10 stars for atmosphere, 10 stars for fresh quality food and selection. The small plates were all delish, the burgers were huge. The roasted butternut squash was our favorite. However, service was some of the worst we have ever experienced. Our server was polite but seemed clueless. The hostess was not welcoming. We had a reservation for 8 (4 adults/4 kids) and there were several open tables next to each other when we arrived but the hostess insisted they sit us in the direct, bright sun right at high noon....even though there were other open tables. We asked twice to move to one of the several open tables, but the hostess refused for no clear reason. We then asked for an umbrella which they provided but they really should have offered one when they denied us moving into the shade. Our appetizers and drinks were served very quickly. After our appetizers came, we had to ask for silverware. Our server brought 7 small plates but we were a group of 8. She brought 2 kid straws, not 4. We asked for focaccia bread to be brought out with the ricotta spread, it came out 20 minutes ahead of the ricotta so kids ate it all so we had to order more....only to have it again come out before the ricotta spread. Then we waited another at least 35 minutes for the rest of our food to come out. After 25 minutes, we asked her how much longer before our food would be ready. That is when she said she had put a "hold" on our food since we had appetizers and said she "musta waited too long". We never asked for her to put a hold on our entrees and we placed our appetizer order separately, about 10-15 minutes before we placed our entree order. So there was no need to put a hold on our entree order, nor did she ask. Our kids were beyond tired of waiting and no customer service recovery was performed to make our experience better. We also had to ask for our beer twice and the wrong soup was also served. We mentioned it was the wrong soup but we were done eating by the time she returned so she again, so no service recovery was offered. Chef Dady does it again. After enjoying a stroll through the botanical gardens, we had decided to reserve a table for our anniversary. Very easy to do through the botanical website. FYI you do not need to purchase admission to the gardens for the restaurant. I selected the pork belly hummus, pan-fried octopus, and the pan seared salmon. Husband got the charred carrots and the smoked beef short rib. We ended the night with the olive oil cake and chant lily cream. Everything was spectacular. read more

Went here the other day had a wonderful experience the atmosphere is wonderful I sat on the patio and had the 6 piece mezze plate. I choose the stuffed dates 10/10 probably my favorite thing. The butternut squash 8/10 I think they could have used a little more seasoning but still very very good. The deviled eggs where only a 3/10 very disappointed because they wernt true deviled eggs it was soft boiled eggs cut in half paprika, some sauce and an olive on top it wasn't bad in flavor (maybe a little to much paprika) but when ur expecting deviled eggs this does not hit the spot maybe if they had been called something else. I also had the naan 8/10 made super fresh but surprisingly bland despite the visual of lots of seasoning the leaning ricotta spread 5/10 it was lacking something very neutral in flavor with a slight sweetness could have been a dessert but the olive oil and vinegar threw the flavor off. The mast o khiar 10/10 was very good lots of flavor loved it! I had the herbs and spices to start very good if ur a gin lover very refreshing but not sweet 10/10. I also had the rising son and 7/10 it tasted like a garden it was pretty savory and earthy but I still enjoyed it very on point for the location. The service was absolutely wonderful!!! Food and ambiance was good. Service not so much. We had a reservation, and the hostess told us she would take us to our table after she seated the people in front of us. She took a while seating them, and when she got back to her station, she suddenly remembered we were there waiting. She told us she was going to clean our table and she took her time (again) to get back to her station and seat us. The outdoor seating area was nice, the weather was perfect and we waited for the server to take our order. We noticed a table near us with leftover food from the previous diners. It hadn't been cleared for a long time and there were birds on the table eating the food. There were several servers and the manager in the area but no one was clearing the table. We ordered our food, and when it was brought out, the server informed us that one of the mezze menu items was not available. She waited until she served us to tell us that. She didn't bring a menu or ask us if we wanted to substitute that item with something else. I asked for a menu and she came back 5 minutes later when we were about finished our plates. This restaurant needs to train its staff regarding customer service. As I mentioned, there were a lot of people who worked there, so there was no shortage of employees. The best thing I had to eat was the grilled cheese sandwich. I will remember that for a while, along with the service. read more

Great date night experience. Beautiful setting with a thoughtful serving staff. Manager was very friendly attentive. The beef kabobs were cooked to perfection and the olive oil cake was unreal. My husband and I made reservations at Jardins on a Saturday evening. Although a tad smoky from the kitchen we had a wonderful time sampling the tasty items on the menu. We started with a Sauvignon Blanc from Cali and my husband a Sour. Both drinks were great! To pair we ordered the pick 3 bites: baba ghanoush, stuffed dates, deviled eggs and the blue crab corn hummus with naan. To finish off the meal we shared the lamb balls and a glass of Argentina Malbec. Let me start by saying you must try the blue crab corn hummus and naan....it was delicious!! The dates came in second and honestly I could have finished off the meal with those as a dessert (which I did). Every thing else was good and the service was good (even if it was her second day). We had the most unpleasant experience! Reservations for patio, they called 15 min. before our 5:30 to say patio was closed for cleaning which later proved to not be the truth. They seated us upstairs. There was one other table taken at that time. We waited and waited. No service. Finally a food server not assigned to us took pity on us and took our drink order. Twenty minutes later they arrive-2 are correct and 2 are incorrect. We waited some more. Others were seated and being paid attention to by our assigned waiter. We approached our assigned waiter to remind him we were still waiting as he was waiting on the new arrival tables. One of us went downstairs to inform the manager about our plight. Her response "I'm doing the best I can". Really? We arrived at 5:30 and left at 7:20 with no food, no attention and two wrong drinks. Never again!!! read more

