When my beloved Whole Foods isn't what I'm craving, J Dawgs is where I take my appetite for lunch. They take their sandwiches and wraps to a whole new creative level by throwing the extra flavor of avocado and salsa into the mix. I don't feel like my veggie only crowd and I are an after thought at Jason's. If anything it was made with us in mind! I have not yet tried their pizza, but it's becoming pretty desperate that I indulge one of these days. The lines are generally pretty long, but they move reaaaally quick. Delivery starts an order of $25 I believe with a charge of about $7 so keep that in mind. If you're nearby with at least 30 minutes for lunch, this the choice for you. I love Jason's Deli. Love it. So the food is not what I am here to review because it's not something that makes this location stand out from the others. This location has the worst possible ordering system. The lines for the register are always confusing and difficult for people. They offer no room to form an actual line, so there is always cutting and butting and general chaos. The full menu is not posted so that makes newcomers especially slow. If you know what you want, you can try the to-go line, but a few times I try I've gotten ignored. Even when I phone in my order specifically to avoid the line, it seems like the employees don't understand it. Please, please add some kind of signage or ropes or something to clarify the ordering line because it's the only thing keeping me from visiting more often. FREE soft serve, yes folks, FREE!! :) I love love love Jason's Deli. I love it even more that I can get half a sandwich and eat their yummy salad bar for a buck more. I have been there three times in the last few weeks and have gotten the same thing because it's so yummy. One thing that I miss since I have dropped red meat are reubens. They have turkey reubens and they are awesome!! Not to mention it's on the lighter side menu. A whole turkey reuben sandwich is 13 grams of fat, it's scary to think how fatty the other items are that are not on the lighter menu, yikes!! Anyway, I order it with no cheese and it's still quite delicious. The salad bar is fantabulous. It's always clean, I hate how places like Flat Top has different foods in different containers. They have a great assortment, I love how they give you whole eggs instead of cut up mush like at Sweet Tomatoes. I love their honey mustard dressing. Still watch out, it says low fat, but it still is 9 grams of fat for 4 tablespoons. The seating area is huge and clean and their staff brings out your food to you. If you guys are like me and wanted something else other than Jimmy Johns, Subway, Panera, Potbellys, then check this place out!! The menu is huge and in my opinion caters to everyone who have certain food allergies, vegetarians, and are carb conscious. When you come in, pick up a menu and take your time. The menu can be overwhelming. They have everything from pasta, to sandwiches, to salads, you name it, they probably have it. I chose the half soup and half sandwich combo. My sandwich of choice: the New York Yankee which was a pile of pastrami and corned beef, swiss cheese, mustard on rye. My soup of choice was the chicken pot pie. So comforting. Pieces of chicken with peas, carrots and topped with a pillow like crust. I probably could've slept on that pillowey goodness. And they give you a side of ruffled potato chips. They have also their own electrolyte drink called pomegranate blueberry. I loved it but my husband says otherwise. He said it reminded him of cough medicine. Clean place and we kept! Had a Club Royale at Jason's. Toaste croissant with smoked turkey breast, ham, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, honey mustard. That's the exact description from the menu and that's exactly what I got. Since I've never been to a Jason's I had no idea what to expect. You order, they give you a number and you sit. Then they find your number and bring you your food. It seems like a lot of places are adapting this concept. The place was pretty packed for lunch so it was kind of hard to find some seating. They also have a salad buffet and it looked pretty good, but ofcourse I opted for the fattier choice. ;) Oh and lets not forget the free (well they claim it is, but lets be honest, it's included in the price) self serve ice cream! Wow.. I came here at 3 PM on a weekday expecting crickets, but it was bustling! No matter what time of day or night you come, expect a little bit of a wait. However, I was ordering takeout and they were speedy taking orders. I was getting nervous that I wouldn't make it back to work in time, but I did, even with the long line. The only time I'd ever had Jason's was through catering at work, so I wasn't sure how different it'd be going in and ordering. Both my friend and I agreed that it's great lunch food and we'd come back in a heartbeat. I went with the Spicy seafood gumbo and a quarter ham and salami muffaletta sandwich. The gumbo wasn't necessarily traditional gumbo, but it was still really flavorful with lots of shrimp in it. I absolutely loved the muffaletta sandwich too. I had called a few weeks ago asking about the salad bar and was a little disappointed. You basically only get lettuce and toppings on the bar. There's no soup and no proteins or meats. You have to pay extra for any of that. I'm used to salad bars having more of a selection, so I'm a little disappointed by that. read more

