I thought I'd write a review about my past coma inducing experiences with Jardin Corona. I always get the same thing every single time: Jardin Chimichanga, a Chicken Quesadilla and queso. Tex-Mex heaven. As if the gooey cheese that oozes out of the deep fried Chimichanga wasn't enough to get you going, it's served with a size of delicious queso. Now we're talking! Queso, upon deep fried goodness, upon cheese = food coma. Oh, but wait, that's not all. Why not chase it down with some more chips and queso? I'm pretty sure it's illegal to get Tex-Mex without getting chips and queso. At least a finger wag. While I'm slouched on my couch enjoying the fatty goodness that is working its way down my digestive system, I can't help but to start picking at my wife's quesadilla (I eat fast). Nothing wrong with a perfect combo of a crispy quesadilla, sour cream, and guacamole to go with that deep fried Chimichanga. Oh man, writing this review has gotten me ravenous. The food here is awesome, although I haven't been to the restaurant to eat. But if the delivery is as good as it is on arrival, I'm sure it's more so eating in. Can't wait to try the margaritas I'm always hearing about too. The combo plates I've had (enchiladas, tacos, tamales) are good, but may use a bit too much queso on each item. I like queso just as much as the next guy, but to have it on nearly every item on the plate could be a bit much. And it's a lot of food, so be ready for leftovers! read more

I love this place! I've been there probably a dozen times or more now, and been pretty darn happy each time. I love their breakfast stuff. Their migas is good. They have a monstrous breakfast burrito thing for $2.79 that is great for meat eaters -- Supreme Breakfast Taco. It's huge for breakfast!!! Good aguas frescas, too. The chimichanga was good, but not great, because I ordered it cheese, no meat, and that's ALL there was in it. It was a bit overwhelmingly cheesy, and I love cheese. But, that's vegetarian food at a taqueria... The Spinach enchiladas were better than the shrimp enchiladas. My complaint there again, was that there was nothing in the enchiladas but shrimp. Personally, a bit of cheese, maybe some onions, bell peppers, or something would have been sooo much better. Hmm...I know I've had the mushroom and cheese chili Relleno as well, but I don't remember anything about it, so it couldn't have been too bad or too great. Oh! Happy hour! Check them out for happy hour deals! Margaritas, beer, yumminess.... The service here is funny. I've had really, really good, really attentive service, and I've had really slow, forgot-about-us service. But that's a taqueria for you, I guess. meh. It's all about the breakfast tacos here, we got here too late for them one day and had lunch instead and it was very average, but the tacos, oh the tacos. It's off the beaten path for sure, I'd have never known about it if not for a friend, and as mentioned in other reviews it's in a very unassuming (read craptacular) strip mall. But they have a whole page of delicious breakfast tacos waiting for you, they're cheap, and they serve them until noon (a small victory for the late night drinkers). I always get the migas taco, the carne guisada is also good, but the machacado and egg taco is the killer choice on the breakfast menu, that taco gets five stars on it's own. Their salsa is pretty good too! The wife and I get out of here full and happy for less than $15, we went every weekend for I think 6 weeks straight at the end of 2009, so yeah, we're fans. read more

This is a very popular "neighborhood" restaurant, and for good reason. It has everything you want in a good Mexican place -- good food, good service, nice strong drinks, excellent chips and salsa, reasonable prices, and just the right level of tackiness. The atmosphere inside is lively and friendly, an enjoyable place to hang out. They serve the tex-mex basics, but also offer a number of dishes you don't usually see. We really like the steak gratinata. For a year we lived just one mile away and ended up going there probably 2-3 times every week. Yes, we gained weight. Since moving downtown we've tried to find another place in this area that lives up to Jardin's, but we've yet to find it. We still drive up there from time to time just because we miss it so much. One star off for constantly packed parking lot. But, like I said, it's a popular place. read more

Yes! I seem to have found my local Mexican place. The queso here is outstanding. Out of the places I've been to in this area, this one definitely has the best. Their frozen margaritas are good. The pechuga vallena is awesome, as are the typical fare: quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, etc. I usually get chicken as my meat of choice in everything and it's always moist and tender. I've gotten steak before for the fajitas and those were awesome. The service is good too, about what you'd expect in a Mexican restaurant. There's no hovering, but when you need a refill on your drink or chips, it's easy to find your waiter. read more

