Presentation was nice.. food not so much.. I was there from 7-8pm and I was the only customer. I think it was th owner (tall man) was kind of rude and the young lady( I believe is the daughter) which was very sweet and nice. Wow, who is rating this place 5 stars? Maybe I just came on an off day but this was an awful dining experience. I get there a little before 5 and the place is empty. Three people standing at the back of the restaurant seem like they're glancing shiftily at each other seeing who will crack under pressure first to help the new customer. One of the first things you'll notice in here is the huge central air duct running through the middle of the restaurant that doesn't seem to be on. It's hot in here, makes it's oversized presence almost comical. Half the menu isn't even thai food? Pho is vietnamese, sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken are chinese dishes, americanized chinese at that. I ordered the spring rolls, an order of two. Each one is about the size of your thumb and if not store bought, they are definitely made and frozen for a while. The vegetables inside have all merged together into an indiscernible paste. I ordered the jasmine stingrays. These tasted closer to some sort of mexican dish, almost like the El Monterey frozen chicken and cheese flour taquitos. That paired with the "premium" white tuna made for a very off-putting combination. It didn't help that the wonton wrappers tasted and felt old. If you replaced the tuna with ground taco meat I wouldn't be surprised to see this on the taco bell dollar menu. The Massaman curry was too runny, didn't have enough Bite and didn't have enough curry. It was basically heavy cream with a little curry flavoring thrown in and some undercooked carrots and potatoes. The beef in this dish was the chewiest bottom shelf meat I have ever eaten. This was one step away from being jerky and I feel bad saying that as its an insult to jerky. You'll get a couple bites into this, then say to yourself, "I mean, I could keep eating this, but what's the point?" The whole time I was in there, the only other customer to show was ordering takeout. At one point my waiter disappeared outside while my water glass sat empty for five minutes. How can someone not see a water glass to be filled with no one else in the restaurant? Keep driving and head to Sap's or Sip Saam Thai in Austin. Or Thai Spoon in Round Rock. If you've never had thai before, please don't let this be your first experience with Thai food as it may ruin your overall view of what Thai cuisine has to offer when prepared properly. read more

I stopped in here on Friday, December 27, around eleven. It's not much to look at, but the food was great and the service was good. They have a small "bring a book leave a book" library in the corner, and the dining room was simple and clean. I'm doing a keto diet, so I asked them to hold the rice, and they offered to swap steamed vegetables at no extra charge. My spouse and I had heard the food here was great so thought we'd try it tonight. The food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered the spring rolls, Crab Rangoon, and pork egg rolls for apps. The Rangoon was probably the best I have tasted. And the dipping sauces were very tasty. We also tried the chicken massaman curry that came with sticky rice. First, the presentation was so pretty. Great food and service. I was out shopping at Bastrop's H.E.B. and ran into a buddy of mine from work. My wife and I asked DAVID if he wanted to join us for lunch at JASMINE THAI CAFE. This is our 5th time eating here and it was David's first. He loved it. I ordered the pineapple chicken fried rice, it was awesome and my wife ordered shrimp fried rice. She also loved it. We were given a large plateful and could not finish the food. David ordered the PHAD THAI beef and he thought it was great. For soup we ordered TOM YUM SHRIMP with rice and it was terrific. I've heard lots of good things about Jasmines and we tried it for lunch. I ordered the green curry which was supposed to be mild and my friend ordered the yellow curry which was supposed to be spicy. Due to a mistake in their menu, mine was almost too spicy and hers was mild. Both curry dishes had potatoes and carrots in them. Served with rice. That was a bit disappointing to me, too many starchy carbs. What no real vegetables? No snow peas, no bell peppers, no veggies? Only 4 shrimp in my curry, too. For $10? It was too spicy for me and I didn't finish it either. I will say that the crab Rangoons were very good and fresh. The meal was presented beautifully. The portion was small though, especially for the price. Service was good. But nothing was done about it when we asked about the discrepancy in the spiciness. I won't go back again. read more

