Hadn't been in awhile since COVID. They are still holding on..there were a few inside diners during the lunch hour. The menu has changed just a little with more focus on sandwiches. I had the taco salad with chicken chili...note the item is no longer on the menu. You have to ask for it. Glad it was still available, too bad it's no longer on the menu. It comes in 2 sizes. I don't like to leave negative reviews but I was shocked to see an employee using the salad bar after me - picking up all of the salad bar items with his hands. He had gloves on but so what as I watched him touch all the surfaces in the restaurant before touching all of the food. Sure enough I wake up this morning with a sore throat. My wife is delivering at Edwards hospital just down the road. I placed an order late and picked it up. Upon driving back to the hospital my wife called asking if I could get her chicken broth since they have chicken noodle soup. I quickly turned around and went back. The staff was confused to see me as I was just there and it was minutes from their closing time. I spoke with the manager as he thought something must have been wrong with my order, but as I explained the situation and my need he quickly took care of it and wished me a Merry Christmas. I love Jason's Deli and I visit this location often... this Review is about a supervisor that I spoke with by the name of Brittany... I called the restaurant and originally spoke with a nice young lady "Jessica"... I stressed that I wanted to place an order via Uber eats but they do not allow me to customize my order... I then asked if it would be okay for me to place the order and then call the restaurant to customize and I was told yes. Once I placed my order I then called back and this is where I ended up with "Supervisor" Brittany.... Once I explained my situation to her she then informed me that I would NOT be able to customize my order the way that I would like... I could only take away from my potato but I could not add to it as there was no way to charge me for the add ons. I explained that I was not informed that by the first person "Jessica" and that my order had already been placed on Uber Eats... She then informed me that there was nothing that could be done although I was trying to explain to her that I would have been willing to pay on the spot for the add ons as I get the same add ons for my potato every time I order it but she could not hear me as she kept talking over me... She then asked if I just wanted to cancel the order as she needed to stop the order from being made. She put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with her again... Once she got on the phone I asked if my order had been cancelled as we got "disconnected" and she then informed me that she cancelled it on HER side but I needed to contact Uber Eats to cancel on my side. Brittany was Rude, Un-professional, combative, and obviously was "OVER" her day... There was a better way to handle the situation then how she addressed it... As a "supervisor" (She informed me that she was) The correct response would have been to apologize for my being miss-informed and work with me to rectify the situation so that both the restaurant and myself came away happy...instead I am sure SHE was as frustrated with me as I was with her and the restaurant lost the sale of not just 1 person but 3 different people as they did not feel comfortable placing their orders after hearing the conversation from my side. My Company does frequent catering orders from this Jason's Deli and unfortunately this experience with "Brittany" has personally soured me... One never knows who is on the other end of the phone line and maybe some additional training in conflict resolution would work wonders for her. read more

The sandwiches we ordered were excellent: Mediterranean veggie on GF bread, Pastrami on Rye (piled high like true deli), grilled cheese kids' meals (they are picky and loved them). However, I do think their chip selection could be better and not so basic - next time we'll order fruit or salad as our sides. Everything we ordered was fresh and served with a generous portion size. One child just wanted 5 meatballs so they charged us for a full adult order of penne pasta for 8.29 (she doesn't want the pasta... they will deduct $.25 if we just want the meatballs.) my other girl ordered a kid's pasta for 3.99 but wanted a salad on the side so they charged an additional $4.69 for an adult 1-trip salad bar because they don't offer salads for kids. I find the manager reaching out to me privately, rather than as a response on Yelp, to be unique. Many will respond on Yelp just for marketing purposes. The private message felt very authentic. My feedback to Jason's Deli on prices and flexibility for children. If children and families are part of your target customer then you need to understand that children can be picky. You need to build flexibility into your menu - adapt to the narrow tastes of the youth with reasonable pricing. Your average price for a meatball the size of a ping-pong ball is $1.33. One of their regional managers came into our office a few weeks ago to invite bosslady and me to their grand opening down the street from our building. Bosslady turned that into a free sample situation that he and the local sales rep brought to our office today. They showed up 20 