This is a family-owned and run restaurant. It's situated in a double-wide trailer home, and it's roomy and good for a gathering or a quick lunch. Be careful when ordering hot dishes; they're mild. It's still spicy, but it was perfect for me. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. They offer a complimentary soup to begin your course meal, which, if you're not really hungry, will fill you up. On several occasions we had to took our meals to go because they were super busy, and we were short on time, but it was really well packed for us. read more

Stopped into Little Thailand last night for dinner and grabbed some fried tempura shrimp, the Pad Kra Prow and the Yellow Curry. I was tempted to get the Pad Thai (the menu is covered in photos of each dish) but I decided on the Yellow Curry - which, thank goodness I did because it was AWESOME! Exactly what I wanted. Spice, flavor, aroma, all 10s. (Would recommend the shrimp if you want a protein as the chicken is little dry) My husband also enjoyed his Pad Kra Prow. Little Thailand is a little out of the way from me usually, but it's off the highway near Circuit of the Americas, so I've ended up stopping by on more than one occasion. The interior feels supremely small, but it's brightly lit and very clean. The same thing can be said for the restrooms. Service is fast here, but be aware that even if the restaurant itself is empty they're taking a ton of to go orders so you'll be in for a bit of a wait. However, the wait is worth it! Your food will be hot and delicious. On my trips here I've had their tofu pad thai, spring rolls, yellow curry, and Pad See-Ew. They've all been SO good. I've been told the fried rice and Tom Yum are also good. The curry is great for the colder times of the year. And I highly recommend ordering their Thai tea during a Texas summer. We snagged takeout and feasted on pineapple fried rice (sweet-tangy explosion of fluffy grains and juicy fruit chunks), Penang curry chicken and beef (velvety coconut waves hugging melt-in-your-mouth tender meat with fiery spice bliss), and pad woon sen (silky glass noodles dancing with crisp veggies in umami heaven). Little Thailand is sort of tucked away off a frontage road adjacent to the freeway. It's not huge and lives up to the "little" aspect of its name; dirt lot, unassuming. It's small inside but it has a cozy vibe to it. Oddly low ceilings though but hey, whatevs. Service was super friendly and accommodating and we got sat pretty quickly. I got the vibe that this is more of a takeout place than a dine-in. They had several orders bagged and ready to go and a seemingly endless stream of people coming in to claim their brown bagged bounties of deliciousness. I had the crab fried rice and it was a good decision. TONS of food and could have easily been shared. They really hooked it up with the crab and it was all cooked to perfection and not overly greasy. I love this place so much. I am a local and have worked in the library near the restaurant in the past. I always made a point to go over and get my faves: pad thai, mango sticky rice, and thai tea. My spouse loves the curries; and i can assure you all appetizers are delicious. Pricing is fair for the fresh and delicious food. When a restaurant serves Boat Noodles, a Thai food lover should take note. Why? There are several reasons. First, making Boat Noodles is a project. Putting it on the menu is a commitment. Second, it's not the kind of dish that has mass appeal in the US. Pork blood is its most important ingredient, FFS! So if it is in constant rotation on the menu, it's a sign that the restaurant isn't into the "dumbing down" thing. And third...if you ask Thai people what's their favorite dish, many will say "Boat Noodles." So this is a dish that you and I should WANT to eat. Little Thailand serves Boat Noodles. 'Nuff said! What are Boat Noodles? Sounds like a nautical dish full of seafood. It's not. Let me quote the description on Little Thailand's menu: "A classic Thai style rice noodle dish packed with sliced beef, meat balls, pork blood and cilantro in a dark soy sauce pork broth served with bean sprouts, basil leaves and crispy pork rinds on the side." In short, it's noodles...served in an intensely flavorful broth...enriched with pork blood. But don't let pork blood scare you. You'd never know that it's in there, but you would know if it wasn't--if you catch my drift. Pork blood is the X-factor that elevates the dish to next level. Little Thailand's Boat Noodles are fabulous. The broth is an explosion of tart, spicy, rich (hello pork blood!), umami flavors firing at your tongue from every conceivable direction. They give you a choice of proteins. I chose pork, and the quantity was quite generous. They give you a choice of spiciness. There are four level of spiciness, ranging from mild to "Thai Spicy." I opted for level 3 (aka, "Spicy"), and it had enough kick to make my nose run...but not so much that I was convulsing with flop sweats. "Spicy" was nicey. And I ate every single noodle, every slice of pork, every bean sprout, every leaf of basil, and drank every drop of that glorious broth. It took all the discipline I could muster not to tongue-bathe the interior of the bowl. Suffice it to say, I loved Loved LOVED it. The building itself is clean, intimate, and spare. It's a small, simple dining room that (to me, at least) felt rustic in a Wisconsin supper club kind of way. The facade is hard to miss, with its red and gold pagoda motif. Little Thailand is located south of Austin. It's a bit out in the boonies, yet is a quick, easy, uncongested 20 minute drive from east Austin. And it has its own parking lot. Yay! I consider its quasi-remote location a plus, because there are few things I dislike more than city congestion and parking. Service was friendly, efficient, and professional. Prices are reasonable. This was my first trip to Little Thailand, and I intend to go back again and again to eat my way through its menu. And, of course, to have more Boat Noodles. A lot more Boat Noodles. Great food, great service, relaxed location. Little Thailand is a jewel and a keeper. read more

