I got takeout from Chokdee, Pad Kee Mow, Lo Mein, and Pineapple Fried Rice. For the prices, the portions are insanely low. Atleast fill the small takeout containers, I get maybe skimping on the protein, but the noodles?... I had to take a picture because it looked like someone ate out of my container before giving it to me. Food was okay. Lo Mein and Pad Kee Mow tasted like stale noodles. The service is OK, a couple things that stood out right away. When you walk into the establishment at the front door hangs open because I guess it's broken. It's like come on man fix your door. Take some pride in a restaurant and fix your door. First thing I do is use the restroom. There's no soap in the restroom. It's like who's running this place. Food: the food was all right. I think the appetizers were pretty good. The cheese rolls were OK. The chicken today was kind of weird. It was like very different like no texture or something like it wasn't cooked all the way very spongy if that makes sense. The Panang curry was watered down. I've never had a hair dish like that. Curry typically is thick. This was like water. It wasn't bad. It was just very middle of the road. I might give them one more try and try and try something else but the dish I got today along with the appetizer for mediocre at best. The customer service was OK. Chokdee did good. Everything was cooked fresh for me , you can tell when a restaurant precooks the protein and just tosses it into a stir fry , that was not the case here . Service was a bit off . Offering an update on my review, my last one was in 2022. Still the same solid place for Thai cuisine. Hubs and I keep coming here. It's a pretty accessible spot if the traffic isn't too bad. The service is still quick and friendly. You can tell they make a ton of money on to go orders. People were coming in and out the whole time we ate here last. We have never brought the food back home, but it seems to be the most popular way to eat Chokdee. There's plenty of seating and it's all keep beautifully clean. Husband likes ordering the chicken, while I, of course, prefer to get my meals with tofu. It's all been delicious and hubs and I will definitely be back. There's some seating outside if that's what you prefer, I don't know if they allow pets out there or not. read more

I really wanted to try the Pho place next door, but at 7:00 PM they were closed so I came here instead. From the outside, the restaurant looked closed and was boarded up, but they had this large banner that read, "Due to construction, we are opened". Luckily, there was a side door. Immediately when I walked in, there was a line. A few people dining in. I grabbed a small table next to the door. It took a WHILE for the sole server to reach me. There was about 10 tables in the main dining room. I popped in my earphones and put on some anime to watch on my phone. When the server finally came, I ordered the coconut milk soup with steamed rice and some tofu spring rolls for an appetizer. Then I waited, for another 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The main dish and the spring rolls came out at the same time. The server forgot my rice. I reminded her of the rice. Now the food was delicious: flavorful, tasty, and fulfilling. The soup had an ample amount of vegetables and the broth was savory with a hint of sweetness from the coconut based. It paired well with the steamed rice. The spring rolls were great with the peanut dipping sauce. I wished the appetizer could arrive prior to the meal. My water was never refilled not once even though it was empty. I relied on the soup as a drink. Then when it came to pay, it took years as it felt like for the server to come. Thankfully, she eventually came. I paid with tip. The tip was for the chef/cook because the food was fire! It is very seldom I'm in Manor, but if I ever come through again, I'll order to go from this restaurant. We didn't like the black rice pudding as it was so overly sweet swimming in too sweet sauce. Fresh rolls were great and came with hot (temperature) peanut sauce. We went here for Thursday lunch and got the soup of the day which was delicious! My mother got the pad Thai with extra spice and I got the pad see ew with extra spice, and they were both tasty. I also ordered a Thai coffee, but it was a little too sweet with not enough coffee flavor for my taste. Service was quick and good! We'll definitely be back for our next Thai craving. read more

A really nice authentic treat in area that only seems to have fast food options. We found the Prad Cashew to be heavenly. The soup had a nice base and the curry was superb. Do pay attention to spice level notes on the menu. Rice comes with most entrees. Excellent value. Lots of customers arranged take out which seemed to be a testament to their quality. Visited for a weekday lunch. They have cheap lunch specials, but they don't include any other additional items lime tea, appetizers, or dessert. It was about half full when we came in around noon. I ordered the pad cashew with chicken. It was good for the most part, but there wasn't a lot of chicken. Also the brown rice was fresh, as was the vegetables. Just wish there was more chicken. Our waitress were nice, and the place was clean and relatively quiet. There's a ton of indoor seating, but no outdoor seating. Plenty of free parking! read more

