We placed a phone order on a Sunday for mild red curry with brown rice and Pad Thai. When we picked it up, the curry was hot instead of mild, the Pad Thai was sticky and unappetizing, and the brown rice came in a tiny container that was much smaller than what other Thai restaurants typically serve. When I called to ask about the rice portion, the employee became defensive, insisted the small portion was normal, and hung up on me before I could finish speaking. The lack of basic customer service was disappointing. It also made sense why the restaurant was completely empty on a Sunday. This was our first time visiting this restaurant. It ended up being a smaller location than expected but that did not change the experience. The music playing was nice and the service was fairly attentive. The food came out very fast and was plenty for 2 to share. The Mongolian beef also comes with a side of white rice. I placed an Uber Eats order about 45 minutes before closing, and it was canceled right at 9 PM with no message, no call, nothing. You had me waiting the entire time, and I could've gone to another Thai restaurant. Nobody answered the phone, and I was left completely in the dark. That's disrespectful and unprofessional. I hope you learn to treat people better and have the basic courtesy to notify them when their order is being canceled -- not leave them hanging and ignore calls. Today when got home all 3 boxes was the thinner white rice noodles that use for Pho which has soup not ideal for stir fried. My review of Jasmine Thai is partially based on the Uber eat drivers comments and mostly my my own thoughts. 1) food arrived cold because they made the Uber eat driver wait for 10 minutes even though the food was ready 2) the young skinny man who was the cashier was extremely rude to my Uber eat driver and he kept repeating to the driver,"you can leave if you're in a hurry" 3) Uber driver told me that the food was ready and sitting on the counter while the rude cashier kept getting utensils for another customer and miscellaneous items 4) Uber driver mentioned that it would have taken the root cashier 5 seconds to hand over my order to him as opposed to arguing with the Uber driver for 3 minutes 5) Uber driver kept apologizing for the late delivery and he told me the whole story Having grown up in America and having work in the food industry, we were always taught that CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. But apparently this particular young rude man / cashier at Jasmine time did not get the memo and he acted as if they are doing me and other customers a favor by preparing the food even though it is the customer that keeps the restaurant in business. This could be because of some cultural differences but if you choose to have a business in a land where customer is treated nicely so they become repeat customers, your approach should be completely satisfactory to the customer. I am very disappointed at this whole episode which was 100% the restaurants fault and I will never ever order from Jasmine Thai in city of Winnetka. There was no hint of lemon grass or any of the Thai spices that make Thai food, so authentic and different. In fact, it tasted like brown gravy sauce, that maybe you might find in a cheap Asian restaurant and they use the same sauce for all their different dishes. Everything tasted the same and it all tasted bad. and in fact, it also tasted like the brown sauce was done up with old beef , it was a stench smell and taste . I wish I listened to a review. I read that someone else complained about it in another review but he mentioned brown rice so I assume that was either a special order or something like that . Well - unless you wanna go hungry - make sure you order a side of rice ( or have a rice cooker at home . The YELLOW CURRY was mild and a little watery, but it was fine. The PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE was delish, but I had them hold the egg which they were happy to do. The service is friendly and attentive, but also they know how to leave you alone to have a nice lively chat/catchup with a friend. Lovely wait staff. The restroom is a little pale in comparison, no decor to speak of...but clean and well appointed. This place is a hole in the wall, and in my experiences, sometimes they stir up the best authentic foods. Well, not quite this place...I love Thai food, it's my favorite. But the dishes we ordered were good, not great. I felt that the consistency of the Panang Chicken Curry dish and the Tom Kha soup were runny, and both could have used more vegetables...though, the chicken fried rice was pretty good. The truth is it was my favorite restaurant but after all this I will never return and I will not recommend it to anyone. They have terrible service and the waiter does not write the orders correctly because he makes consecutive mistakes. and I didn't leave them tips because they don't deserve it since they never went to see if we needed anything else I hope the owner does something about this situation. This used to be a 5 star restaurant. Now it's just as expensive as it was with food that tastes like you should be paying 75% less. Check the pic, they really splurge with the side sauce. $50 for 3 items and it all tasted like vinegar. Must have changed the won ton wrapper on the Thai Sticks too. Such a shame. My wife ordered the Tom kah noodle, and enjoyed it. My only complaint about this joint is the level of cleanliness...dirty walls, ripped and well worn carpets, and water stained drop ceiling tiles were disappointing. Ambiance is roadside greasy spoon, prices were slightly above expectation, and staff was friendly and prompt. This location is not as nice as WH or PR, so I will likely go to one of those in the future... this joint does not make the list. read more