Highly unimpressed with this place. Ordered through UE and the restaurant gyped me of my 2 Mexican cokes. Now I'm having to deal with UE customer service which is a pain in my ass. The fajita meat was so peppery I coughed the whole time trying to choke down the fajitas. Also don't appreciate that the fajita meat was medium rare and still bleeding in the middle. I actually had to cook it a few minutes more, also to reheat it because it was cold when it arrived. They hardly came with anything but rice, which tastes like dried out garbage. The tortillas are all burnt on one side and taste charred. The salsa is bland, no flavor or heat. Charro beans are nothing to write home about. Since doing the my fit foods detox, I've decided to bump Jardin Corona down a notch. I still like the place but sometimes I don't feel so great after eating there. I honestly think the detox made me a lot more sensitive to the quality of food I eat. Anyway... Their Queso is still great in my book but I have to admit Maudies is better. We came here one night to venture on new local Tex-Mex restaurant and what a treat. It was very busy on a Tuesday night in the restaurant. The best things about this place are the portion and service. We ordered a chorizo queso and a cup of chicken soup, they turned out to be like main course!! I was too full by the time the main entree came. Our server was friendly and good. I wouldn't say the food was exceptionally impressively good but it has pretty much whatever you want if you are looking for Tex-Mex food. I was quite surprised we found Jardin Corona in a strip mall. I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting to enjoy a margarita on the sidewalk of a strip mall joint. It wasn't too bad though. The weather was sunny and breezy, so we were just happy enjoying the weather. We were there for the michelada, but had to move on to the margarita since the michelada was nothing special. Well, we had the margarita and had to move onto an appetizer. Neither drink was good enough to write home about. The michelada was similar to any mediocre michelada, and the margarita was just a super sweet pre-made mix with tequila. Our waitress told us it was fresh, however, I think we had a problem in translation. There were NO fresh limes in that margarita.Oh well. If you are looking for a fresh, limey margarita, this is not the place to go. I'm glad we tried the queso. The white stringy cheese, with bacon, poblano peppers and onions saved this place from my "never go again" list. The queso had a great flavor. I don't know what the rest of the menu is like, but as long as you aren't going to Jardin Corona for some yummy drinks, you may be fine. read more

Jardin Corona has never let me down. They're great for any time of day. It also helps that they're right down the street from my apartment! :) I've never had their breakfast, but I hear it's really good. Their lunch specials are cheap (~$6), and the portion size is ridiculous! I always have trouble finishing my food (but I usually do anyway!). Dinner never disappoints. It's only a little more expensive than lunch, too. And you can kick back with a kick-ass margarita or beer! The tacos, fajitas, flautas, queso, rice, and beans are all delicious. Their chips and salsa are some of the best in the area, too! The service is great, and the place is always packed. That's a great sign for a Tex-Mex restaurant. I recommend going for late lunch or early dinner...just to beat the rush. :) read more

The food at Jardin Corona is nothing special but it is cheap and portions are large with unlimited chips and salsa so you can't complain too much. The environment inside is very casual with a seat yourself style. Service is OK although not the best. Jardin Corona is super meh. The only other times I've eaten here I've been drunk. Rewind to a couple weeks ago, clean & sobez, and having just finished playing a bit of pool next door with my chums, I exclaim that I want Mexican style food. And... there's a place next door (totally not planned)! The good things: massive plates for cheap prices. big variety and big sizes of alcoholic beverages. salsa was decent. The bad things: ok yeah you get a lot of food for a cheap price, but the food straight up sucks. Just DON'T get anything with beef in it, unless you're into soggy, bland mash. I assure you, any cheese you get is going to be similar to that nasty Tostito's brand nacho-cheez they have in the H.E.B. chip aisle. I tried some of my friends' food too (cos they didn't want to finish), and it was all just gross. The chips were dripping grease which is kind of disgusting to look at, and feel. The service wasn't good (my buddy had to ask for green sauce thrice). I implore you to think about going somewhere else. read more