I've been to other locations of Jason's deli and have had no problems. But every time my office orders from them someone seems to get sick. We've eaten there 4 times over the last 6 months and each time we've had a coworker get food poisoning I really want to like this place as they have healthy gluten free options but something is not working there. Twice it was the salad bar, another time it was the shrimp and the last time it was a turkey sandwich. We are no longer going to order from them. Since I discovered Jason's Deli, I get lunch here at least once a week. I even ordered catering for a business lunch I hosted. For both, my orders are always perfectly filled, the food delicious, and the service prompt and friendly. I really like the plain jane baked potato (the lighter version) and have been known to get the rueben as well (but not for the same meal!) It can get really busy between 12-1, so I try to order online and go pick it up- then I don't have to wait in the long line that can stretch out the door (plus you get dining points for online ordering!) Awesome healthy fast food option! Jason's offers some organics, lots of veggies, and overall great service. And the best salad bar I've seen! For $8, you get unlimited salad bar - and this salad bar offers a wide array of vegetables and fruit, some cheeses, prepared salads,etc. I judge a salad bar by how many choices of vegetables they offer - let's face it, the meat and prepared salad offerings are not that healthy. But this salad bar rocks! There's a protective shield over the salad bar to eliminate some breathing and coughing, etc. My husband got a half order of the veggie muffaletta (a "veggelata or something like that), and it was gigantic - enough for 2 meals. Really good food, but subpar service. I ordered the organic veggie soup, a side of vegetables, and I made my own turkey (oven roasted)sandwich, with lettuce, tomato, and sauteed onions (on multi grain). The food was excellent... I didn't really understand why my order came out about 10 mins after my brother's order, who ordered about 30 seconds before me. I really like how they have a salad bar available, too. I wanted to give Jason's a 5, but the sandwich wasn't over the top amazing. I'll most likely order Roast Beef or smoked turkey next time, and I assume it will be better, along with the service. There are three things to consider at this Jason's Deli location: the food, the service, and the fact that it's located next to a giant fitness hub. A friend and I stopped off for sammies and despite the sometimes disorderly ordering, amid people waiting for their orders, we knew it would be good. For me, it was the Zucchini Grillini which I love: not only because it's got great flavors and is packed with veggies but because of the name. Say that 3 times. My friend opted for the Reuben, which was larger than a giant brick, packed to the gills, and accompanied by a garlic dill, and a much needed breath mint. We both enjoyed the food: they have high turnover and when I have been there everything has been tasty and fresh. Jason's makes it a point, as well, to let you know the why, what, and who of what you are eating too, so you can make informed choices. So, whether you are meat free, gluten free, or needing to be allergy free, it does work. As to the fitness spot next door, occasionally you opt out of the free ice cream ... but only occasionally. read more

A HUGE salad bar, an assortment of freshly brewed iced-tea/hot tea, FREE ice-cream and a full menu filled with yummy sandwiches...what's not to love? My only complaint....the menu had so many different choices, I didn't know what to order...it was very overwhelming...but I settled on a yummy chicken sandwich. Although I was satisfied with it, next time I'm going for something more on the wild side. Jason's Deli rocks. I go to this location for lunch a few times a month (since it's near my work), and I also visit the Freedom Drive restaurant on occasion. The food is always really good and pretty consistent. They have a large selection of tasty menu items, and everything always tastes really fresh. The company prides itself on making "healthier" choices about what ingredients they use in their food, so you can feel pretty good about eating here. The salad bar always looks well-stocked with lots of fresh items, and I am personally a huge fan of the Manager's Special (soup and sandwich deal). The employees are usually very friendly, and I have never received poor service. Oh, and one of the best things about Jason's is that everyone gets FREE (!!!) ice cream from their soft-serve machine! WoW- what a great fast food alternative! Great new concept! My husband stopped here today and got a few things for us to try. I had the broccoli soup which was wonderful. The chicken panini was very tasty as well! We shared a baked potato, which was the biggest baked potato I've EVER seen! Although one potato was $6.99, a little steep but very yummy! Had lots of leftovers and their whole concept was a bit different. I hope they put one of these closer to me. I think the closest one is in north Naperville?? The location is a bit odd, but we decided to stop in and give it a try. I am glad we did. The variety of sandwiches is great - and many are truly unique. I had a muffuletta, which is apparently their signature sandwich, and is something I had never seen/had before. Tasty. Service was superb, and the place was very clean. While it was not on the menu or advertised, we added the salad bar to our meals for $1.00 extra, which was well worth it. Meals for the little ones are very affordable, and all meals come with free soft serve ice cream. Apparently they offer a good catering service as well. So I think this place is OK, but kind of pricey