Perfect stop for a gorgeous morning!! We were biking down the Monon through Broad Ripple and needed to stop for a yummy iced coffee - and Java gave us exactly that. An amazing atmosphere to enjoy a cold or hot beverage with friends or get into work mode. Plenty of available seating to take in the liveliness and warm lighting. They have a decent breakfast menu from pastries to breakfast sandwiches. Of course, the beverages are the main event. I got a hot Tedster (Salted Carmel) with oat milk. Just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely a place I'll make a frequent stop when I'm in Broad Ripple. read more

Need a destination to walk on the Monon with a reward? Java House is a great option for the coffee/tea lover. Sitting on the corner of 64th and Monon (directly across from BRICS), it truly is an attractive space and adds to the active Broad Ripple area. There's indoor and outdoor seating - outdoor is dog friendly. I'm not an active coffee drinker, however I do enjoy an iced drink every so often. I opted for the Tedster iced - and of course went for the whipped cream ( don't skip the whipped cream). The staff were welcoming and quick on completing my order. Pricing is a little more than you pay for at some of the other local Broad Ripple staples. I'm happy to trek back and grab another beverage sometime! read more

Java House Coffee Bar is a growing mini-chain, and I use the word "chain" somewhat loosely, that started in Carmel, Indiana a couple years ago and has now plopped down this third location smack dab in the middle of Broad Ripple. Okay, technically, it's not "smack dab in the middle." Technically, it's more off to the side a bit. But, that doesn't have as nice of a ring to it. It's actually right on the Monon Trail, a weird fact when you consider that the Monon Coffee Company is actually 2-3 blocks away actually smack dab in the middle of Broad Ripple (really!) and not actually on the Monon but pretty close to it. Oy. I'm so confused. Considering the recent increase in not even close to affordable housing in the Broad Ripple area, it's not surprising that we're also starting to see an increase in yuppified business joints like Java House Coffee Bar. It's located on the ground floor of one of those apartment buildings (Don't ask me which one. They all look the same to me). It's catty-corner to BRICS. Though, I've never really understood catty-corner since there's no cat. It is on a corner, though. It's actually a really attractive and cool shop. During good weather (like today), they can open up those garage door style windows and it turns into an open-air coffee joint on the Monon. I could literally spend the entire day going back and forth between ice cream and coffee. I think we call that nirvana. This is a fairly accessible place. With the open air concept in place, it becomes even more accessible. What makes Java House different? Their coffee is cold-brewed. That's right. All of it. Yes, you can have hot cold-brewed coffee. Quit looking at me like that. I know of what I speak. They offer catering, have delivery options, and have coffee available for offices. Java House has pod options (Yay! Finally a way to support local and still use pods) and they have cold brew concentrate. Like most coffee joints, they have some snacks, breakfast sandwiches, etc. available. I'm pretty basic and just wanted an iced coffee. It was rock solid, though if you're coming here you're likely coming here as much for the atmosphere and location as you are the actual coffee. So, I suppose the coffee wars have begun in Broad Ripple with a nearby Starbucks, a friendly neighborhood Monon, and the convenient and more premium Java House. The staff here seems to still be getting the hang of things, though it has been a couple months since the doors opened. Service has that friendly yuppie aura. It's friendly, but it lacks that certain comfort that I really value. It really comes down to what you value. There's an awful lot to love here and I'm positive I'll be back. Prices are definitely a bit higher here, but you can't beat the location, open air, and Monon access. This is the third location for Java House - the other two are in Carmel. I'll be anxious to see how things pan out here in Broad Ripple, however, it's a fairly similar concept to Carmel's efforts to turn the Monon into a bit of a festive place. It's definitely happening. I spent some time on the trail today and was amazed at how much it's growing. So, if you're on the Monon in the Broad Ripple area give Java House a try. read more

This has got to be the best cup of coffee I have had in a while! I went in not knowing what to expect. The worker at the front helped me to navigate what I'd like. I got the sweater weather. Hands down 10/10 delicious! It's packed with so much flavor. Not only is the coffee good the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I could definitely see myself ordering a coffee and staying for a while ! If you are in the area I recommend stopping by . I've had the pleasure of enjoying Java House cold brew a variety of times and was excited to check out this coffee shop conveniently located along the Monon Trail right in the heart of Broad Ripple Village. Both the exterior and interior of this business are shiny and modern with fun lighting and floor to ceiling windows. They offer a lineup of signature drinks, cold brews on tap and traditional hot coffee as well. I also noticed they had a few baked good items on display at the front counter like scones. It was a chilly morning so I decided to go for the hot Colombian coffee which hit the spot. The only reason I hold off on the fifth star is because the woman working during our Thursday morning visit was not very friendly and seemed distracted while listening to music with earbuds in which also kind of grossed me out once they were out and hanging in the front of her during food/drink prep. I was there earlier this last week for an afternoon study session. Their coffees are all cold brewed, but can be served hot as well. They have a number of interesting taps for their cold brews that can be made into other drinks or taken home in a growler. I had one of their signature drinks, In a Minute, which was a chocolate and cinnamon drink over ice, which was a fine refreshing drink. My reservations with it were that the flavor wasn't well balanced throughout the drink (more cinnamon flavor on top then a more pronounced chocolate flavor on the bottom). It was good, but not outstanding. I will look forward to trying their base coffee just to see what it is like without all the added flavors, and to consider if a growler of it this summer might be nice to have on hand. The garage doors were open when I went and the indoor space was at a comfortable temperature despite the 90+ degree humidity brewing (no pun intended) outside. Outlet availability was pretty good throughout for those bringing their laptops to work and the seating arrangements were pretty spread out so that conversations were too intrusively loud. read more

