We were in Monument, and it was lunchtime, so we thought we would give this restaurant a try. The inside of the restaurant is bright and well designed. The overpriced food is edible but nothing to write home about. They also charge for the chips and salsa. The service is lackluster; we were never brought water, which is a given in every restaurant. We didn't have one consistent server. A woman took our order. A young man brought the orders out. No one returned to ask how our food was until we were ready to pay. We were sitting by the windows which seemed to be out of the way for the servers and we had to flag someone down to get a refill on our sodas. We will not be back again and I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to throw your money away on mediocre food. read more

I was on my way to my favorite restaurant in Monument, Arlene's Beans (read my review for them...the best) but ended up here when our family members showed up to the wrong place. No biggie, I enjoy trying new places. The place is quaint, colorful, very clean and filled with Mexican decor. We took a booth and were presented with menus that had a great variety of dishes and each one showed it's origin...super cool. The chips were homemade fried corn tortillas which I like and their salsa was good but a little more heat would've been nice. I have had some of the best Mole in my life outside of Mexico City and in my Moms kitchen so perhaps I shouldn't have ordered the Enmoladas (Mole enchiladas) but I couldn't resist. They were alright.... and most people will probably love it but they can't beat what I've had in the past. My husband had the Tampiquena which he enjoyed but he too felt the same way about the Enmolada. I don't normally order dessert but when I do, it's Flan or Creme Brûlée. I am a sucker for good Flan and this place had it for sure. They offer two types and I got the one with the cajeta and pecans. So so good!! Overall a really good experience and next time I'm in the mood for Flan, I will head on over. read more

It is hard moving from a very diverse food state to one that has less options. Jarrito Loco is by far the most authentic Mexican and delicious food I've found near the springs. I would go out of my way to return here. The staff were friendly, and the homemade salsas were excellent. I had the Flautas de papa, which were delicious and the best I've had. They were crispy but still soft in the middle and not too dry. I really appreciate the range of vegan options here. You can make things vegan at a lot of restaurants by taking off ingredients, but that leaves the food dry and tasteless. Not here. But one tip is to make sure you clarify no cheese on the beans, which they put on even though they left off the other dairy. read more

Don't let the exterior keep you away. It looks very plain, but the food is fantastic. Their roasted tomato and roasted pepper salsa is some of the best salsa I've ever had. The chicken flautas were delicious. The chicken was tender and the green sauce served with them was very flavorful. read more

This place was a wonderful surprise! We stopped in after seeing it from the highway and it didn't look like it was going to be as upscale as it was. It's beautiful inside the restaurant and the staff was so friendly. We had the Cadillac margaritas and for round 2 our waiter suggested that we try the supreme Cadillac - made with mezcal! It wasn't on the menu but it was delicious. We would skip the nachos next time and just do the chips and salsa sampler. Going local was a big disappointment. Took some friends out to dinner on Saturday. They quickly took our beverage order upon seating and several minutes later retuned to take our food order. I asked the server if I could go off menu and he said yes. I ordered a Chipotle sized burrito filled with beans and a little rice topped with guacamole and smothered in spicy salsa and a big side of beans. What arrived was a large burrito filled with mostly uninspiring rice with a little refrieds mixed in, a tablespoon of guacamole sitting on top with maybe 2 tablespoons of pico on top and no side of beans but instead a small scattering of salad mix. The chips and salsa only comes after you order food. The two salsas that come with the greasy chips were really, really tasty. The margaritas were also sub standard. I will definitely not repeat. read more

Do not eat here if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. You'd have better luck finding authentic food at Taco Bell, the only thing worth eating here is the chips. The quesadillas was meant to be a safe option, but the chicken tasted like a Walmart rotisserie chicken. The enchiladas are too salty, the rice and beans had no flavor and the tortillas were definitely not home made. All of this very bad food is overpriced, I have not tried the drinks so I can't say if they are good or not but the food is definitely a no. If you thought Taco Bell made your stomach hurt this is 100% worse. If you have any taste buds please stay away from this restaurant read more

Amazing! My husband and I were looking for high quality, authentic mexican food as we were sick of Casa Fiesta and Arlenes Beans. And this is it! We spoke with the staff and they were so lovely sharing their story and family recipes. Even without know their story, you can tell by their food. The Beef Molle is incredible along with their quality of rice, beans, tortillas made by hand, their strong margaritas and their salsas. I strongly recommend Jarrito Loco! read more

I had high hopes for this place. I Ordered takeout and asked for a quesadilla with no cilantro and it was covered in cilantro that my kids won't eat. Then I ordered nachos and asked just for the toppings and the chips on the side and they didn't do that. They were a soggy mess when I got them home and I had to scrape off the toppings because the chips were not edible. Not a good impression. read more

We ordered food to go since Yelp's website said that sit-in dining was not possible. The ordering process went ok but then we were told that it will take an hour. Not sure whose clock they were using because it was way over an hour. Also, when we arrived, the restaurant was packed with people having dinner so I guess Yelp should revise this site. They are open to sit-down dining. And of course, food was cold and soggy when we go home. Flavors were not bad but I would recommend eating food only at the restaurant and avoid take-out. read more

The inside definitely looks a lot nicer than expected from the way the outside looks. Service was great and the chips and salsa were great. I liked the green salsa a lot better than the red one personally. As for the food... the pozole had an orange color to it and I've personally never seen pozole look like that. It's usually a deep red color. It also had a spice to it that taste almost like Valentina Hot Sauce. I tried a couple of tacos and my fav was the carnitas but my least fav was the cochinita pibil. I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the sauce it was cooked in. My other complaint is that the tortillas are super thick. It was slightly less thick than a gordita but it was about the thickness of 2-3 normal tortillas. When you compare Jarito Loco to a lot of the other Mexican Restaurants in the area, it definitely has a lot going for it... it's just not the authentic flavors I'm used to. read more

This has got to be the best Authentic Mexican Restaurant I've every eaten at. The Mole Sauce is off the charts and the " brown sauce " is unbelievable. The service is equally amazing.
