I went yesterday for help to add some xeriscaping plants to my yard. I was helped by Betsy and she was amazing. Because I had our landscaper already add a few plants, she told me to wait until spring to purchase more flowering plants so I can get color all summer, early to late. Who does that anymore? i'm a little biased because i spent the majority of my summer slaving away at this place (ha, by that i mean moving around flowers), but it really is a great place. nearly everyone who works here is very knowledgeable (minus me, of course, i'm only sliiightly knowledgeable) and plus or minus a few bad days, is very friendly and helpful. there's also so friggin many trees i don't even know what to do. basically, this was my second job at a garden center, and if you're in the area looking for some flowers, trees, supplies, or sometimes even DELICIOUS jellys and apple butter, go to jared's. you'll pay a little more, but the selection's great, the owner is incredible, and (what i care about) they treat the workers really well. MUCH better than some slightly cheaper competitors cough cough cough. read more

I hate writing this review. I have bought flowers here for years. At the end of May this year we went to purchase a bush. We found one and had help within 15 minutes. My husband went inside and paid $60. I asked the guy helping us if Jared's would plant it. He said no but he would be happy to do so for $80. I asked if he could bring it in his truck because we only have a car. He said no problem (this was a Thursday) and he would call on Monday to come over and dig the hole and bring the bush. I gave him a card with our phone number and address. We never heard from him. So we drove there to find out what happened. (why didn't he call to explain what had happened?) The supervisor (Aaron) helped us and explained that even though we had paid for it they resold it. He said he would have 20 more in the next week and he wrote our number and phone number down promising to get us one of those and he would follow up. Nope, he never called. The customer service is so bad in that department, you wouldn't want to go through what we went through. So we went back a third time to ask for a refund. Front office was great, gave us a refund right away. I just want people to know what a bad experience it was, I mean truly bad. I hope the Owner either changes the processes (selling something that was already sold) or maybe replace the manager? read more

Love it!!!! This place is deceptively large...it doesnt look that impressive from the street, but woah! They've got a small pond section, decor, plants, and more plants! I went two days in a row because there was so much to see! The ladies that work there are very helpful and realistic with your goals for planting, plant choice, etc. I wish I could spend all day there and buy everything!! read more

Went in this morning. We were the only customers. We asked the cashier if someone would be able to assist us in potting a plant we wanted to buy. The cashier asked COLEEN and she rudely protested within earshot that she was busy- she was not. My husband overheard her chastising the cashier NOT to ask her to do that today- it's Christmas Eve. When we left there had been one customer. People like COLEEN need retraining if this business wants repeat customers. read more

Jared's is the most wonderful place. I love getting lost in their greenhouses. Anytime I've asked for help, I received the help plus some other additional green thumb advice. They even sent me away w some fresh herbs they were pruning one time too. Love the people and the plants. read more

I love this place! They have a much bigger selection than I ever need and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Their plants, trees, seeds and soil/ground cover are the best quality although not the cheapest. I guess like anything else, you get what you pay for. read more

Such a beautiful place. I love all the colors of Fall. It's amazing and the staff were kind.

You would think a Nursery would take pride in their grounds. The Eastern side of the property is covered in noxious weeds and looks unkempt. Would never buy plants from a business that keeps their grounds looking like Jared's does. read more

While the flowers might be nice, the people working at Jared's are certainly not. This place is filled with grumpy, impatient employees. Almost everyone I've come across just seems like they're miserable working there and want to be sure you know how much of an inconvenience you are to them. read more

Great selection meets outstanding customer service. I know nothing about fruit or shade trees, other than I wanted both. I Googled and came across Jared's, so I headed over. I searched about 5 minutes, browsing flower options, then started talking with an employee. She sent me to the trees area for a consult. I spent about 20 mins with another employee exploring all sizes and shapes of shade and fruit trees. He gave me all sorts of info and considerations, definitely showing me I needed some more time to consider my options and spacing and measure more of the yard. No pressure sales. I cannot emphasize how important that is as a customer. I will return to Jared's for outdoor needs, and variety not available at super stores. read more