and nothing breathtakingly special. Most of the sandwiches are the size and heft of a dictionary, and I'm just not into all that for lunch. There's a large salad bar with lots of fixings and it's all very fresh. I usually get the spinach wrap with steamed veggies on the side, which is a very filling low-cal lunch. But of course, you can undo all the health benefits by hitting the free ice cream afterwards. The coffee there is also pretty good. Good food, but I was seriously disappointed by the size of the sandwich. The amount of meat was about half of what's in the pictures and the square-footage of bread is rather small, too. It's almost like Wonder Bread-sized slices. Ugh.. However, the food quality is great. They have quite a few sandwiches (under any name) that you rarely come across, and while the whole organic thing isn't super important to me, I appreciate the commitment to better (and local) ingredients, where possible.And they do have a fair amount of vegetarian courses as well, which is actually a little surprising for a sandwich shop. Jason's Deli keeps a star for the FREE ICE CREAM for every customer. They have a self-serve machine with vanilla, swirl, and chocolate. SCORE. They also keep a star for having an extensive menu. Sandwiches, soups, potatoes, pastas, desserts. There's something for everyone! We had a hard time deciding what to order. Another star is kept for their impressive salad bar. Everything looked fresh and clean. It wasn't a boring salad bar at all. I definitely want to try it next time. They lose 2 stars because their spicy seafood gumbo soup was too salty and didn't taste fresh. I had a quarter turkey muffaletta...I should have known that the olive mix on it would be...VERY olive-y. It was overpowering in my opinion.. If you love olives more than the average person, these muffalettas are for you! My bf got the santa fe chicken sandwich and it was good. Nothing memorable though. I come in about 3 times a month and am consistently satisfied with the value I get and the great customer service! My only complaint is how busy they get during peak times making seating difficult because people tend to stay for their entire lunch hour. In terms of the menu. The tuna melt is delicious and fresh and so many soups for any taste buds. I wish there were more booths to sit in but again, it's only during the peak hours when it is difficult to find seating. What do you think of when I say go to the Deli on the corner? This place has what your thinking! They make an awesome hearty sandwich so hearty you may forget it's time for dinner after having lunch. I get food in a number of places including Jason's Deli. At all the Jason's Deli locations they have free ice cream. I very rarely get the free ice cream. It's ok but there is a reason it's free. Anyway, today I got grilled about it. Asked if I was a customer as the manager looked at me and tells me, the ice cream is for customers. I buy stuff there all the time and I make several deliveries a day. Well, I'll make my deliveries but since I'm not a customer, I don't need to buy anything here again. Their menu is huge so you'll certainly find something to your liking. Quirky pet peave: please do not put a shit load of turkey only in the middle of the sandwich because then when you cut it, one end is stuffed with turkey goodness and one end is sad with zero turkey. Then my sandwich is unbalanced and likely to fall out of my hands while mid air to my mouth. All the ingredients fall onto my plate and now I have a sandwich salad. Here is what Jason's Deli is: Freshly made sandwiches be it Pannini, Muffaletta,Croissants,Wraps whatever. Freshly made soups. Fresh (I mean FRESH!) salad bar...all the fixin's. Unique beverages like the Boyland brand of soft drinks. FREE soft serve ice cream for the kids (how smart is that!). There are so many options for sandwiches in Chicagoland but, in my opinion, it is hard to beat all that is Jason's Deli. Maybe I should thank Jason's Mom more than I should thank Jason?? I have never had anything bad here, and I've been here at least 10 times. The soup is always heavenly, the salad bar is amazing and the sandwiches are to die for (especially the Muffalettas mmm). The only issue I have is that I would come here sometimes just for the French Onion soup, and they don't have it anymore! I almost walked out from disappointment last time, until I remembered I'm fat and everything there is just as delicious. And if you eat there, they have free ice cream! Also, I feel bad for not remembering cash for tips for the workers many times. They're always so friendly and helpful and they bust their butts, and I know it's rare that they get tips. The ordering process was kind of confusing and pretty sure I got overcharged (something listed as 5.29 on the board came out as 7.29 on my receipt....). When my sandwich arrived, it was missing chips and the sandwich itself was missing ingredients. I pointed this out and the server asked if he could bring me the ingredients on the side. Um...I would prefer to not reassemble my own lunch at the table, so I asked it to be remade. I thanked him when he brought it back out and he said, unprompted, "it wasn't my fault." I have to say the FREE soft serve is a definite plus in my book!!! I love that they have fresh and light options with the calories listed on the side for those watching their diet. Portions are perfect, I don't feel like I over eat when I come here and food is pretty tasty. I was in last week however and they were all out of potatoes. :( Regardless, my wrap was good and my side of fruit was fresh.
