This place is great. Very nice atmosphere, cool bar area...just an excellent date night place (and very close to our house). And thankfully the food is also amazing. Wife and I showed up early for dinner, did happy hour instead and went home stuffed. The lamb lollipops were wonderful (not a fan of shoestring fries) but the lamb and the sauce were great. My wife loves the French onion soup (which she has high standards for). And I agree it was very good. I loved the escargot especially with their amazing house made bread. Seriously the bread is warm with a very soft inside and a crusty outside. It was awesome and then adding the escargot (or even just the butter) took it to another level. Stopped in this neighborhood steakhouse near my home for my wife's birthday dinner with the family. Overall, it was a good dining experience. I would like to call out our server, Monica, who was absolutely excellent! As far as the food, the chopped salad was good but the Wedge was even better! As far as the steaks, the filets do need more seasoning and were just a touch undercooked. The ribeye was very good, however. The sides were good, with exception of maybe the brussels sprouts which were very leafy, completely torched and overdone. The chocolate cake dessert was decadent. To summarize, the food was hit or miss. In my opinion, the price point was way more than it should be, as nice of a restaurant as this is. It's not really worth the Select meat that they have for beef selections on their menu. The only exception may be if it's a special occasion, which my visit was. read more

For celebrations, Myron's is consistently a restaurant that offers anniversary and birthday treats. We haven't been to Myron's this year for our celebrations but decided to go this past Saturday. We usually go to the Alon Market location and have had a good experience there. We were welcomed and ushered into the dining area. Dad had the Lemonade, Hubby had the Patio Punch, and I had the recommended Oregon Pinot Noir. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Medallions for my entree and Hubby and Dad shared the Rack of Lamb. Hubby and Dad truly enjoyed the lamb and we'll be sure to bring Dad back when his dental implants are done. Both entrees came with a wedge salad. I had Ranch and Hubby and Dad loved Thousand Island. The lamb portion in the photo is only half because Kelsey had the plate split. The chocolate cake with the candle was the sweet ending on the house. It was a real treat to go to Myron's. I had a gift card from my boss and as it turned out my husband and I really like the food here. I had the salmon and then added shrimp Myron. This dish was very good. My husband had steak and shrimp and thought it was delicious. Our waiter was very attentive and did a very good job of answering any questions we had. We also had the half bottle of chardonnay (who knew this was thing?) My sides were cream spinach and potatoes au gratin and both were very good. My husband had the jalapeno mac n cheese and said it was very tasty. We ended up with bread pudding for dessert to make up for a mistake. Even though we took it home and ate it later, it was still pretty good. This place has a festive atmosphere since almost everyone seemed to be celebrating something while we were there. Frankly, after multiple mediocre experiences at Myron's in San Antonio, they were off our list for fine dining. That said, our adult children, not knowing our dissatisfaction, purchased a gift certificate for my wife and I to celebrate our 40 years of marriage. And to our surprise, Myron's "knocked the ball out of the park" tonight. From the hostess holding the door as we arrived, to the manager welcoming us, to the atmosphere and service, and of course the food... this restaraunt lived up to a "fine dining" experience. The issues that I commented about in years past - all gone, Kudos to the management. Medium-rare steaks, cooked and seasoned perfectly, food came hot, waiter attentive enough and yet not obnoxious as before. Dessert, hot chocolate cake, was delicious and "on the house" for our special occasion, just like it used to be in the old days when they opened (it wasn't offered on our last disappointing visits 5 years ago). Great atmosphere inside the restaurant. The location is in a center with several other restaurants and other retailers. The service was good but I think it could have been much better - the food was good. They are know for great steak and I cannot have steak but my friend enjoyed it. In celebration of my nephew's recent college graduation, my family and I visited Myron's. I had been once before many years ago and don't recall much about the experience. Due to our large group, we were seated in a semi private room that was shared with fellow patrons. I really liked the dim lighting and the decor. Our server greeted us and was very friendly and attentive. I have respect for a server that has to wait on a large group. After glancing at the menu, I chose the bird as my entree. It seemed like the only entree that came with a side, creamed spinach. I selected the creamy gorgonzola for the dressing on my salad. The salad was brought. The dressing was potent, but still had a good flavor. The entree was next. I really liked how crispy the skin on the chicken was, but I wish it had a bit more flavor to it. A sauce to accompany it would have worked. The creamed spinach was pretty good. I am not sure how soon I will make it back to this place. For the price paid, I would have preferred Chama Gaucha which offers more variety and better value. read more

