After many years as a loyal Jasmine customer (usually dining there, not takeout), in our last two visits it seems something has changed and not for the better. The new-look menu has different choices, a hint of possibly new ownership and kitchen staff. Overall our food was no better than average. Our beef and pork dishes were very disappointing compared with the old Jasmine. The ingredients seemed cooked fairly correctly but not flavorful. Egg rolls were very bland. Flatware was dirty and waitstaff did not anticipate we might want to share our entrees and needed serving utensils and extra plates. read more

Very pleased. A flyer was placed on our door and figured we would give it try. Server was animated and clearly loves his job and the place - we suspect he is the owner. I loved the food - disappointed the almond chicken is stir fry but I know that is regional. Excellent flavor with everything - I had hot jasmine tea, California Roll, sizzling rice soup, and the mixed vegetable chicken. The California Roll was smaller than what we are used to but we've also never ordered one in a Chinese restaurant. We could see there were regulars that came in, all staff was friendly and eager to help with all customers, the restaurant was clean and not too busy. We will be back again and again. A delightful dining experience! Decor is upscale and refined, but inviting and not stuffy at all. Service is attentive but not intrusive. I selected the General Tso chicken with fried rice and green tea (hot). The chicken bits are premium quality with moderate-to-heavy breading applied. The accompanying carrots and broccoli florets were high quality and steamed "al dente." The brown sauce was probably the best I've ever had! The fried rice was amazing - fully cooked, yet reasonably fluffy (as much as fried rice can be), with a really delicious flavor. The green tea was somewhat pricy ($3.50 for a pot); however, the serving was very generous. My chicken entree was so generously sized that, although I arrived quite hungry, I could not quite finish it. Special Note: Jasmine would be an excellent place to take a date! This used to be my go to place for Chinese. Since 2006 I think. It was one of the few places that made their own potstickers, rather than buy the same potstickers it seems every restaurant has. No longer though, they claimed they could not find the ingredients. I also would get a few other dishes. Consistency became poor, perhaps based on what chef might have been cooking that evening. I was excited to try the egg foo young and 1 solo tear dropped from my eye on the first bite. To start the egg patty wasn't seasoned. The bbq pork tasted old and the gravy was more sweet than savory. I'm from the west coast so I'm used to savory gravy and having to add a trickle of soy sauce. The sauce is salty! It's not edible without plain white rice to offset it a little bit. First time trying jasmine after being recommended it. Was very excited to try but for $100, it was not worth it and very disappointing. We ordered the beef and broccoli which id rate a 5/10. The Mongolian beef which id rate a 7/10 the general chicken tso which was rated 6/10. The fried rice was disappointing, definitely not what I was expecting and seemed pretty old. The egg rolls were all soggy, none of them had a single bit of crunch to them. The chicken dumplings were good and the fortune cookie was probably my favorite. Not bad Chinese food! The restaurant is tucked away in a small shopping center off Beltline rd. If you aren't paying attention, you'll miss it. You'll also have to walk up a flight of stairs so if you have health issues, the stairs might work against you. I've been looking for great Chinese food and my friend recommended this place. We went during lunch and the restaurant was empty. Only one table and ours. I'm so glad I got to use my check-in offer from Yelp: a free appetizer under $8!!! We did the crab ragoons and they were sublime. Their lunch specials are a great bargain. You get a choice of soup, egg roll, and fried rice with your entree. I devoured my wonton soup. The broth was delicious and the wontons were big and flavorful. For the entree I had the sweet and sour chicken. Sweet and sour chicken is one of those items that if it isn't done well, it's a tale-tale sign the rest of your food sucks. Mine was more on the miss side than the hit. The chicken was deep fried a little too long so it was crunchy and dry. The fried rice was bland and had no egg or vegetables present. I also left with an overwhelming garlic taste in my mouth. I want to try this place again for dinner. Sometimes because lunch crowds can be sparse, dinner is better to get a true sample of the chefs work. Not very good Chinese food. Being that their sign outside of the business says "uniquely Chinese" I decided to give this place a try for lunch one day. To begin with, the hostess that they have upfront is extremely rude. They need to be more friendly and respectful to their customers. Having a nasty attitude does not help to attract people to your business. After picking up my order, I was disappointed when I opened the containers of food. The boneless spare ribs tasted old and chewy. The sesame beef was flavorless and the fried rice that accompanied the beef was disgusting. Fried rice should have more ingredients to it. This fried rice seemed like they half way stirred the rice in a pan/wok and dumped it into a container. Coming from out of state, I am familiar with good Chinese food. It is not easy to find good Chinese food in the DFW area. This is not even acceptable by any means. The atmosphere seemed dull and lifeless. read more

