Came here yesterday after Sunday mass for lunch. SERVICE - You walk in and order, get your number, and they bring you the food. Shailyn was the cashier and she was very nice! FOOD Salad Bar - There was an optional salad bar if you wanted to do that. You pay for a bowl and then you could fill it up with whatever you like. My mother in law did this and it looked like a great selection. Ranchero Wrap - This was very small. The chicken tasted like frozen chicken that they just microwaved. It was also very salty. BBQ Brisket Sandwich - I did not try the sandwich but I did taste the meat. It was overly salty as well. Free Ice Cream - This was the best part about lunch. The soft serve was creamy! Overall, this would not be a place we would return to the next time we are in town. Nice concept for sandwiches, salad bar, etc. I guess "a healthier option" but the food was not great. We really enjoyed our meals at Jason's Deli. We are visiting in own and my nephew recommended this place. He was right. It was delicious. Jason's Deli has a cafeteria look and style to it. You order at the counter and they will provide you with an order number. Drinks are towards the back of the restaurant. Finding a table was easy and there were plenty of tables available. We ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich and bow tie chicken fettuccine Alfredo, sweet potato, vegetarian wrap. Everything was fresh and delicious. Not nearly as good as it used to be, I ordered a baked potato and ask them to make sure there was butter on it since it is supposed to come with it. it usually doesn't have butter, they charged and extra $.50 for something that is supposed to be there. I asked for a bowl of chicken rice soup and they gave me a cup, glad it was just a cup, it was terrible, it used to be thick and creamy, today it was watered down and mostly water. This used to be my favorite place to eat, but as the prices go up, food quality and quantity go down, way down. I'm really disappointed. And before I became lactose intolerant I tried their pizza and it was delicious and I just loved it so much and their ice cream is so good. Normally when you see a restaurant that is manned by young people and is also completely dead you can assume you are probably going to get sub par service. Not so here! These kids were so nice and welcoming and the place is CLEAN. Even the employees that are on break in the corner are being quiet and respectful and not goofing off or anything like I would have been doing back in my hospitality working days. I'm impressed! This place is a covid nut house! Over the top. They do NOT want you to dine -in. They have every other table blocked off which is fine but most of the available tables were dirty! We waited ten minutes to find someone to ask for a clean table and the manager TOLD us to sit at a dirty table!! They never came and cleaned it and got upset at us for putting the dirty dishes from someone else on the table next to us! Asking for napkins so we can at least wipe our own table we were still ignored. The food was just thrown together and not all that great. They were not even busy!! A very good example of a Jason's Deli. Nothing terribly special, but this locations does seem to be more accurate with our orders and the staff is friendlier than other locations we've visited. Like most Jason's Delis, the food is pretty good, if rather prepackaged tasting, and the interior is clean and inviting. Also like most, my wife and daughters like it more than most other choices available in the area. Meaning, they would rather eat here than anywhere I would like to eat. So yes, we frequent this establishment rather often. I will admit, they make better chicken salad than I do, according to my family. They also make a decent Ruben sandwich. The salad bar is also rather good and extensive. As for the rest, I can make it at home. It is a better choice than MsDonalds, so there you have it. read more

We recently stopped here for dinner while driving through Abilene. It's not far off of I20 so it convenient getting to. When we went in, there was only 1 person in line and the place was empty, which was refreshing since my neighborhood Jason's in Frisco, TX is always packed! The gentleman who took our order was super friendly. I ordered the caprese sandwich and a cup of broccoli soup. It was my first time trying the caprese sandwich here and it'll be my last. They put soooo much pesto in it, it was not good. Tons of pesto, very little anything else. The broccoli soup is something I always have, but on this occasion, it looked thick, chunky and unappetizing. The restaurant itself was clean and nice. While I do appreciate having a nice place to stop for a meal right off the freeway, I wish the food was as good as everything else. read more

The soups here were not very good. I got a broccoli and cheese and there was way too much cheese and my friend got a tomato basil soup and it just tasted like canned tomato soup. The sandwiches seemed to be alright though so I wouldn't recommend if you want soup. read more

Original post; My first opportunity to experience Jason's Deli was back in 2015 at this location in Abilene, since that time this restaurant has become one of my all time favorites! I am going to preface my review by saying that my heart goes out to all of us who are forced to deal with an unprecedented pandemic that has brought our amazing country to its knees. I applaud us all for our faith and strength to march forward to find some kind of normal in this time of uncertainty. My team and I have been out there in major hotspots since the beginning of 2020 as we have been deemed mission critical/essential workers. We have spent many lonely months away from our loved ones and family as we practice social distancing as many of us are our families sole source of income. Last night I ordered 2 salads and 1 cup of soup at 6pm and was notified that my order would be ready for pickup at 614 pm. I showed up at 615 pm and was notified after a mad scramble to find my order that there were 3 orders ahead of me. I asked why the order pick up time wasn't updated and she told me that the system does not update orders....ok. I sat and noticed the restaurant was very slow and that there was 3 tables seated and eating. A person had walked in and placed a go order as we waited and received her order ahead od us. Another family walked in for dine in. At 640 pm I asked when my order would be filled and I was informed that it normally takes 20-25 minutes to fill, good to know and I asked if I was supposed to assume this... The manager finally come out at 645 pm to explain that they had 1 person working the salad bar. I replied that I understood. I asked about the 614 pm pick up time and the advice to assume 20-25 minutes regardless of the time noted for pick up, 3 families that had been served and were eating prior to us walking in, and the person who placed the order while we were sitting there and was served before us. She said she wasn't going to charge me for the cup of soup and said she would make the salads herself. The point was an hour of my my time was worth more than sitting in front of the cash register for 45 minutes after my notification of pick up time to avoid social interaction for a free cup of soup, I would rather pay to help keep the local establishments in business. I still love this establishment but last night left a sour taste in my mouth and suggest placing a disclaimer on your web orders to discard the pick up time. read more

Great service. Someone, who I assume was the manager, greeted us upon entering. He helped us put our baby carrier in a high chair, and had someone clean off a larger table for us. We stopped here on the way back to the DFW area. We regularly eat at the Jason's Deli in McKinney. The reason for the low score was the poor condition of the salad bar. It was a mess! The kale quinoa salad had about one scoop left at the bottom. There were about 2 or 3 hard boiled eggs. Spilled bits and pieces were all over. The salad bar was never cleaned up or refilled the entire time we were there. There seemed to be one young employee zipping around bussing tables, sweeping, and delivering food while about 5 other employees appeared on and off. This is in huge contrast to the Jason's Deli in McKinney where the employees are constantly refilling and cleaning up the salad bar area. Yummy food!! Menu points out good vegetarian options with a (V) and a few gluten free (GF) but no vegan options. I feel that having vegan options is just as important as having vegetarian options.