minutes early so they'd have plenty of set-up time, and to be honest I was surprised. Some of the catering people we've had in here have shown up only 5 or 10 minutes early to set up for a 20-30 person lunch. Jason's Deli won points just for taking our time into consideration. I had half a Ranchero wrap, a few bites of the Chicken Pasta Primo, some fresh fruit with their delicious yogurt dip, a little cheddar broccoli soup, and some of their black currant tea. Everything was good. I wasn't expecting the jalapeños in the Ranchero wrap but once I took those out it was really good, as was everything else I tried. When I was helping to clean up after the guys left, I snagged a little sample of their banana pudding. It isn't as good as my dad's, but it's a close second. While my coworkers and I were eating, the regional manager (Steve, I didn't get a card from him so I don't know his last name) and the local sales manager (Jason Kipker - not THAT Jason) answered all of our questions, sometimes having to repeat themselves every time someone walked in the door. They were patient about repeating themselves answered all our questions with no hesitation and no version "Um, I'd have to look that up...," a phrase that makes me skeptical of sales people. As I sat there munching away on the wrap and eyeballing the big, juicy strawberry on my plate, Steve and Jason went on about the fresh ingredients, how they no longer serve food that has MSG, artificial trans fats, or high fructose corn syrup (except for the sodas, of course), and the history of the company. It wasn't a boring prepared lecture, it was more like if a buddy of yours had a new recipe, brought it over for you to try out, and was chatting with you about it. Steve and Jason weren't just knowledgeable and professional; they were also very personable and easy to talk to. They also weren't pushy at all, which was nice. I tried to properly emote my interest in what they were saying but I don't think I pulled it off because I was too busy digging into the pasta. Mmmmm pasta. I then spent two hours staring off into space in a pleasant food coma, and then I realized I should look busy so I decided to Yelp about it. Crafty bosslady has finagled invites for her, another assistant, and yours truly to their deli's grand opening tomorrow and I'll review that as well. Today is just for the catering. I kept a mental list of places/restaurants around campus that I considered to be "top tier" and Jason's Deli is one of those places. Since Jason's Deli is only 10 mins from our schools, my friends and I come here one a week or more, especially during final weeks when we are too lazy to cook. The California Club is delicious and yet healthy and it comes with a side. The side consists of either chips or fresh fruits. I usually get the fruit cup since it comes with this bomb dipping sauce. Oh yeah, not to mention the free ice cream, vanilla or chocolate. If you're like me, I recommend getting two cones, one vanilla and one chocolate. They have a full menu, but it is always hidden. For the longest time, my friend and I thought that Jason's Deli only serve sandwiches and salad. Until the last time, when we noticed that this one lady was eating pasta. At first, I thought she sneaked it in, but then we realized that she actually got it from here. The workers are friendly and helpful. However, the last time we came here, one of my friends wanted the fruit cup instead of the chips and the worker said it was a $2 substitution. Jason's surprised me the other day with it's wide range of sandwiches, friendly service and workers who went out of their way to take care of me . . .the customer! Odd concept, right? We stopped by on a busy Monday during lunch. We were greeted at the door by a series of cashiers who were patient and waiting for us to figure out what we wanted to eat. Turkey sandwich on wheat toast? Check. Oh. And how about some of that home made chicken noodle soup? Sure. I didn't know how it worked but after paying- you are handed a number (for eat in orders) and told to go and find a table. The place was hopping so the pickings on tables were slim but the busser got us a cleaned table right away and cleaned up after us when we were finished. I was surprised to see a salad bar in the middle of the place- I thought those had gone out with the last re runs of Three's Company. But there it was. And with a wide assortment of salads, and vegetables. And don't let me forget those little mini muffins people were grabbing at. Another surprise? Adults lining up at the free self serve ice cream machine to make themselves a cone or cup of the dairy confection. Funny how soft serve can bring a smile to even the sternest executive's face! Our food came and while not fancy- it was quite good. The woman delivering it our table forgot my soup and in the same instant I noticed that the first girl had never wrung it up. "No problem" said the food runner. "I'll go and get you a soup. No charge". And so she did. Love to see empowered employees! Nice to have a new option for lunch by the office. I've also ordered in for meetings and their "boxed lunches" are quite good as well and you can place the entire order on line. It's more like 3.5 stars, so close to that 4 star rating. My friends and I took a study break and grabbed dinner at Jason's Deli. We arrived a little