I love this place. It's run by Thai people who take pride in their culture and their food and want to share it with the world. We enjoyed everything we tried so much that we ordered another two dishes to go. I'm a Thai food snob. I've had favorite, go-to Thai restaurants everywhere I've lived (the San Francisco Bay area, Orange County, Houston and Dallas area). And I'm pumped that I've now found all my favorite Thai dishes near our new home in Bastrop County. It's a small and humble place that they've transformed into an authentic Thai experience. And they outdid themselves with the grand entrance to this simple, tin-roof structure. They don't have a license for alcohol but you can bring your own. I never order Pad Thai anywhere. And I didn't order it here. My favorite noodle dish (Thai or otherwise) is Pad Kee Mao (also called drunken noodles). They probably don't sell a lot of it because it was a bit buried on the menu. I enjoyed it, but for my taste, I would remove the green vegetables (snow peas, broccoli, green beans, cabbage) and add a lot more red bell pepper and maybe some baby corn. Aside from the hand-torn noodles, chicken, seasoning and aromatics, it's the red bell pepper & holy basil that make this dish for me. The other vegetables just distract from the final product, in my view. But this was my only improvement suggestion of the meal. I also love Larb (finely diced meat seasoned with mint, basil, Thai chilis and a roasted rice powder). They not only do this great dish justice, they give you a choice of chicken, beef or pork. It's served with sticky rice and a side of raw cabbage. It was one of our to-to dishes and was so good, we had it cold for breakfast the next morning and really enjoyed it! Nua Nam Tuk (spellings vary since they don't use the Greek alphabet, of course), is another favorite Thai dish is mine. It's a thinly sliced beef salad (no lettuce or cabbage) made with Thai herbs and red chilis. Delicious! We'll also order this again. And it's highly recommended for anyone on a keto / low carb diet, too. My wife is into Chicken Satay and fried chicken wings, and she really enjoyed both. But my favorite thing to order in a Thai restaurant is curry. I enjoy Penang, Massaman and red curry, but my favorite is green curry chicken, so I ordered that. It was everything I hoped for... a large, ceramic bowl of goodness with a plate of jasmine rice on the side. I don't pour the curry over the rice. Instead I add spoonfuls of rice into the bowl as I eat. And it is amazing. The chicken is thinly sliced. They add a couple of pieces of fresh jalapeño to the bowl (easy to remove if you don't want it) and they also add eggplant. That is exactly how I like it! The service was great here. They checked on us regularly. They kept our iced tea filled. They were transparent and gracious. When we ordered the wings, they explained that it would take longer for those to come out. The jasmine rice, sticky rice and the complementary cabbage soup were all absolutely top notch, too. Be warned... Thai food is wonderfully spicy. But they will make any dish milder for you if you request it (and even hotter if you ask for "Thai spicy"). Come check this place out, 'y'all! :-) read more

Came here during a weekend trip to Hyatt Lost Pines. All ressies at their restaurants were booked out for the night, and so we came 10min down the road to here. My fave part was the sticky rice - they are served in these super adorable cylindrical vessels. We got the BBQ pork skewers app to start, and they were delish. Super flavorful. Pad Thai with duck followed, and they were really good about taking peanut products out (allergy). We also got a chicken curry soup bowl that was fantastic. The ambiance super casual. Def a hidden gem. I did not like how they had 2 large TV screens on either side of the restaurant, as I felt it detracted from the ambiance. Then she kinda huffed around and sat me at a table and served it dine in. It was pretty decent Thai food, but the weird attitude was uncalled for. Restaurant seemed kinda disorganized and run down, a little worried on the cleanliness but maybe that's the theme they are going for. Never would I have expected when moving to Bastrop that I would find a true Thai restaurant! Nestled off 71, near Austin, you will find what looks like a little Thai house. Once inside, you can smell the flavors cooking and your mouth starts watering. The place is cute. Little dated, but, clean and the staff is very friendly. They are more than happy to explain the dishes to you and the spice level. The menu is vast and there are so many choices from salads to curry to soups, and main dishes. The meal starts with cabbage soup that is tasty and great to have while browsing the menu. I chose the Pad Gro Prow with the ground chicken. the flavors, the spices were perfect! Just a hint of spice to rev up the taste buds. With plenty of rice, you get a full meal and in my case, some to take home. With a price point that is an affordable bite out! The best boat noodles I've had outside of Thailand! I am Thai, lived in Thailand for a bit, had all the noodle joints in LA. This was hands down the best. Moo ping sauce was on point! OMG this gem is in Del Valle/Garfield super close to the airport and I can't believe we are just now discovering it! It is locally owned and has a family feel. The service is personable, intentional, attentive, and warm! My family ate here yesterday and decided to come back today to try more dishes! We were not disappointed either visit. They will see us again. EVERYTHING was seasoned to absolute perfection! We are the fried spring rolls before I remembered to snap photos. Whether you get the rice or curry, your taste buds will have