Cozy little place in the Cooper-Young district. The chai is to die for! The baristas are really nice and crafty! Walked in here to grab some early morning caffeine for my friends and myself; needless to say I was impressed. Woke me up with a jolt! Visited location yesterday and today... had a 16 oz cup of latte each visit.. Yesterday, the visit was GREAT!... The employee who made the coffee was very nice, polite and made a very good cup of coffee on both days.... Today, (5/1/2019) thought I was ordering what I had ordered the previous day... it was not the same; however, the guy who made the coffee remembered me from the previous day, and got the order correct.... The owner was at the shop today, and acted as if I was trying to cheat the shop of money, and she was nasty, mean and demeaning... I did not know if it was because I am African American with an afro, or if she is just a very unpleasant person....I know that there are nice performances here, but, I will not return for food or coffee.... read more

I've had two very different experiences at Java Cabana based on who was running the shop that day. My first couple times it was a very kind guy who made my feel comfortable and welcome. The most recent it was the owner who I immediately had somewhat tense interactions with. Regardless, the coffee was been amazing every time. And the small crowd has been eclectic. read more

I love it here! I get what I want quickly and with a smile. I love hanging out in Java Cabana whenever I visit Memphis. I really feel connected to the local community there. This cool, funky little place has poetry readings on Thursdays where you can easily meet new people. They have a vintage clothes corner for some sweet finds and make sure you try their signature Lavender mocha!! read more

I came here for a Bumble Bizz date and ordered an Iced Fancy Caramel Latte and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Our meeting went great and if there was ever a quiet time, we would always bring it back to how good our coffee was. Will definitely have more meetings here. read more

My favorite local coffee shop. I've waited to write reviews about it, because one of the things I like is how low key it feels. They have great fresh brewed coffee, and their chocolate chip cookies are amazing. A small shop, so the workers know you if you're a regular. They always have the familiar 1970s Rock and soul music on. I only go during the day, but I know they have karaoke and evening events. read more

I met a friend here and discovered their Sweet Jane. Vanilla and caramel espresso drink with whip cream. So good! It's an eclectic little place with vintage furniture, but it has a warm feel. And their espresso brownies (when they have them) are really good, too! I wish they opened earlier, but I like that they are open late. read more

I really love this coffee shop-- cute interior, reliable wifi, welcoming staff, really good coffee. They seem open to new customers. They also serve almond milk and vegan treats for all those non milk drinkers. tips are welcome but not expected. I have usually gotten the drip coffee but am going to try espresso drinks soon. Meant to finish this review a couple months ago. It was okay. Just okay. My friend and I got iced coffees which were good and refreshing. My review would be higher but the space could be more clean and organized and less dingy. I get that the mismatched and old furniture is supposed to denote an artsy + vintage vibe, but I felt some things in the shop needed a proper scrub-down. The kitchen also looks like it needs some love, and I want to be able to trust where my food + drink is being prepared. That said, the vibe is nice, service is friendly, and this unique shop does add to the cool character of the neighborhood. read more
