Finally made it to try Swansons on Saturday. It's a small spot located between the movie theater and BBQ joint in hothead heart of La Grange. Although there are no tables, there's a ledge by the window with some stools if you want to "dine in". The guy running the place looked young but was super friendly and seemed genuinely passionate about the deli. He told me they make their meats and soups in store. It was a cold day so I opted for a small size of each of their soils that day- chicken noodle, cream of chicken, and roasted stuffed peppers. Everyone in the family had a taste of each and we all had different favorites so I will conclude that regardless of what you get, you will enjoy it! My husband also had their chicken pesto panini while I split a ham and swim with my son. Good flavors and fresh ingredients. Also excellent proportions. We will definitely be back! read more

I really liked this spot. The place has the old-school rustic look.. The staff were super friendly and made conversation, which you don't get much anymore. I got the Italian sub, it came with mortadella, hot capicola, Genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, oil, and vinegar on Italian bread. First bite, I was like yes... this is it. The flavor just hits right, salty, tangy, and a little spicy from the capicola. Bread had that perfect chew, not too soft, not rock hard. Maybe could've been a little toastier but that's just me, but honestly, it was solid. We also got the Turkey Cobb. Roasted turkey, blue cheese, and applewood smoked bacon on thick sourdough with avocado. That one was so good. The blue cheese really stood out, packed a flavorful punch that tied it all together. Located next to the LaGrange Theater, Swanson's is ideally located for a pre or post movie snack! The food is good, place is clean, staff very helpful, but evening hours are very limited! We asked for info and recommendations from the staff, and all our questions were answered. We took the advice of one of the fellows behind the counter and tried the chicken pesto panini. Delicious! Sandwiches are made to order, then picked up at the counter when ready. The guy behind the counter bussed our sandwiches to us, though. Helpful and nice! There's a few tables and a couple of benches outside on the sidewalk if you choose to dine alfresco, or there's a little counter and stools by the window. Street parking, or plenty of parking and a short walk from the LaGrange Municipal Lot. read more

First, I would like to say I have been coming to Swanson's for the last 6 months. I have defaulted to ordering "The Rueben" or a chicken salad sandwich on a french roll (the works of course, RE: Additional toppings, cheese) every time I come in. Every time I have come into the shop, I have been treated like a VIP, regardless of the staff on duty that day. The quality of their product is stellar; always fresh, always delicious. Today, I decided to try something different; moreover, I ordered the BLT. In conclusion, just say the BLT is now my "go-to" sandwich from Swanson's. I have never had a better BLT in my life (sorry to all Grandmas and Mothers, it's the truth). Service was great. Food was basic. I ordered 3 sandwiches and 3 soups and a bottled water . $ 94.00 yep. You read that right $94.00 . Lesson learned , I will either go to subway or make my own. In an area that has been a deli desert, Swansons Deli is a welcome addition to La Grange. I went in on a Saturday afternoon to get a sandwich. I ordered a turkey sandwich, with Swiss on a sub roll. The sandwich was prepared in just a couple minutes and was good quality. Staff was polite and efficient. The line of customers was out the door when I left, so they are getting popular. I am rating Swansons 3 stars based on this: Swansons has a menu posted on the wall, but do not list all of the toppings that they offer. They only offer their full menu on a QR code.... Note to Swansons, not everybody Carries a smartphone everywhere... Get some printed menus. Menus on phones only are stupid. The cash register kid only directed me to the QR code, thus what I ordered was directionally what I wanted, but not exact. Add printed menus and I'll gladly revise the review to four stars! I did not come here to get food but my partner did. She said the place wasn't that busy but it took about half hour to get 2 sandwiches. That being said, their special ingredient must be *love* because my meal was delicious & my partner said she rly liked hers too. My sandwich was a smidge heavy on the mayo but still quite tasty. I love a good deli......Especially one with a small business feel. This deli offers many of the staples, corned beef, pastrami, turkey and Ruebens. They also have the standard sizes, like cole slaw, potato salad, chili and soups. Service was polite and quick. The sides were made daily and the sandwiches were made fresh. I would prefer this place over and chain sandwich shops in the area but the only drawback is their hours. I'm unsure when they will be open. I know they're new to downtown LaGrange and would love to patronize more but I'm made a few trips during what was suppose to be business hours, only to find them closed. read more

We had a big order for a dinner party we hosted. Everyone raved about their sandwiches. The burnt ends dip is AMAZING and so is the beet salad. Honestly, the sandwiches are meh and overpriced and I don't think this place will make it long term. For the price of a 12" at a chain you get a 6-8" here, and the flavor just isn't really there somehow.
