I was so happy to see Katie's tiny Thai food truck appear last week in Elgin! We have been twice already and will surely be regulars. The prices are very reasonable for the great quality. Don't be afraid to ask Katie to spice it up, too! She makes everything from scratch every day. So far we've tried the eggrolls, potstickers w/ spicy red curry, Chicken fried rice w/ basil (kao pad kapow), Spicy Ginger Chicken (Gai pad king), Neua Yum Nam Tok (waterfall), Chicken pad thai and the Drunken Noodle. The Pad Thai lacked something the first go around so I asked her to not hold back on the flavor the second time and it was GREAT! The sirloin "Waterfall" was full of flavor and had just the right amount of mint. The Drunken Noodle is very spicy and the Ginger Chicken was also a favorite. Katie let me sample a few of her homemade drinks, too. The lychee was sweet and delicious! I look forward to her soups this winter and to the daily specials she would like to start trying. As far as food in Elgin goes, this is certainly one of your very best bets!

OMG! How have I not found this place before now! This is some of the best Thai food we have had since we traveled to Thailand. I had the Ka Prow and my husband had the Pineapple chicken curry. We got it spicy and be warned...it's Thai Spicy! This is exactly how it would be served in Thailand and we loved it, but if you aren't not used to Thai spicy go mild and build up. Very authentic, and so close to home we will be good friends! Looking forward to a long delicious relationship!

    Yum yummy.

The food is fantastic! I am usually picky about my Thai food but this place is a winner! The lady is the sweetest too and gave us free potsticks samplers. I will be visiting again that's for sure. Go try it out. You won't regret it. She only has 1 table set outside right now so hopefully it will grow in the future. We just grabbed our food and took home since it was a bit chilly out.

Is this business still in business? I went to the business address but could not locate it. I called the business phone number twice and no one picked up during business hours.

Is she still in biz or back in biz? Looks fabulous.

Tried DA's Thai Cuisine for pickup and had a little bit of a mixed experience…read more First things first -- the place itself is nice, clean, and the staff is personable. No complaints there. Ordering and pickup were smooth. Now let's talk food. The deep-fried egg rolls (stuffed with carrots, cabbage, and clear bean noodles, served with sweet and sour sauce) were really good. Crispy, hot, and flavorful. Solid start. The steamed dumplings? Now those were the star of the show. Made with pork, shrimp, crab meat, green onions, and carrots -- and served with their special sauce. That sauce paired perfectly with the dumplings. Balanced, flavorful, and just worked. Out of everything we ordered, this was the clear home run. I also ordered what I believed to be the Thai papaya salad. From what I can tell comparing ingredients, I did receive the Thai-style version (shredded papaya, garlic, fish sauce, tomatoes, lime juice, palm sugar, topped with peanuts). Unfortunately, I was not impressed. I've had papaya salad at other Thai spots where the peanuts are roasted and really incorporated into the dish. Here, it felt like the peanuts were just tossed in at the end. The overall flavor just didn't come together, and I wouldn't order that again. My husband had the Thai fried rice (his second time ordering it), and he thoroughly enjoys it -- so that's a win on his side. For me, out of the egg rolls, papaya salad, and steamed dumplings -- the dumplings were the only real standout. Would I go back? Probably not. But that's just my experience -- don't let me be the deciding factor. Give it a try and see what hits for you.

But today I went with the Chef's special "Spaghetti Kee Mao". She was a spicy one, but oh so good! Can't say I ever had a bad dish here. Service has always been solid and friendly. The restaurant is well situated, clean and not overly noisy. This is one restaurant I hope to visit for years to come. Thank you Thai Spoon!!! They also have in house ice cream (mango, coconut and Thai tea). We tried coconut and mango which were superb. We will try the Thai tea next. Also able to order to go incase you are full as servings are quite large. We did make a reservation to accommodate an elderly in-law. They kept us a booth open despite us running a tad behind and some other customers try to take it. Very grateful!!

The drunken noodles were good however the spice level was a little off from what I expected. The crab rangoons were great I loved the texture of the wrapper and flavor of the filling! Mango sticky rice was on point! Will definitely be back soon!

I came here on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and I was intrigued before I even sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully designed waiting area showcasing the restaurant's many awards and accolades. It immediately sets the tone that you're in for something special. We came with one goal: try as many things as possible. Saturdays are perfect for that because they offer dim sum. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service. It's one of those restaurants that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. Highly recommend!

Solid spot for Thai!…read more Everything was great -- textures and flavors on point. Loved that they had a selection of crispy pork belly dishes. Got the #48 (crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli). It was tasty as take-out and I'm sure it's even better on the spot. Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly. Also tried the crispy wings which were yummy as well. Finally, my husband's Pad Thai was excellent (perfectly flavored, with nicely crisped tofu). Noticed a lot of vegetarian options here, if that's your thing. Definitely recommend!

The food comes with some hot pepper powder, pickled jalapeños, and sambal sauce on the side if you ask for hot sauce. If you have a higher spice tolerance, you can ask for fresh Thai chili on the side instead! Our usual order is usually the pad Thai and garlic crispy pork with cilantro sauce! The crispy pork is crispy, but also soft once you hit the meat. It is a good choice for those who don't like only crispy skin, or only meat. It's the best of both worlds. The pad Thai is nicely moist without being too soggy. It's sticky at most. Once you mix it with the bean sprouts, it comes out perfect. I also recommend their Thai tea! I get one every time and it isn't overly creamy. The music is pretty loud if there aren't a lot of people in the restaurant, but it's not too bad. The service is always amazing since I believe the owners are always at the restaurant.