Pretty typical tex-mex restaurant but I wanted to venture to a new place to see if it faired better than other places in the area. I decided to try the barbacoa and eggs plate. Barbacoa for breakfast is a staple in northern Mexican cuisine so I was happy they had it as an option. I will say this, the barbacoa was EXCELLENT. The thing with barbacoa is that it can be really hit or miss. Sometimes it can be really fat and greasy (which my mom always said just meant they're either being lazy or cheap, but you can't be both). Jardin did an excellent job at making sure it was just right and had a great flavor. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars was because I ordered my eggs over easy and one of the eggs was undercooked and it just really through me off. My husband had the Jardin migas and they were delish, so I'm willing to try this place again and update my review accordingly. The parking lot of the strip mall was pretty packed, so it was difficult to find a parking spot. Once inside, we settled down with a few beers while we waited to get seated. The beer was cold, and the limes for my Corona were freshly cut, rather than the dried out limes you get at other places. Their menu is packed! I went with the El Super Tucan, and it was damn tasty! I was really needing a Tex-Mex fix and this place really hit the spot. Some reviewers call their food 'standard.' I'd say that's just about right. To be honest, that's what I want when I'm craving Tex-Mex. I'm a bit tired of some 'chef' doctoring up a traditional recipe with who knows what and then charging me $10-15 for it. I just want some good ol' Tex-Mex and to go home feeling way too full. :) Jardin Corona fills that need. Showed up about 6:30pm (Saturday) and had a 5-10 minute wait; one of the NFL playoff games was on and the place was just starting to get crowded. The bar is tiny -- I'd say about four (4) stools in an odd corner of the waiting area type of spot. It's just not meant to have or be a bar -- simply limited by their strip mall location floorplan. The bigger 16oz margarita, however, was quite tasty for a basic (no frills) drink. Oh, and it was $6.75. That's a good price considering that the entry level marg in most restaurants is 10oz and a good $5 or more. Our waiter was friendly and keeping busy with everyone around. He made plenty of trips by our table and we had an enjoyable experience. Normal (not hot) salsa and chips were refilled even before it was needed. I ended up getting the Enchiladas Trio (chicken, beef, & cheese) with spanish rice and refried beans. I wanted queso with the chips but my brother wasn't interested. Lucky for me, this meal has queso covering the enchiladas. The entree was $6.99. Seriously, every other Tex-Mex place is charging $1-3 more! I don't want to call this place cheap ... so let's say that they're very economical. I found pretty much all of their entree pricing to be below average -- something you just don't see too often. Keeping lower pricing on good food will keep customers loyal and returning more often. read more

We were finally in the area to try this place, and wow we are so glad we did! This place has been on my list of places to try for awhile because of their intriguing reviews! First thing to note, parking! Parking here is very limited during popular times as it seems that the other businesses also draw decent crowds. It took us 5 minutes of waiting for a spot to finally get parked. However, it was definitely worth the wait. Once we got in we were quickly seated on the patio. While it doesn't have any fans, there was a nice breeze and it felt nice to be able to sit outside. The food here was amazing. They have so many great, and unique, menu options that I will definitely be back to try more! I ordered the Shrimp Chile Relleno, and my wife ordered the Queso Chimichanga, and both were so delicious. The food, the rice, the beans, all were so good and cooked well. Even my wife's chimichanga was bursting with flavor. It felt very authentic! The staff here was also very nice! Our waiter was extremely polite, made some suggestions, and was super patient with us as we were a little indecisive with it being our first time. Overall, I cannot complain. I have never had a bad experience at Jardin Corona. Everyone is always super friendly. They are constantly on the look out for drink, chips and salsa refills. The quality of the food is great not to mention cheap! My fiance and I go and can have queso, 2 margaritas, and 2 chimichangas smothered in more queso with beans rice for under $30 We recently took our family who came in town and proclaimed this little hole in the wall is the best TexMex place we have taken them in all their visits to Austin over the past 4 years. At first they were skeptical of the strip mall location. We could see it in their faces when we pulled up, but I'm glad they enjoyed it as much as we do. There is also have a drive-thru window which is great for call in orders and for weekend morning breakfast tacos that I like to go pick up in my pajamas. Traditional Mexican dive food. Best enchiladas verdes I've ever had- the green sauce has no cilantro and it is delicious. Rice and beans, and salsa and chips are tasty. Queso is a little on the plastic-y side, but I mean, it's queso. We still eat it. Service is always very quick and courteous, and the food is always hot. I usually love this place and have been eating here for years but ever since they moved locations by US HWY 183 it has just declined horribly. I had the chimichanga today and let me just say 0/10. The pico de gallo and guac on the side tasted like gasoline and chemicals for whatever reason. Same thing with the beef fajita, it was too greasy and had an aftertaste of gasoline as well. First bite was a mouthful of grease and flavorless meat. Dont get me wrong the people and service was lovely but the food was just not it at all. Overall I will never come here again and I hate to break the tradition in my family of eating here but if this is what Jardin Corona has come to, I think its for the best. read more

If you're in the area, don't go anywhere else for lunch. I don't care what day it is, pick the daily special, get your drink included and get ready to take a nap when you get back to the office. This place is really nothing too special. The chips and salsa do flow like milk and honey, and the iced tea is cold, but the food is only good, not great. The bonus for this place is the location, it's the best mexican food north of Duval on 183. It also has great lunch specials (did I mention the drink was included/) for $5. Awesome. The only other place you can do that is Thundercloud and you still don't get a drink. Oh, one more thing, the service has always been great.