I'm used to almond chicken being a lightly breaded, deep fried, chicken breast with a thick almond sauce and shaved almonds. What a great lunch spot! Definitely the best Americanized Chinese in the area (much better than the many creepy buffets nearby). Jasmine is in a somewhat bizarre location - upstairs on the second floor in an office building, but no matter, the food is good. The service on our lunch visit was great - our waiter was very attentive and cordial. He spoke very clearly and seemed to put effort into enunciating to overcome the language barrier - a very kind gesture that didn't go unnoticed. Crispy wontons have always been a favorite of mine, so I was excited to have them served with spicy (and I mean SPICY) mustard and sweet & sour sauce a la chips and salsa. Unfortunately we didn't get the wontons prior to ordering our meals, otherwise I think we all would have ordered the sweet & sour chicken... the sauce that came with the wontons was awesome! It wasn't as syrupy as most other Chinese places, and it wasn't painfully sweet, either. They have very reasonably priced lunch specials (just under $6-8 for a page full of options with a variety of protein choices). The Mongolian beef was good, but I would have liked more meat and less onions. The seasame chicken was also delicious and came with more than my husband was able to pack in. Last but not least, the mimosa chicken was worth taking leftovers home for the wife, so our whole table was pleased. We'll definitely be putting Jasmine in our work week lunch rotation! This is based on a take-out order that was picked up. Oh heck yeah! How did I not know about this place? Received a menu in the mail so, my s/o and I figured "why not"? (Been looking for a new chinese restaurant) Plus, their menu seems to have a "chinese food" side and a "japanese food" side. So much to choose from! We decided for our first try, don't go overboard. We got an order of crab rangoon, steamed chicken with snow peas and the three flavored chicken. Also, a slice of their key lime pie. Both entrees came with your choice of steamed rice or fried rice. So much food for only $36! We seriously couldn't believe this would actually taste good. It did. Everything did. Probably the best crab rangoon I've had in awhile. Went in today with my hopes up, I've always wondered about this place but never had time to stop by until today. Please note, the service is not the reason for the rating. However, the hostess seemed to hurry us in, only so we could wait about 15 minutes for the ONE server to take our drink order. He was a middle aged man who seemed annoyed and overwhelmed. There were only 3 tables on a Friday at 12:15. Once he took the drink order I ordered two appetizers to give them a try. Crab Rangoon's and their Rock Shrimp. The server was definitely visibly and verbally annoyed that we ordered the Rock Shrimp and said that Rock Shrimp take at least 20 minutes to cook. I wonder why they have it on their lunch menu then? Guess what? The "Rock Shrimp" aid supposed to come with a chefs special fiery sauce, IT'S SWET AND SOUR SAUCE! Yes. It. Is. And it came out within 7 minutes, I timed it! The crab Rangoon's looked great on one of the Yelp customer pictures however ours were soggy in the middle. No season for real depth of flavor to the shrimp by the way. I had the Kung Pow Chicken, with fried rice. Chicken was only alright and on the sweet side. Unlike other restaurants they REALLY skimp you on the rice. The server was oh so apathetic, he shuffled the plates pushing them against you, it was odd. Also you can't order anything off of their menu during lunch, you can only order off of the lunch menu provided. I wanted to try their MuShu Beef but was told that wasn't possible by the server. They need to revive the place, it feels like it was once a nice place and is now just as run down as the server. Bottom line, you're better off at Panda Express. read more

Didn't get my order right and completely left out one entree I ordered. I got take out and didn't check my order until I got home. If the food I received is any indication it isn't worth my time to go back and ask for the chow mein they forgot to include. I'd review the egg rolls too but they forgot to put that in my order as well. As many reviews state the fried rice is terrible, just rice fried, no veggies and a few specs of egg, flavorless. Walnut shrimp is pretty terrible, doused in what tastes like sweet and sour sauce with a few walnuts thrown on top. The shrimp is very soft, like the fried exterior had been sitting in the sauce for hours. The whole entree only had 5 shrimp in it though so I didn't have to choke down too many. The generals chicken is edible and the portion is large, but the taste is very bland, tastes more like orange chicken than generals chicken. If I could do this over I would have just gotten Panda Express and been much happier. I will not be coming back, worst 40$ I've ever spent on "food." read more

Enjoyed this place. I had never been so I wasn't sure what to expect. The stairs up to the restaurant caught me of guard but there is an elevator should you need one. Once inside it was a neat place. The ambiance is what you would expect to see in a movie. The food was pretty good with very good service. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. I have ordered from Jasmine once before online and wasn't impressed. It had been at least a year since I last ordered, and I keep seeing the reviews are decent so I decided to give them another chance and ordered again last night. It was worse than I remembered. I got the Pu Pu Platter. The cheese boat was the best thing in there, even though it was a bit greasy. There was also an egg roll, devoid of flavor, pretty much just cabbage. The roast spare ribs were bright pink, overly sweet and CHEWY. The jumbo shrimp was a massively overbreaded, greasy piece of cooked-to-death-shrimp (and jumbo is not how I would describe it at all). There was chicken on a skewer, not bad. Beef on a skewer, not terrible, but tasted like soft beef jerky. And lastly a fried chicken leg. Overcooked and the breading had curry in it. (not a fan of curry) I ordered the House Egg Foo Young. I think that there should be more of a description displayed because it was not what I was expecting at all. I thought this would be stir fry with shrimp, beef, chicken and some egg. It was more like an egg omelette with everything thrown in. BUT, this is on me since I ordered something I guess I was unsure of exactly what it was. In short, I spent $30, couldn't eat hardly anything and was still hungry. What am I going to do, complain and have them give me a credit for some more crappy food? I will just share what I have learned so that maybe someone else can spare themselves this waste of money.