I mean it when I say I really want to like Java House. Several of my friends are die hard fans, so I keep coming back to try it, but it's only made me question their taste in coffee. This is a cold-brew bar. Their drinks, cold AND hot, are made using their cold brew. There's a reason cold brew is brewed the way it is -- it's supposed to be served cold. I appreciate the innovative spirit, but as someone who loves craft coffee, cold brew "concentrate" heated up is not espresso and shouldn't be treated as such. Also, their cold brew is sub par. Truly, I've given this place at least 5 chances. I've tried 2 different kinds of their cold brew black, I've tried nitro, I've tried their sweet drinks, and the coffee is very lackluster. Cold brew is supposed to be strong and rich, and this cold brew tastes watered down. I've had to come home and doctor my drinks several times to be able to finish them. Now, after all of this, why do I give Java 3 stars? -They do create an experience. With all of the taps and different choices, it makes the customer feel involved in the process. I appreciate that. -They have fun flavor choices/combinations. They do get creative here! Are all of their flavored drinks too sweet for my liking? Yes. But the thought does count, in my opinion. -They have a great space. It really is beautiful, and right on the Monon which I love. It's a perfect place to work or study with lots of natural light and places to sit. I think Java is a great spot for those who enjoy sweet drinks with a hint of coffee flavor. My husband and I visited Java House after a morning brunch at Public Greens. We had heard great things and the seating and general venue looked very inviting. They shared that their drinks are made with a cold brew base and had a ton of options including traditional coffee shop items. Despite the cold brew base, they have warm options as well. I ordered one of the rotating specials and my husband opted for a classic. Both drinks were strong, so if you're looking for a morning boost, this might be your new spot! Java House is an excellent location for many reasons. For Butler students, it is a reasonably close drive, with lots of parking. Java is also a great place to get away from campus to study and do homework. Java house being right on the Monon trails, calls for a lot of foot traffic, and almost every time I have been here, all of the tables have been full. One of my favorite parts of Java is the outdoor seating. This is a perfect way to get work done while still being able to enjoy being outside with free wifi. Being known as a coffee shop, Java offers many good food options. The bagel sandwiches, muffins, and scones are delicious. During the fall time of year, Java offers many seasonal drinks such as pumpkin lattes, which in my opinion, are the best. Although I enjoyed the food and beverages, my egg sandwich was slightly overcooked. My favorite thing about Java is the environment. With a rustic and modern feel, Java has quickly become me, and my friends go to study spots! I suggest trying the hot chai latte. The chai is an excellent replacement for those who are not huge coffee drinkers like me. The workers are all amicable and engaging when taking your order. I also love that there are windows around the entire building, giving it a very indoor-outdoor feel. Decided to try again since they had a promo on sandwiches. First, I love the Java spaces....... industrial, cozy, inviting. My low review is because they still charge $4 for medium mug of black coffee and $2 for refills. I spend nearly every morning in different coffee shops locally and traveling. This is the only coffee place I've been where there are OPTIONS for cold brew! You can even get a flight. Uh may zing for a coffee lover like me! Last visit was at this location so super conveniently located on the monon for a boost before the morning walk, run, bike or a stop for a refreshing recovery that kicks some energy into you too! I took the latter approach and treated myself to a cold workaholic (sounds awful...but it's not) after my run. There was some amazing whipped topping, shaved almonds topping, and the maple flavor over the iced coffee with cream. Perfection! I love the flow of the space from indoor to outdoor seating really opening up to the monon trail. They sell their coffee in pods that can be used in a keurig or opened as a cold brew concentrate keeping with the hot and cold theme! They also have cold brew concentrate cartons maybe for catering or maybe for your fridge so you can have a week or so of cold brew ready to use...I'll have to look into the details more! Really cute coffee cups and other swag. A few snacks were available and they had some breakfast sandwiches. Welcome to Broad Ripple Java House! I am so so happy to have you just a short walk from home. I stopped in on their grand opening and indulged in a BOGO cold brew. Their cold brew is smooth and delightful, especially on a sunny afternoon. I've never had any of the lattes, but am looking forward to working my way through the menu. They also offer growler fills of their nitro cold brew so you can sip on the nectar of the gods at all times. The space is incredible. I stopped by this location for the first time. I've had Java House before, though, and I absolutely love it. When I got to this location, I ordered a large cold brew with cold foam. It was clear that the person taking my order was new since they asked someone else if they do cold foam. No big deal. They finally figured it out and rang me out. No one was in front of me in line, and someone only ordered after me a few minutes after I ordered. He got his coffee first. But again, no biggie. My drink was finally started to be made after a little bit of a wait, and the newer person messed it up and had to re-do it. She apologized to me and of course it was no big deal. However, I'm stuck on 3 because all while this new person struggles, a clearly more experienced worker just watched her struggle the whole time without intervening. I completely understand wanting a new staff member to learn the ropes, but not at the expense of a customer waiting 10 minutes for their drink when no one else ordered before them. Wow! We thought we'd look and see if there was anything interesting to order, and I ended up with the In A Minute, which is chocolate and cinnamon and IT WAS DELICIOUS!