This is the best Thai food I've had in so long. The Thai iced tea was almost too sweet but very good. I got the Panang Curry and my boyfriend got the Pad Thai. Very friendly family-run restaurant. It was pretty quiet when we went so we sat and got served some hot tea immediately. I got the yellow curry and it was great. I added some Sriracha for extra spice. The food came out looking really appetizing. An appetizer and two entrees was just under $40 with tip. Good stuff! read more

Jasmines is an excellent stop. If you are passing through Bastrop, it's worth a detour to dine there. The owner makes a sweet lemongrass sauce from her grandmother's recipe. She serves it with their crab Rangoon's, they are the best I've ever had. By far. The pineapple fried rice is very good. The Penang curry could be hotter, for my palate, so order accordingly. Same for the Tom Kha. I should have discussed heat levels prior to ordering. That's on me. All in all, very good recipes, very well executed. Enjoy. read more

The food is good and artfully presented. I had the pineapple & cashew fried rice, very tasty with lots of little surprises throughout. We also had the orange chicken and sweet-and-sour chicken and an order of spring rolls. All had a nice flavor but even the ones that should've been a bit spicy were not. The service and attitude of the Owner or husband of the Chef left a bit to be desired. We found better food and service at Siam's the next day. read more

What a wonderful surprise, the restaurant it kind of tucked away off Water St but well worth looking for. I had the Thai Coffee and Spring Rolls to start, both were great. I then had the Yellow curry and my friend had the green curry. Both were tasty and spicy without being overly hot. I loved that I could substitute tofu for the chicken in the curry I got. The waiter is also the owner and the husband of the chef. He was attentive without being overbearing. My only regret is that I didn't have room for the Thai ice cream. read more

We just had lunch delivered via doordash. The crab rangoon smelled like it was rancid and spoiled when we pulled it apart after my daughter complained that she didn't like it. First time visiting and I am very happy we did. I was craving pho and my regular place was closed so you can imagine how pleased I was that it was on the menu. The plating is very nice, the broth was marvelous, the portion was a normal person size and I still had to take leftovers home. It was the first day of spring break and had been craving Thai food all day and was excited when I found this business. I got an overpriced Pad Thai and it tasted strange. It was sour and even smelled fermented. But since I had been craving Thai and wasn't accustomed to how Thai food should ACTUALLY be, I ate more than I should've. I had food poisoning for my ENTIRE spring break and couldn't do anything but lay down nauseous and in pain. What a fabulous meal! I had the panang curry. It was outstanding. My husband, who is not a curry fan, tasted it and said it was so good that he would order it next time. The Massaman curry had almost NO curry in it, it tasted like drinking straight coconut milk. I asked for it to be spicy, and it had ZERO spice added even tho it says mildly spicy on the menu. I couldn't tell what was wrong with the Pho other then the noodles were tough and more like ramen noodles then Pho noodles, and the meat was very cheap and chewy, but what was wrong with the actual broth I couldn't guess from tasting. It did not satisfy my body as Pho broth usually does. When I called the 208 number they have listed, no one picked up and instead it was a slightly rude message for a personal cell phone, when I mentioned they had the wrong number on the apple maps the husband of the owner shrugged and said yea that's my cell, as if it was normal to have a personal cell with a personal message attached to your business. If you have any experience eating thai food or pho you will most likely be very disappointed with the food here. read more

Really excited to have Thai in Bastrop, and wanted to love this place, but it was a complete disappointment. The restaurant was very clean, and the staff friendly and attentive, but the food was terrible. I ordered Pho Squared (beef Pho with steamed vegetables). I specifically asked if the vegetables were fresh or frozen, and was told they were fresh. The Pho broth was tasteless, the beef was poor quality and "old" tasting, and the vegetables (green beans and carrots) were most certainly frozen. My dining companion ordered Pad Thai, and it was a gummy tasteless plop of food on the plate. Really awful... It was pricey for lunch, too - $12 for each plate. Sorry, but if you really want Thai this is not the place. read more
