I am a regular here. At least once a week. The food is always good and very large portions. Excellent prices and friendly. I have had the carne asada, chili verde and chicken..... I am an expert when it comes the their hungry man burrito. It is 12"x12" by about 5 inches thick. I get it wet and I have had it with the three meats I said before all very tasty. Amazing tacos!! I went on a Sunday when they were only 75 cents a taco. I ordered 3 bean tacos and they were delicious! Best breakfast in Visalia. My favorite is the bacon empanada, a good deal, with the jalapeño and cream cheese bread. Comes to under 5 dollars and so good, Quality meat and deep fried bread. Also the machacha burrito and breakfast burritos are gourmet, and bug enough for 2 people if you get something from the bakery. As authentic as it gets. Food was DELICIOUS and the prices were low compared to other restaurants in the area. Their regular burrito was huge and one of the best I've had anywhere. It goes great with their green salsa. They have a wide range of menu items to choose from. They are also located adjacent to a Mexican bakery that bakes authentic Mexican sweet bread daily. I really like javis, it is centrally located, clean and has friendly service. The prices are good, and they always have specials. I think it's a good place to grab something if you don't feel like cooking and spending too much. They have good salsa, and the burritos are filling. One of our fav cheap mex places. The carnitas are always good. Fish tacos are good but we don't like the chipotle sauce they put on. The .75 cent tacos on Tues, Th and Sun are good. My hubby loves their chile rellanos topped with chile verde. Their refritos are excellent, kids love the bean and cheese and BRC's. The people are GREAT and will remember you after a few visits, always friendly. Everything is fairly priced and the kids plates are very generous. Throughly disappointed with their carnitas burrito and environment. First, when I went in, it was stuffy. They had ceiling fans on, but come on today is going to be the hottest day yet this year. At least turn on the AC to a comfortable temperature. Also, the floor in front of their salsa bar had chopped onion all over. A girl was in there and asked for her order to be changed to a to go and the cook clicked his tongue and rolled his eyes because he had to change it. Now for the food. I ordered a carnitas burrito to go. When I got home, I thought wow this is small for $8!! I can get a bigger burrito and a tastier one cheaper in San Diego. All the burrito had was meat, rice, and beans. The carnitas had little to no flavor until I put some salsa on it. Even though I like to support small businesses, I won't support this one ever again. I went this past Tuesday to buy some Carnitas tacos and was happy to get a good deal at 0.75 cents per taco. Since I had ordered them to go and wanted to garnish them with the shredded cabbage and salsas (which are very tasty) much to my disappointment I noticed I found that each taco only had about 3 thin strips of carnitas, when I showed the cashier he very nicely pointed out that they were only '0.75 cents' and went on to say that is why they are not filled as normal! Seriously :(? That's a bummer because if you're going to have a "sale" to attract more customers with any item why would you cut the portions in half? If so, El Mejor needs to include the words 'half size tacos' on their ads/banners. That way at least the customers know what to expect. I mean you don't go to a half off sale to buy a pair of jeans and find them with only one pant leg because after all they're 'half' off.