a party. I can't say enough about the food. The actual restaurant is cute and quaint inside. You seat yourself. My husband and I were heading home from a road trip and wanted to grab dinner before we got home. I had been craving Thai food so we decided to see what was near Austin. I stumbled on Little Thailand and decided to give them a shot. They are located right off of 71. You can not see it from the highway so I think it would be helpful to maybe put a sign up. I would have not known about this place it wasn't for yelp. Upon entering and sitting down we were handed a complimentary bowl of cabbage. It had great flavor and was delicious. We ordered spring rolls to share. They come with crab meat, tofu, or shrimp. We opted for shrimp. It was very tasty. For our meals I got the green seafood curry and my husband got red duck curry. My husband loved his meal and thought it might be the best thai food he has had in the Austin metro area. My green curry was good. I was able to add additional spices to it thankful as I had asked for thai spicy and it was not thai spicy. Note, I have been to Thailand before and also taken a traditional Thai cooking class while there. Anyway, the flavor was good and I would definitely come back in the future. This place is BYOB. The beef stick was amazing cooked to perfection Thai tea perfect balance on cream and sugar Pad Thai chicken one of the best pad Thai I have had he cooks with thin noodles and tamarind was on point with the soreness to the sweetness Chicken masaman a few thai restaurants only does beef I'm glad this place does chicken excellent Owner/chef came out to greet us and informed us he also moved from Las Vegas about 20 yrs ago, kind of nice to talk about the restaurants back home. Let me start out and say the food was delicious. I always get at least the Pad Thai whenever I visit a Thai restaurant for the first time. I need to know how well they can do the proverbial entrée most people go to. It was very good, very low sweetness (which seems to be what some places do often, but not to my liking), but lots of flavors from the tamarind sauce and a higher presence of garlic, shrimp paste, and fish sauce. It comes with a lime and chopped peanuts separately served. I also ordered the Spicy Fried Rice which is made with something that uses jasmine broken rice and cooked with egg The flavors were very good, garlicky (get the trend?), and has the presence of Thai basil, onion and spicy sauce based in serrano peppers. The inside of the restaurant has low ceilings and is kind of basic in décor. It's clean and it seems like most people order take out as I was there during prime time dinner hours and everyone, including me, was not eating there. What is interesting about them is they are tucked away off from the strip centers and whatnot. You won't see them from the highway so it seems to me people have intention to be there and their Yelp rating is the beacon. They are technically in Del Valle, but all you have to do is locate the old Garfield water tower to find them right nearby. read more

This place was ok! I think their pad thai was the best dish. The restaurant is kinda in the middle of no where and has limited parking - but it felt cozy and authentic! When you first get seated they bring you a complimentary cabbage soup which was really flavorful and fresh tasting :-). We ordered the papaya salad, moo ping, pad thai, and pad kra prao with chicken. Everything was pretty good but I think you can find the same quality thai food at other restaurants in Austin. Quality of food , cooking skills and the menu choices has gone downhill. I am guessing that it must be a different Chef, because this place was top notch Authentic Thai food up until a while back. My husband and I frequently visit this restaurant every other month! We love their pad Thai with shrimp and their beef salad! We do request for each dish to be prepared as mild. My spice tolerance is good but my husband is not able to enjoy it as much if it is too spicy. They can adjust it but make sure you specify this ahead of time. The service is great and the owners really take pride in their dishes that they serve. The ambiance is cozy and casual. A wonderful place to bring friends and family to try authentic Thai food. Precious Thai gem hidden in Del Vale, about 25 mins south east of Austin. The menu is extensive and has options for a wide variety of your cravings. My faves are: --Crispy Thai omelette with pork --Crab fried dumplings (they look more like flat egg rolls) --Pork larb (similar to an American tuna salad, served chilled with spices and sticky rice) --Boat noodles (broth has a strong kick with a bit of sourness to it) There is an outdoor dining area with small picnic tables. My oh my the food here is FANTASTIC! VERY authentic, flavors are spot on and on par with some of the best I ate in Thailand. It's not super fancy/elevated food, the way some of the other good thai restaurants in town are, but it's real delicious just super well balanced food. All the food I got was great (and all the food we didn't manage to order this time around also looked great). The soft shell crab was an off-menu dish that I asked about and they offered multiple ways that it could be cooked. I chose thai style, which came out to be a kind of yellow curry and was really great! Every dish we ordered had different balance of flavors. I was most delighted by the crab fried rice because that crab flavor was so fragrant, and the the fish sauce based dip was so perfect with it. I don't normally care for fried rice but this was wonderful. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Just note that the outdoor will get you a view of the big ole 71 (seems like at some point, outdoor seating might have been inside their little fencing, so perhaps this is a COVID distancing measure). The girl who helped me did not seem friendly - she was downright rude to another customer.