This is my second time here. Servers are very friendly and attentive . The mimosa was with blood oranges . Had beets, pita, crudités, hummus and a fried "something " that had yummy cheese inside. I just realized that I have never reviewed this restaurant and I have been eating here pretty regularly for over a year. In addition I have introduced many friends to Jardin. Because we love this restaurant, we have become members of the Botanical Gardens and regularly combine a visit to the gardens with a meal. Great combination! The food is very good and the experience is fun because there are so many small plates that you can share and the patio makes such a nice place to enjoy your meal. The umbrellas are festive and the plants are lovely to see. There are flies but they have large fans placed strategically as well as table top fly fans. They help a lot but unfortunately flies are just part of outdoor dining. You can always eat inside but we just prefer dining al fresco. We have eaten the larger entrees and my husband has especially enjoyed the burgers and I thought the salmon was delicious, but we are pretty much hooked on the small plates. We can't go without having the Arancini (2 per serving), deviled eggs (4 per serving), Grilled Cheese Sandwich with chèvre and tomato jam (my all time favorite - large enough and rich enough to share), Garden Bruschetta (different toppings- all delicious), Naan with any of the spreads is fantastic and quite large - easily enough for 4 people. One of my friends had the pizza and highly recommends it. All wait staff are efficient and friendly. Never have we had a poor server. Maxwell waited on us last night and he was excellent. I had brunch with a girlfriend at Jardin this past Sunday and we had a wonderful experience. The patio in the garden is absolutely lovely on a spring day. The food was all delicious. We started with the arancini and the grilled cheese and both were amazingly flavorful. We shared the hummus with blue crab, which was also very good and the fresh bread that it comes with was mind-blowing. We also tried the white truffle Milanese focaccia pizza and it was also yummy. The refreshing cocktail menu just added to the feeling of a luxurious brunch. We spent several hours enjoying the food and weather. I'm definitely adding this place to my favorites list. read more

Delicious food, I've been here twice before and this is my third time. Nothing has ever been less than fantastic! Lots of flavors and fun, intentionally thoughtful dishes. The wait time can be a bit long but that's to be expected from a smaller place with all the staffing issues right now. I recommend trying an assortment of mezzes! read more

Wonderful food, service, atmosphere!!!!! Had lunch today with 3 other ladies so we all ordered something different.........Lamb burger, pizza, soup of the day and shrimp salad were ALL fresh and very well prepared. Our server Gerrard was absolutely the best server in all of San Antonio!!! Price are NOT outlandish and food is seasoned perfectly. Hummus is fantastic as well as the pita bread that accompanied it. The food was all good. Had the falafel, pork belly humus, frittata, and Turkey sandwich. The service was the worst I have ever seen. We had to go ask the barista to get our order taken. The server never refilled the water, had to go back to the barista to ask for more water. No plates were ever cleared from the table. Had to go to the barista to request the check. The hostess was also not impressive. We had a reservation and they tried to seat us in then Sun on the patio. There are many other tables in the shade that were empty. The hostess said they had no tables available even though most tables were empty. Then we got sat inside with the Horrible server. read more

The appetizers and cocktails were delicious. The waitress was uninterested she was training so I hope the new person doesn't learn a thing from her. In fact we would have preferred it if she waited on us. We asked for a new glass of water because something was the glass and she looked at us and said I think it's just a leaf. She did give us another glass but why even question it. I ordered the Gambas which is supposed to be spicy shrimp and flavorful but it was bland and soaked in butter not garlic, chili, and herbs. I couldn't even eat the bread it also soaked in butter. My friends gnocchi was tasty. The worst part was the waiter next to us described the whole menu to his tables and was very attentive. I'm really hoping tonight is an "off night" and very slow traffic wise. Our table was sticky with residue and had naan crumbs and chopped parsley on it (before we ordered food, and no we didn't order any naan/bread). One staff member (not our server in training and their mentor) set the salad for the table directly on one person's personal a/k/a shareable plate. Shrimp was undercooked. It had been a favorite for some time, but not sure if it's residual post-COVID or just off/slow night or what. I'm sure we'll try again, but not sure if I'm in as much of a rush. read more

It's ok. The food isn't bad. The prices are absurd . $15 for a wedge of iceberg lettuce sprinkled with bacon, pecans, onions, and ranch dressing. I don't like that this restaurant is so expensive in a public recreational place like the Botanical Gardens. A family of 4 could not eat here for under $50. Also the food isn't for everyone. A sandwich and soup place would have been better. I mean come on a paleta for $4?!? The prices mean not everyone can enjoy a lunch at the park, not everyone is welcome. Whatever. read more