The plants are amazing. They are local and super healthy, I purchased some the other day and I'm so inlove with them. The service is outstanding! Every employee I came into contact with was awesome. I over heard some ladies in the perennial section and they looked young but was telling guests some great information. So if you have a question all employees are knowledgeable. Plus the gift shop is fantastic I bought my mother in law some earings that are gorgeous! Plus I accidentally lost one on the way to my car and every employee knew about it. The owner/or manager helped me look and told others. After I wrote my name down and left I got a call the next day because he found it! I have never been so happy! The lady at the cashier kept it safe and was so sweet. Plus the loaders were very happy that it was found and we're very sweet as well. This is a great place to shop. I went to Jared's for the first time this weekend and with the first impression, was quite impressed. The store itself is quite big and seemed like there was a big selection. The plants looked healthy and they seemed to be laid out like any other nursery. The problem lies in the SERVICE! I didn't have time to stay there all day and look at the total selection so I focused on my main objective - tomatoes, peas, tomatillos, corn, and peppers. A great selection with the tomatoes, but the pepper selection was terrible - no tobasco, jalapeños, Spanish Spice, not much of a selection of bells, and didn't see any Cayennes. Not much time spent at the peas but where I was sent (alone) was a small table so I grabbed a couple. The corn selection was narrowed to just two species on a small end rack. Still I wanted to keep an open mind but whenever I needed help or advise, there was no one around. I seen a girl watering some small plants - she might as well have been using a fire hose with the dirt she was splashing on everyone and their carts. Poor plants. When I summoned her help it seemed she had an attitude - how dare I interrupt her to do something LIKE HER JOB! There were many other little things such as getting directions to what we were looking for. Many times we would get "...go there and turn left" but they were pointing right. When asked again, got the same attitude with the same answer. At times we would be sent to the wrong part of the store, and NEVER was escorted to the general area though we looked lost (my mistake - we were once by a very friendly, helpful young lady). Though irritating, I still wrote it all of to being busy. The cashier was not any better. She asked for my phone number then copped an attitude when I started giving it to her because she started ringing in my sales and was getting confused. When we did get the phone number again she entered it wrong TWICE, told me my number was no good. After two more times (this time entering it correctly), I wasn't showing up in the system and she still insisted that my number was no good! I gave her my mothers number who just went through line ahead of me, and this number was no "good", THREE TIMES! She then just stood there and looked at me. Just to break the silence I asked her "now what, am I in the contractors line? Do I need an account to shop here, or just put my items back"? I think That kind of irritated her. She told me that I only needed a number to track warranty items and I wouldn't be in the system if I have never shopped there. The one good thing was that she was so much of a ditz, she only charged me for half of the things I bought. I noticed this when I got home, so this morning I called to see if they are open ( Memorial Day ). I would like to get another plant and mention that they undercharged me. The girl on the phone had quite an attitude and once she gave me the store hours, I told her that I would be coming down today to...(interrupting me) she just hung up! This is when I decided it's not worth my time! I'm counting my savings from being undercharged and going to Paulino's and spend it! I give the store 4 stars..... I give the service 1-2 stars. read more

They don't warranty any of their plants, like so many other nurseries in the area do. My special, $35 a plant decorative grasses didn't make it one season. Never going back there. read more

After reading some of these reviews, the old saying "bad news travels fast" is in full swing here. I don't write reviews much, but with the experience I had with Jared's, its worth a review. Sometimes people expect positive experiences and don't bother to write about them when they happen. It's expected these days. We have bought a few plants and things from Jared's in the past and decided to purchase a tree for our barren backyard a couple seasons ago. After some time had past since planting, I noticed some issues with this particular tree. I don't know if it was my lack of experience planting, if it caught a disease during transplanting, or there was an issue prior to me buying. I made a call into Jared's and their expert came out right away to check. We gave the tree a couple seasons to see if it would pull through...taking the advice of the expert on a few things I could do to help. The expert came by multiple times just to check while she was in the area. Having gone through some rough late winter blasts and hail storms, this little tree just won't flourish. Even after all this time had gone by, Jared's offered to replace the tree. This "replacement" isn't the reason I gave 5 stars...its the attention that was given to me on one little Big Cis plum tree. I only called Jared's once at the beginning...they were the ones who kept in contact with me over the seasons and later sent me a hand written letter thanking me for giving the tree a chance and that they have another waiting for me at Jared's when I am ready. You can't ask for more customer service than this...and I am sure there are many more that have experienced this as well from Jared's. read more

I really enjoy supporting local business, unfortunately this place just doesn't do it for me. They have some cool plants and gifts during the peak season, but try to find something you need in March and you will wish you went somewhere else. I wanted to buy some Hot Pepper Wax Spray and they did not have it. I was in the place for 15 minutes and no staff offered any help. Last season I went there on 2 separate occasions for ladybugs and cactus soil and they did not have either item in stock. I was even told the wrong day that they would get one item in stock, so there was one more wasted trip. They do have a cool Pumpkin weigh off every year with some activities. Even that was a bit tiresome. They will tell you a time that they will drop pumpkins and have the crowd literally waiting an hour before anything happens. Sadly I will now be going to O'Toole's off of Federal and Belleview from now on. read more