All evening I watched as staff kicked the door open, bumped into each other, and I heard all the sounds, laughter, and other nondescript noise. We even got to hear a glass break and see the shards go in every direction. The bathos of the servers dressed in slacks and white shirts in this cosplay made for wonderful entertainment. I loved the vibe, the sides, and the steak at Myron's! My sister and I are in our early 20's, but we like to dress up and go to nice steakhouses, and this was one of our favorites. Our server was very nice and accommodating. The only thing was she looked at our IDs a little long and suspiciously when we ordered our drinks, which was a little uncomfortable, but I get it we are 22 & 24 and baby faced. She made up for it with great service, and split a rib eye between us (portion size was large!) However, once we made our way into the building, we knew we had chosen the right spot for this occasion. We were greeted by the hostess and taken to our tables. The tables were set, and ready to be used. The lighting of the entire room set the mood for what you aim to be a calm and lovely dinner either with family, friends or a partner. Almost immediately after being sat, one waiter came to serve bread, butter and water and another waiter came to take our drink/appetizer orders, soon after. I got the razz lemon martini & my boyfriend got one of the whiskey items. And for our appetizers we got the house salad with Caesar dressing. Following, our main course came out. I got "The Bird" 2 perfectly roasted chicken breasts with a side of creamed spinach. My boyfriend got the 16 oz filet with a side of mashed potatoes, that we shared. I attended a work dinner and it was amazing! I had the $15 spicy cucumber martini to start. The salad starter was nothing to write home about, but the main course is where it is at! The bread and butter very nice. My ribeye steak was beautifully done medium rare. It was so thick, soft and tender. Definitely 5 stars for the steak. They do an amazing job on the steaks. The green beans and mashed potatoes were nice side choices. I was able to enjoy the cheese cake to go as my dessert. Service was quick and friendly. Fine dining and fancy steak dinner. My parents and I were regulars at Myron's for over a decade. We have celebrated numerous birthdays and holidays here, but our last several experiences missed the mark. I'm not sure how to explain the precipitous decline in quality, mainly regarding service, but our last visit in March was possibly the final straw. I say "possibly" because we had considered returning later this year. Regrettably, my experience with Myron's this afternoon ensured that we will never return. I received an email this morning confirming a reservation for two at 6:45 tonight. I didn't make this reservation, so I left a message with Myron's and asked to speak with a manager. I received a call back from Patrick Ross, the general manager. He apologized for the reservation glitch. I replied that my parents and I were regulars but that our last several experiences were disappointing. I detailed the issues we had during our visit in March. 1) The server forgot to bring my stuffed quail appetizer. 2) The server brought out the wrong salad dressing for my mom. 3) My mom's tenderloin arrived at least three grades below her requested temperature. She sent the steak back and it returned as bloody as the first time. 4) The server appeared dismissive when my mom complained that her steak was still undercooked. 5) My mom never received the complimentary dessert she was promised with her birthday coupon. 6) The server forgot to comp. my dad's entree (the least expensive of the three), another thing promised on the birthday coupon. 7) The older female manager (whom I believe to be Bill "Myron" Been's wife) appeared nonplussed when I raised these issues to her on the day of our visit. Please note that I was not belligerent nor disrespectful to Patrick. I didn't expect an effusive apology, but I did expect something sincere, certainly not a glib, terse, "Well, I'm sorry to hear that" followed by silence. I became a bit perturbed at this point and added, "And that's all you have to say about that?!" He replied, "Well, that's your perspective and I won't get into an argument about it." Speaking as someone in a managerial position, I know how to handle complaints. An appropriate response would have been, "Oh, wow...we definitely appeared to miss the mark. I know you and your family have been regulars here for a long time, and what you describe is definitely not up to our standards. I want to make this right by you. The next time you come in, ask for me and I will personally make sure that you and your parents are taken care of, okay?" Had he taken this approach, my parents and I would have returned. Instead, he angered me and ensured that we will never return. One of my employees was planning to treat his fiancee to an anniversary dinner here in June. I will suggest that he look elsewhere. A little bit of good faith goes a long way. Treat your customers' complaints with consideration and you will likely see them again. Dismiss their complaints and you will lose business. A pandemic is not a good time to alienate customers, especially ones who've spent several thousands of dollars at your establishment. read more

I know you're asking "how does a restaurant go from 5 stars to 3?" It happens. I think Myron's has lost a lot of its shine. Our last several visits haven't been anywhere near the level of service or quality we had grown accustomed to over the years. We've had different servers over all these visits and things have been slow, inaccurate, inattentive, sometimes a combination of more than one issue. Restaurants are still struggling, I get that. The number of "old timers" on staff, from hostesses to servers, has dwindled. Maybe the newer folks just need more training to achieve the traditionally higher Myron's standard. I really don't know. Let's talk prices for a moment. Myron's has always been on the higher end of service, but also in price. Other prime steakhouses weren't as expensive (and still aren't). There might be one or two, but they're downtown so it's expected. Still, for a great steak and great service, it wasn't an issue. We get the same things 99% of the time. Hubby 's favorite is the bone-in ribeye, and it's for good reason! However, the same ribeye today costs nearly $20 more. On our most recent visit, only about half of that steak was edible. It was full of fat and gristle. Yes, ribeye is quite fatty but for a prime steakhouse to serve such a steak without better trimming is astonishing. The only other time we've experienced such an inedible steak was one time at Longhorn, and we never went back. As far as flavor, still the same goodness. They mixed up our "doneness" - I'm a med rare girl and he's a medium guy. Luckily it's dark enough in ithat I was able to convince him it was fine. read more