after 6 PM on a Saturday and shortly after we placed our order, there was a mob of people entering so it does get pretty busy. You order at the counter and then they'll give you a number so they can bring your food to you when it's ready. This specific store only has a big menu that highlights their top sandwiches/entree items but they do offer menus near the register so just grab one if it's your first time. I got the Club Royale and wanted to opt out of chips and get a salad/soup but the guy taking my order was having such a difficult time understanding that. He said that the Club Royale only comes w/ chips and a salad was another $4 or something like that. My other friend opted out for fruits and it was $2 for like 4 strawberries and 5-6 pieces of cantaloupe..I thought that was a really big rip off. Price aside, the guy was just not making it easy for me to get any other side so I just stuck with my chips... They do have a salad bar so I am assuming it is unlimited salad? Perks of this place is their FREE ICE CREAM. There's a station near the salad bar/soda fountain that offers chocolate and vanilla ice cream for free. I tend to walk here from work a lot, seeing as my office is really close. They have huge portions here, and you will pay a little more because of it. The quality is very good -- and I've been here more than half a dozen times since they opened. They have a Turkey Reuben which I love -- stacked high with lots of sauerkraut if that's your thing. The service is pretty good. They will go over all their options with you (such as streamed veggies which is great compared to their bag of chips). During the lunch hour it gets very busy here, so I'd recommend coming around 11:30am or after 1pm if possible. They also have free soft service ice creme -- vanilla, twist, or chocolate. Good stuff. A warning to those of you that eat here a lot -- their food is a lot more fattening that you may think. If you stick to the salad bar and avoid lots of dressing though I could see that as a healthy option. read more

I usually go to the Jason's Deli on Roosevelt and Canal but I didn't feel like driving there just for a sandwich, so I went to the one closer to my house. From the first glance, it seems the same as the one I usually visit. When I walked in, I was greeted by 4 employees. I figured because the manager was sitting right there watching the employees. It's cool, but how would they act if the manager wasn't around? I ordered the California Club, my favorite. I also grabbed the strawberry shortcake since it looked so good sitting in the case. It was the last one, so I went ahead and got it, even though it was almost $4 with tax. When I bit into the sandwich, I was a bit disappointed. I'm used to the sandwich being warm, not cold. We actually stopped here after planning to eat dinner at a restaurant in the same strip and I disliked my meal so much I was still hungry so we stopped here on the way back to the car for a sandwich. I'm impressed with the idea of this restaurant- they have a great menu with healthy options and you can even order a smaller portion which is a great idea. You order and pay at the counter and then sit down and they bring you your food. I am surprised how casual this restaurant is- the tables and chairs look like they are straight out of a junior high cafeteria. Very casual and not super comfortable either. I ordered the Club Royale which is turkey, ham, lettuce, tomato, bacon and spicy honey mustard on a toasted croissant (OK, probably not one of the healthier options). It comes with cheese but I don't like cheese so kept it off. It was pretty tasty and my husband enjoyed half of it. It comes with potato chips- they look like Ruffles- kind of boring. I didn't care for the spiciness of the mustard which kind of overpowered the sandwich. The salad bar looked good. I appreciated the free ice cream- the chocolate was delicious- and they even had dark chocolate syrup you could add if you wanted. Not many places have salad bars anymore. This place does and they do it well! Artichoke hearts, beets, roasted red peppers, cottage cheese, bacon and all the other healthy stuff. I know it's a chain and I prefer to support the locals but it was freezing cold outside and I really wanted some hot soup. I like their Seafood Gumbo and the Southwest Chicken Chili. It's got plenty of spicy goodness which I require when I have these types of soups especially the Gumbo. Maybe a tad salty but what soup isn't these days unless you make you're own. I like that you order and then go find a seat and they bring it out to you with real spoons! I have had a few of their sandwiches and am particular to the corned beef. You can get it in several sizes. A half sandwich, a 1/2 pounder or a 3/4 pound corned beef pastrami mix that is value priced at around eleven bucks. This location has a parking problem, it's near another sandwich joint and an workout place so if you're here during prime eating and exercising times you'll get some cardio in by walking to lunch. Read this review for directions to free soft serve ice cream. My first visit to Jason's Deli was today. My second visit to Jason't Deli was 2 hours later, and I brought friends. Just had to spread the good food gospel, ya know? The menu and dining room here are huge- it took me 10 minutes just to read through the menu. What