Ok first of all...I just found out today that they've been in the neighborhood for a min now. I hate myself for just finding out . I heard a few patients from my office talking about it but never asked until I accidentally took the express 41 instead of the local and ended up on parkside. Hot day...slowly dragging my feet on my walk home and what do I see? "Tacos de Birria" OH HELLO!! Without hesitation...I walked in, ordered 3 birria tacos, consume and hibiscus agua fresca. Talked to the owner (I was sleep deprived so I didn't get to ask his name...but I'll be back tomorrow) and maybe 10 mins later my beautiful order arrived. Let me tell you...I was sleep deprived from a long day and just wanted to go home but those tacos?!?! I was stuck in a food coma and throughly enjoyed every last bite! Cheese in between the tortilla? YES, flavorful? YES! Nice and friendly service in the neighborhood unlike some bar/restaurants that I shall not name? YES! The agua fresca was refreshing and gave exactly what it needed to give. This is my go to spot for Birria tacos on this side of brooklyn. Consome is a little on the spicy side but very good. Birria tacos and double walled with cheese in between which adds a nice touch to the taco. I've tried many other places and this place definitely fits the category of my go to spots for tacos. Hola Emilio! Jauja has been my lunch staple literally since the day it opened and I can say that I eat here at least three times a week. My go-to are the green enchiladas al pastor but honestly everything is solid. Emilio is always working on new menu items, and making improvements around the restaurant (they're working on the patio). I've been ordering their food for a few weeks now and the grilled chicken and chicken tinga tacos are the best. I've tried their burrito and nachos, which are also wonderful. The man and woman (I assume they are the owners?) behind the counter are such nice people. Originally, I used to always ask for salsa with my food, but since I visit them so much they already have it in the bag for me. Food is very authentic, fresh, and affordable. I walked past several delicious looking roti and Caribbean spots on a quest to obey my food gods! Lol. Enough of that! It's a small takeout spot with a few tables to enjoy your meal. I first ordered beef and chicken tacos and sat down to wait for my order. The food gods whispered in my ear, don't stop there! So I ordered the elote in a cup, shrimp taco and beef soup.