This restaurant has a ventilation problem if you sit inside. My eyes were burning for many hours after the meal and my ears were burning listening to the chef say four letter words to his staff. I would not recommend going here as staff is untrained and to put a client through what went through to eat our meal was unacceptable. read more

This was my second visit to this lovely spot in the Botanical Gardens. The service improved from the first to the second visit. At the second visit, timing was much better. Drinks, appetizers, entrees were well-paced. The pulled mozzarella is a great first choice. A 6" diameter disc of puffy pulled mozz is served with garlicky, buttery toasted French bread. The cheese has a chewy texture and is delicately flavored w salt and a little olive oil. We repeated deviled eggs -- an appetizer we had at the first visit. These are the same deviled eggs that you've had at Tre Trattoria and they're delicious. The yolk to mayo or butter ratio is perfect. Skip the crudités w aioli. It's a serving that's a tad too precious....a few cauliflower and tiny carrots on a bed of bland aioli. Whole branzino is no longer on the menu and I'm sorry that I didn't order it at the first visit. I had the baked chicken instead and it was just OK. The half chicken was very, very small -- slightly larger than a Cornish game hen. The skin of the chicken was not crisp and the flavor was bland. The outdoor seating is ample and social distancing between tables is observed. The crowd is very 09. The atmosphere goes from true casual to dressy casual. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant and it's not necessary to go through the Botanical Gardens to enter Jardin. The prices are a tad high for the quality of the product. read more

Where do I begin? on 12/31 scheduled dinner through OpenTable. It didn't say it was $100 price fixe menu. Was told by waitress that was suppose to have received a call to advise and host at front was suppose to have told us that, neither occurred. OK, can live with $100/person. Then ordered drink from menu and told it was extra even though menu didn't say that. Waitress brought it then manager came to advise us it was extra. I told her menu didn't say that and she said it is extra then took our drinks, wow! Been going there since they opened. She must have been having a bad day. Then menu stated "lobster bisque" which I ordered, they didn't have it, I was told the menu was developed by the owner but they didn't have it.......OK it was shrimp bisque. Then was told menu included desert but only one and it had to be shared.....reallly? for $100? Asked to speak to GM and he was a young jerk. After a disappointing and arrogant discussion, he agreed there were errors on the menu and agreed to provide the drink and advised we each got a desert, then walked away. Wow! Didn't see any desire to work with the customer. This dinner was a total surprise (price) and disappointing experience. Food was good however.....not sure going back after being a customer for sometime based upon management's arrogant behavior. Bad service and lots of flies inside. We had heard so much about this place. The food was over salted and same spice throughout each dish that was so overpowering, and the staff was apathetic and unmotivated. Every piece that goes into a meal was given in increments like water, silverware, plates. Deviled eggs were inedible(how can you mess up deviled eggs?). Lastly one of our guest's meal came very late compared to the other plates. They did comp that after we asked, but again, the comment from our guest was "there is so much salt, I can't eat it". My feelings are mixed. The decor/ambience is great. This restaurant has great potential but something is just so way off...mainly the food. The food is really hit or miss. Some items are great and some a just horrendous. Had the main half chicken dish last week... so incredibly hard, no flavor/seasoning. Prior to my dish coming out the entire restaurant before very smoky. It was probably my chicken that did this. Coincidence? I don't think so. They still served it and sent it back. I've never sent a dish back. I just couldn't get that piece of protein down. I really felt bad about the wasted food. The staff are friendly although for this type of ambience I'd recommend a little more profession staff attire. Overall, I'd go back again but only for lunch which was relatively enjoyable mainly because of the ambience and it's nestled next to the botanical gardens. Horrible experience. It all started with the fact that upon reserving a table, I had requested for an outdoor experience. As we approached the hostess, he stated that he was in the process of making calls to those who had requested outdoor tables since there were none available due to a wedding party who had booked the entire outdoors. It would have been nice to have known this ahead of time so that I could opt for another restaurant considering it was a beautiful day for outdoor seating. We ending up sitting indoors and ordered a bottle of champagne. Call me bougie, but when the bottle of champagne arrived with two short glasses I asked the waitress if she could possibly bring us two flutes for the champagne. She stated that there was a wedding party going on and that they were out of flutes. My wife asked if she could possibly find 2 flutes and you could see the irrigation in her face and stated that she would try. 10 minutes later she arrives to our talble with the same glasses and said stated, sorry, no flutes. We ended up cancelling the champagne and opted for a martini and a Dos XX for myself. Twice I stated that I wanted my beer with lime, no salt. 10 minutes later the drinks arive and guess what, no lime. I asked the waitress if she could please bring me a lime and again you could see the irritation in her face. After 5 minues of waiting I decided to go to the bar and get the lime myself. We ordred 3 appetizers, and were not impressed. Deviled eggs were tasteless, cauliflower was below average. For our main dish we ordered the truffle pizza and the beef short ribs. Guess what, no pizza available. Not surprised. We went with salad and the beef. About half way through our meal my wife was ready for another drink and asked waitress for the drink menu. She brought it and didn't return for another 10-15 minutes. By then we had finished our meal and as she approched the table I just asked for the check.