I found inside were some really delicious sounding sammies, soups, salads, and more (they have a salad bar!). I was so excited to hear that they have a good selection of veggie options and I also liked that their menu shows you the nutritional information about each sandwich. On my first stop, I got the the spinach and veggie wrap with no cheese and steamed veggies as my side. At the time of my visit it was just before 7:00 and not busy at all. While waiting for my food, which only took about 5 minutes, I overhead a man who works in the area tell his kids that for lunch the entire place gets packed with a line out the door. I believe it. With all the corporate centers around here and the healthy and fast food options being very limited, I'd imagine this place gets quite popular. When my wrap arrived I was not expecting much for flavor since I had tried to make it healthy by leaving off the cheese but I was pleasantly surprised with my first bite. The guacamole and pico de gallo were perfect and the sprouts, which I thought would over power the wrap since they were plentiful, added just the right amount of flavor, and blended perfectly with the uber fresh spinach and mushrooms. I was already hooked and then I found out that along with having a soup and salad bar for purchase, they have FREE SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM! Once I knew this I did what any rational person would do and threw my diet into the wind. Chocolate Vanilla Swirl in a cone please! On my "second coming" I was surprised to find that they are open until 10pm during the week, a rarity for restaurants, especially quickie ones, in the burbs. The Bf got a Po Boy and I got yet another wrap, this time the grilled portabella wrapini (a wrap that's pressed and toasted like a panini). Again, my order was delish, and my BFs sandwich was large and full of meat; I think he had to unhinge his jaw a little to eat it. I saw another guy order the hot corned beef and pastrami sandwich and it was quite the sight. When my beloved Whole Foods isn't what I'm craving, J Dawgs is where I take my appetite for lunch. They take their sandwiches and wraps to a whole new creative level by throwing the extra flavor of avocado and salsa into the mix. I don't feel like my veggie only crowd and I are an after thought at Jason's. If anything it was made with us in mind! I have not yet tried their pizza, but it's becoming pretty desperate that I indulge one of these days. The lines are generally pretty long, but they move reaaaally quick. Delivery starts an order of $25 I believe with a charge of about $7 so keep that in mind. If you're nearby with at least 30 minutes for lunch, this the choice for you. I love Jason's Deli. Love it. So the food is not what I am here to review because it's not something that makes this location stand out from the others. This location has the worst possible ordering system. The lines for the register are always confusing and difficult for people. They offer no room to form an actual line, so there is always cutting and butting and general chaos. The full menu is not posted so that makes newcomers especially slow. If you know what you want, you can try the to-go line, but a few times I try I've gotten ignored. Even when I phone in my order specifically to avoid the line, it seems like the employees don't understand it. Please, please add some kind of signage or ropes or something to clarify the ordering line because it's the only thing keeping me from visiting more often. FREE soft serve, yes folks, FREE!! :) I love love love Jason's Deli. I love it even more that I can get half a sandwich and eat their yummy salad bar for a buck more. I have been there three times in the last few weeks and have gotten the same thing because it's so yummy. One thing that I miss since I have dropped red meat are reubens. They have turkey reubens and they are awesome!! Not to mention it's on the lighter side menu. A whole turkey reuben sandwich is 13 grams of fat, it's scary to think how fatty the other items are that are not on the lighter menu, yikes!! Anyway, I order it with no cheese and it's still quite delicious. The salad bar is fantabulous. It's always clean, I hate how places like Flat Top has different foods in different containers. They have a great assortment, I love how they give you whole eggs instead of cut up mush like at Sweet Tomatoes. I love their honey mustard dressing. Still watch out, it says low fat, but it still is 9 grams of fat for 4 tablespoons. The seating area is huge and clean and their staff brings out your food to you. Had a Club Royale at Jason's. Toaste croissant with smoked turkey breast, ham, bacon, Swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, honey mustard. That's the exact description from the menu and that's exactly what I got. Since I've never been to a Jason's I had no idea what to expect. You order, they give you a number and you sit. Then they find your number and bring you your food. It seems like a lot of places are adapting this concept. The place was pretty packed for lunch so it was kind of hard to find some seating. They also have a salad buffet and it looked pretty good, but ofcourse I opted for the fattier choice. ;) Oh and lets not forget the free (well they claim it is, but lets be honest, it's included in the price) self serve ice cream!
