This place was originally on my list for their coffee, but then I saw some of their food items and thought I'd have to try the food as well. Had the French omelette with a vanilla latte. It's always fun to try a new coffee spot I haven't been to yet, and I had the pleasure to celebrate my birthday here with my friends! Cute house with lots of outdoor front and back seating, but unfortunately since it was freezing cold, we had to sit inside. Seating was a little limited at that time, but we managed to find a large table for all of us! Super friendly service at the counter. And there was an array of yummy freshly made in house pastries behind the glass counter. I ordered a decaf latte with coconut milk & pump of hazelnut and an almond croissant. The coffee was STRONG, I had to ask for 4 more pumps of hazelnut lol I really enjoyed the toasted almond croissant- I'm a huge lover of almond paste. The rest of my friends ordered some breakfast croissants and they looked super deelish. The brunch menu offered on the weekends looked fabulous too. Afterwards we wandered outside, and in the back they have a chicken pen with the most beautiful rooster and hens. I was excited to try this place out. When you arrive the restaurant itself looks quaint. You have to park in the back. We looked around for any indoor seating but there was none. There is limited space indoors. It was drizzling but the outdoor umbrellas kept us dry. There is a chicken coup outside and we hung out with a local kitty. My friend enjoyed his pastry and coffee as well. He really wanted a caramel latte but they were out of caramel. The taco itself was a little bland and runny. It was nothing to get excited about. My friend didn't eat his since he didn't know it had egg. We were both expecting just vegetables. The place itself is nice. Nice seating outdoors. The decor is also nice. The person at the register has a nice attitude about her. There was another server who I felt came off as rude and she didn't want to be there. I would love to study here early in the morning though it did start getting pretty busy around 9:30 AM, you can tell it is a well loved place! The pastry we had was pretty good! A crossaint like thing with cream and fruit on top. The omelette was great and so was the breakfast crossaint plate. Great amount of food for the price! This is a trendy and comfy coffee shop in the Alamo Heights area. It is right off 281 north of downtown and on Broadway near many museums, universities, and local shopping options. Makes for a great place to meet for a business meeting, too. The coffee and pastries are always tasty and I am a fan of their lattes here. This is such a cute little place and I'm glad I took my out of town guests here. It's a house with not a large sign out front so you could drive past it like I did, but it's ok found my way around back where there is plenty of parking. There is space for everyone here. My party had several differenet items and they were all delicious and everyone finished every last bite of everything; avacado toast, grilled cheese and tomatoe soup, chorizo crepe, tomatoe mozarella sandwich. But what really hit the spot and was a winner was the Campfire Cappucchino toasted hazelnut, butter pecan, with a dash of sea salt, so yummy! I really felt like I was drinking a smore at a campfire! All the flavors mixed together so well, lightly not over bearing but just enought to taste them all. It's been a minute since I visited Commonwealth Coffeehouse and I was pleasantly surprised by their new look! If you haven't been to this location in a few yours (like myself) you will be surprised by their amazing patio and renovated indoor. The new look is definitely more inviting and I really appreciate the new check-in area they created. The flow of the space is so much better and it looks similar to their Hemisfair location. But enough about the place, let's talk food! For my first time in some years I decided to go with their avocado toast, and wow! The food was prepared super quickly and the egg was cooked to perfection. It was filling but not overwhelming. I truly enjoyed every bite of it and can't wait to come back for another one! Also, if you are a coffee drinker I would highly recommend their cappuccinos. They are made just right and taste amazing! My only note for the team is to please include a changing table for babies in their bathroom. Their hemisfair location has one, and I just wish they also had it here. I got an iced matcha with white mocha and the avocado toast and OMG the matcha was so good, and the toast was loaded with avocado (they definitely don't skimp! The inside is a bit small with just a few tables, but there's outdoor seating in the front and a super cute patio in the back with chickens! Such a fun and cozy spot. I ordered the croissant bechamel which comes with a salad and the dressing was so good. I also had a pistachio latte. Wife and I stopped in for breakfast during a trip to the zoo for our daughter's birthday. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and service. The house coffee (I drink mine black) was a good flavor and balanced well with my avocado toast. I was glad to see the portions were well balanced on the toast. But also felt quiet and intimate on the second floor, like a good place to set up and get some work done. You'll order your food and pay at the front upon entering and collect a number for your table The food itself had a lot of value. Great portions! I ordered a Cuban Sandwich, breakfast taco, and a Hibiscus tea for around $20! My friend's food looked just as appetizing. I ordered the oatneal and the yogurt with a medium coffee.... 30.00 bucks (including 2.00 tip). The yogurt (7.75)is smaller than McDonalds and the oatmeal(8.00) is extremely tiny as well. Easily the best part of the restaurant! The chicken coup was so cool to watch. The city birds flocking in and out and looking for scraps and popping in the coup and out as they pleased. Commonwealth is a great place to check out when you're in the broadway area. It has a front and back patio, so plenty of seating if the elements allow for it. The back patio has a very cute chicken coop and herb garden to sit by and relax. The food is usually really good, but can be hit or miss depending on what time you go. We've learned that the quality dips if we go close to closing on Sundays or during lunch rushes on the weekends. Recommend stopping by early to get the best experience - we've gotten cold food and little to no sides with our entrees, so I have to knock a star off for that. The food is awesome though - my favorites are the molletes and the quiche slice with the salad. The drinks are so good - love the regular lattes and matcha lattes! One morning I had a taste for a good flavored latte, so after searching on google, I stumbled across this one and decided to take the dive. Upon walking in it was noticeably busy, but after only a 3-5 minute wait, I was ready to place my order. The staff were super friendly and greeted me with a smile, which is never a given in the service industry. The interior has tables and is bright and inviting! They have a variety of coffee, espresso, and even French press! Feeling hungry? They have breakfast items and pastries as well! I opted for a butter croissant and oat milk latte with chocolate added (mocha). The croissant was hot and delightfully soft, while the mocha had just the right amount of sweetness. From the teal tiles on the ceiling, the the cool pattern tiles on the walls. I feel like I would love to decorate my house just like this coffee shop! The matcha latte is top notch. Definitely one of the best ones I've had. We tried their lunch and really enjoyed it as well. I do thing the bread on the sandwiches are a little too toasted. They hurt the roof of my mouth to bite. I also wish the tomato soup was a lot warmer. One thing that stands out to me most is the smell.. and not in a good way. It almost smells like mothballs or urine.
