The Gyro I had was delicious! I haven't had one in so long and a couple of days ago I felt like having one. I also got fries to go with it.... Is it actually open? If so, when? The hours online never seem to match reality. Almost every time I walk by it's closed. Other times it's supposedly open but the phone rings and rings and rings and nobody answers. My wife tried to get us food from there once while it was in theory still open but the guy opened the door and yelled "we're closed!" at her and locked it up. What the heck? We'd love to support this place as it's right around the corner from us but we always end up ordering from Morse Gyros instead because they actually respond and are open. read more

They do not allow service dogs! This is a civil right and an AD right to allow your service dogs in a restaurant. The guy was very rude and kept arguing with us making our situation feel uncomfortable. We do plan to report this business to the ADA and Department of US Justice. It's so sad when you're discriminated against having a service dog. We don't plan on coming here again. How disappointing! We've never had a problem before anywhere else. Continues as a reliable neighborhood grill joint with serviceable tacos, burritos and tortas. (Same owners as Cd. Hidalgo). I don't think they were handmade tortillas...but the carne asada and chorizo tacos were good and the tortillas got warmed up on the grill. Chicken was grilled breast - a little dry. This place is an all-right kinda spot. I go here when I need a quick fix of greasy food like chicken tenders and french fries. It looks like they serve chinese and indian dishes too. This place is just steps from the Jarvis Red Line. Which makes it perfect when getting off the train. And after a rough day of dealing with Gold Coast lunchers it's an easy yummy dinner. Granted nearly the entire menu comes out of the freezer but I"m ok with that. I dont go there often but when I do it's always been good. The meals are priced with or without fries and or a soda. And it's pretty cheap. A cheese burger with fries and coke are around $5.50. The woman who I'll assume owns the shop also is there everyday and she's really nice. Even if I dont go in and just walk by with my dog she waves at me. It's a nice touch in a city where sometimes a blank stare and a shrug pass as customer service. Also, the Bulgolgi is sooo good. This is a solid, jack of all trades, neighborhood food joint. They have a pretty expansive menu for low prices with always a quick turn around (my maximum waiting time is about 15 minutes, but you can call ahead). The only drawback (and honestly not why I rated it four stars) is that they have a minimum purchase if you want to use a card. That being said, your normal meal is usually under $10. Be sure to check your order because when they get busy, they may miss an item, and you don't get a receipt. The only draw back is you have to go there or get a menu from them because otherwise you don't know what your options are. Also, they aren't always consistent on picking up the phone sometimes. I've walked past Jarvis Grill so many times without stopping that I sometimes forget it's even there. The other night, however, I was so hungry and needed something fast and cheap... a perfect opportunity to try Jarvis Grill. I had a cheeseburger, fries and a coke. Meh. It was okay. At the time, it hit the spot, but really it's just your regular greasy grilled cheeseburger and fries. Tonight, again starving and needing something quick and cheap, I decided to stop and try the gyro. After all, they do have the spit 'o meat and signs everywhere advertising their Kronos Gyros! I ordered a gyro with everything, fries and a coke. $7.60. When I got home and opened up the gyro, I was surprised by how big it was. I could have easily asked for a second pita and split the fixings into two sandwiches. The gyro was good! The fries were just okay, and the coke hit the spot. Just moved to the neighborhood & decided to pay this place a visit. I went there one time at 10:30am because on the door it say open at 10am Monday thru Sunday. As I stood outside the owner told me from inside the restaurant that he wasn't open & it was 10:45 am he said he'll be open at 11. I decided to go back a week later because my wife wanted a Philly cheesesteak: I made a horrible mistake ordering that sandwich. The steak was chopped up like hamburger meat like he was gonna make a taco, the bread wasn't fresh, & it was loaded with an insane amount of green peppers & onion. My wife said it worst philly she ever had & then said she wouldn't feed to a homeless dog. I'll never go there again to buy anything. Also, he's overpriced. I'll keep going to parkside grill. I came up to Jarvis today in search of some cheap Indian food at Luzzat. Turns out they are closed on Tuesdays. Worked out for me anyway as I found this nifty and extremely cheap little diner next door. I've been looking for good, cheap eats that are convenient for lunches in and around Rogers Park and this is a find. Location is prime here as you can feel the Red Line rumble above you while you eat. Other than that, the place is quiet and the lady behind the counter is plenty friendly without being annoying. Perfect for the student looking to do some catch-up reading right before class (as is usually the case for me). The burger I had was nothing spectacular, but it was fresh and tasty without overdoing the grease. It certainly compares favorably to anything you'd get at your average fast food joint anyway. The fries also fit the "nothing really special, yet tasty and fresh" mold. It helped that there were quite a few of them. I threw a little salt at the tray and had no complaints. The best part here, however, is the price. Five bucks flat for a decent sized burger, a good serving of fries and a can of soda. The menu looked to have numerous similarly priced options. They double tax if you use a credit or debit card. Claim to up charge an additional $.50 when it is the extra change plus an additional tax fee. They only got one star because of that since it is illegal to do so. The food is decent if you want a gyro, burger, hot dog, or fries. Update: most recent visit, fries were cold. Next time I'm there I am going to say something about it to the manager (who is ALWAYS there) and see if he does anything about it. I'm keeping it 5 stars till then. Food here is really good, especially the gyros and fries. Actually the fries are SUPER yummy (they are seasoned and crispy). The prices are also VERY reasonable. Despite the 5 stars, there are two issues: 1. They are only open until 9 pm and a restaurant with food this good should be open later, and 2. They don't handle crowds well. Everything is cooked to order in the order it comes through the door. They only do one order at a time, so if you come in and there are 3 people ahead of you (not at all unusual) plan on waiting a LONG time.