Some of my favorite Yelpers recommended this place which is why we came. I read through many of the post Covid reviews, and most people are happy with the food, but not everyone. One thing I also noticed is that it seems the business owner comments on almost every review. We arrived just before 5 o'clock on Tuesday and we were the first patrons. They do have an extensive menu and even a lunch menu that goes until 3 PM M-F. After looking at the drink menu, we decided on two glasses of water. They do have some beverages, but they do not have anything alcoholic like beer, wine, or sake. Hate to say it, but that cost half a star. We started with the lettuce wraps which was good, except that the lettuce was not quite mature and difficult to peel apart thus creating a mess. I had the red snapper which consisted of 7-8 small cubes of battered fish stirfried with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. To be honest, I would've preferred a fillet instead of cubes. I enjoyed the spiciness of the dish, but the fish seemed a little dry. It's at this point that a cold Pilsner would've been a source of welcome relief. This is the second time I tried Chokdee and both not impressed. Food 2/5- pad Thai 2/5- noodles was cooked perfectly, shrimp was deveined, chicken over cooked. The taste is more in the salty side I was looking for the tamarind taste which I did not get Thai Beef Salad 1/5- did not like it! More on the salty side. Im not sure why they would cook the red onion usually Thai beef salad has raw red onions. I did not get that sour taste at all Coconut shrimp 4/5- husband said it was good cooked perfectly and had a crunch Service 5/5 I really wanted to like Chokdee in Manor but got disappointed. There aren't many good dining options in Manor but Chokdee Thai Cuisine is one of them. My favorite dishes are the pad Thai noodles (avoid this if you have a peanut allergy), pad se-ew with flat rice noodles, egg, and Chinese broccoli, and tom kha soup, a coconut-based soup with lemongrass and kaffir-lime leaves to add citrus and brightness. I recently tried their taro smoothie. Mildly sweet, creamy and delicious! I'll be getting it again during the hot summer months. read more

My wife and I's first time here. Our food was delicious! I had an iced Thai tea to start with--great size and taste. As an appetizer we ordered the dumplings, which were very good, although we wish they were a little bigger. For our entrees we ordered the Pad Thai and the Pad Se Ew--we're definitely not experts, but both plates had good portions on them and the quality of the food was great!! To end our meal we ordered the sweet rice with mango--highly recommend!! We were impressed by both the food and space--it's a place we've always passed off of 290 and didn't think much of, but coming and having such an amazing dining experience AND seeing the constant flow of people coming into the restaurant really solidified this place as a normal spot we'll be coming to. Good location for a drive out of Austin back to Houston. Quickly stopped here for some Thai food. Service was at a turtles speed so it made the stop longer than anticipated. Since we wanted to make good time to get back to Houston, I guess I'm bias on my review. The food was spicy which was good, but we needed some more water and it took forever for the staff to bring out more water and the check. They seem very unmotivated and efficiency was not a priority. This food group is all new to the wife and I'm excited she is trying something new. We started with egg rolls and satay which were both very good...love the crispness of the rolls and chicken satay was tender with a great peanut sauce. Wife had the combination soup with no vegetables...she loved the broth and the noodles..Beef was a bit on the tuff side but over all she liked it...I went with the Kra Pow Seafood with was very well cooked and had a great spicy kick. Over the past several decades, Thai food has emerged to have a huge presence in America, perhaps displacing the omnipresent Chinese restaurants of my youth as a dominant Asian cuisine. Manor is no exception and has its own local offering in the form of Chokdee Thai Cuisine. Let's cut to the chase: the food here is good. Good enough IMHO to stand up as a competitor in my favorite food towns such as Chicago and San Francisco. The menu is wide-ranging but unsurprising in its scope of American Thai favorites and anyone who enjoys Thai will likely find their wished-for curry or soup or salad. Personally I enjoy chicken pad Thai, pad woon sen (a limey salad of glassy bean thread noodles and veggies) and the creamy yet spicy emerald curry. In fact, the curries are especially good; I've yet to get a "broken" sauce. My only issue with Chokdee is that the spice level is inconsistent and leans a bit heavy handed at times. As with many Thai restaurants, you can order entrees with a spice level on a five-point scale, from mild to very spicy. Even when I order at a level one (usually the most congenial setting for my family) it sometimes comes out at a three or even a four. For me, that's just too much spice that overwhelms the other delicate flavors of the dish. Also, sometimes the proteins are a bit overcooked which makes the texture unpleasant. That aside, most of the time my orders come out the way they should. I would just like a little more reliability on spice. Carryout service is always timely here and the prices are on par for the metro Austin area. For me this is a safe choice for a good Thai meal. Recommended. read more

We recently moved to the area from North Austin and were hopeful to have Thai food nearby. Our experience had some highlights but a few misses as well. For starters, their Tom Kha was really good. It was rich and flavorful, sour and coconutty, just perfect for a cold winter evening. I also really enjoyed the Massaman curry, and though not the best I've had, it's a dish I would order again. The noodle dishes were not as enjoyable. Pad thai was fine, other than being a little dry. The pad see-ew, which is my favorite Thai dish, was not very good. The noodles were pale and bland, and just didn't look very appealing. The only hint of flavor I tasted was fish sauce, which isn't exactly how I expect the dish to taste. I would come back for the soup and curry, but might need to try some of their other noodle dishes. read more

Chokdee fried rice 5/5 It was a lovely mix of spiciness with a little bit of sweetness. I loved that it wasn't too greasy. Thai Tea 5/5 This behemoth of a beverage was classically delicious Thai tea. Consider splitting it! Vegetarian egg rolls 4/5 Tasty but too greasy for my taste. I especially appreciated that the sweet and sour sauce isn't neon orange like I see so often. Value 5/5 Our whole bill (the three items above) came to $23 and change. Ambiance 2/5 The inside is very large and echo-y which means you can really hear every one else's conversation. The empty tables and sparse decor gives a bit of a cafeteria vibe. This is why I couldn't give 5 stars. All in all, solid food and I will be returning but likely for takeout. read more

Beware- if ordering online and you choose mildly spicy- the option above not spicy on chownow- it will be intensely spicy. I enjoy spice, but not having my mouth burning all meal. We have been going to Chokdee for 6 years and I have never been disappointed in the food. Today I was surprised in a bad way that the mildly spicy was very hot. What made this an experience that truly disappointed was that I called to let them know I think something got lost between the ordering app and the kitchen- I was basically dismissed by the owner and told they use fresh chilis which are spicier than other places use, that he watched how little was put into our food and what we got couldn't have been more than half a star. Ending with other customers love their spice and to have a good weekend. Mind you- I have ordered these dishes before at the restaurant and they weren't not so hot. I think this option was misrepresented on chownow and wish we had gone to dine in. Sadly after how dismissed I feel, I will think twice before going again. read more

The Lemongrass Combo was good as well, my children stole that from me The fried tilapia felt like a rock so I didn't taste it;but the WASband loved it!!! I'll give the snapper a shot. An alternative take on American Thai cuisine. The owners are as Thai as you can get. You have the requisite pictures of the King and Queen in full military uniform when they were young. You have multiple pictures of their senior Buddhist monk. That monk must be at least 120 years old. He is certainly full of profound wisdom on the secrets of longevity. He may be full of profound wisdom on the secrets of birth, death and reincarnation too. There are Thai dishes on the menu you rarely see in other American Thai restaurants. They downplay the traditional red/yellow/green curry although they have that if you insist. There are a lot of Vietnamese style noodle soups with a clear broth. Those are as Thai as you can get but are not served so much over here. What is their adaptation to American tastes? They tone down the heat to practically nothing. This is not necessarily a bad idea. Old people and people recovering from this or from that are likely to eat mild in Thailand. Children sometimes eat mild in Thailand. (Other kids are pure fire eaters.) So there is nothing inauthentic about eating mild. You could ask for them to heat things up ... But added in bird peppers aren't going to have the same depth of flavor as You would have gotten if the heat had been cooked into the dish from the very beginning. Overall, I like the place. If you are looking to have the top of your head blown off with pure fire ... (and hey sometimes that is what you are really looking for) either go to a Thai place that serves fire - or make special arrangements before you come.
