My colleagues kept posting about this place, so I finally checked it out. Long story short -- this isn't your ordinary Filipino spot. It's good food and good community. AMBIANCE Parking: Plaza parking with plenty of space -- unless there's a special event or the weekly farmer's market happening. Seating: Plenty of seating for both groups and individuals. Probably room for around 100 people. Vibes: Welcome to National City -- not polished or touristy, but full of local gems. It's a grit-and-grind area packed with strong cultural eats. Villa Manila itself is spacious and relatively clean, with Filipino décor touches throughout. You're usually blessed with OPM playing in the background, sometimes a live DJ, and on certain nights, locals taking over during karaoke. It's a great place for a food adventure or a family outing. FOOD / DRINKS Kanto Bowl - VM Fried Chicken (Highly Recommend) Delicious. Not your typical powder-battered fried chicken -- it has a more natural, rustic look with a serious crunch. Juicy on the inside with a savory kick. The upgraded garlic rice added depth, the lumpia brought that comforting classic vibe, and the pickled cucumbers balanced everything out with a refreshing bite. Bicol Express (Recommend) Another standout dish. I'm used to a heavier coconut presentation, but this version leaned more into the natural meat flavor visually. That said, the creamy coconut notes were definitely there, blending beautifully with house chili sauce, garlic, and shrimp paste. Bold flavor without overwhelming the palate. Calamansi / Mango Tea (Modified - Recommend) Asked if they could mix the two -- glad they did. For those unfamiliar, give it a try. It's a sweet-tart medley rooted in Filipino flavors. Refreshing and unique. CUSTOMER SERVICE Maria was great -- friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful with the menu. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Awesome! I'm a tough critic when it comes to Filipino food -- my family cooks mean dishes -- but if we ever need a break from the kitchen, this is a comforting place to land. Good food, reasonable prices, and genuinely pleasant vibes. What really stands out is the strong sense of hospitality and community. Wishing Tita Nancy and the Villa family continued success! I definitely need to come back. #FilipinoMovement #RepresentAZN TIPS: * They serve breakfast now! * Karaoke nights on Fridays and Saturdays

Came here for brunch on one of the weekends that they were hosting a vendor market event in the parking lot. They had some really cool Filipino businesses selling plants, candles, food, etc. Inside is small, but not cramped. There's a bar where they serve some cool drinks. We didn't get to try them at this visit, but they look yummy. The food presentation and portions were good and tasty. They served the sinigang in these pots that takes me back to the restaurants we would go to in the Philippines. The servers were nice and great at explaining the menu and making suggestions.

This was my first time here and the food was delicious! Service was great and staff were all so sweet and welcoming! Theres a tiny little stage inside and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available and about 5-6 seats at the bar. They have some specialty cocktails and beer on draft and prices are super affordable! There's plenty of free parking available in the lot. Food/drink review: We ate buffet style and I don't remember all the dishes we had, but they were all yummy! The lumpia was my favorite. Leche flan: (4/5) This was pretty tasty! It wasn't too sweet, which was nice and good consistency. Mango bliss: (3.5/5) This drink is made of soju and mango juice, tastes exactly as described...but wasn't my favorite. Pandanmonium: (5/5) This was super sweet and creamy! It's dangerous to drink as you barely taste the alcohol. Would order this drink again. Beef a la carte: (4/5) The meat was tender, you get a good portion size, but it was a little too salty in my opinion. Combination adobo: (4/5) This was also pretty tasty, but a little salty. The meat was nice and tender and very filling.

After visiting the National City Flea Market with my kids, we stopped at Villa Manila, which is conveniently right next door with shared parking. There was a brief wait to be seated, and while we were given menus with happy hour and weekly specials, none of those deals were actually available at the time. The food was delicious, like comforting home cooking, and served in a reasonable time. Prices are a bit above average, but the friendly service, family-friendly vibe, and setup that easily accommodates large families or groups made it worth it.

We were invited by our cousin for a night of karaoke and dinner at Villa Manila and it did not disappoint! We ordered the bangus sisig (no fish bones , yes!), tortang talong, house garlic fried rice, fried chicken, and the sampler appetizer, which came with chicharron bulaklak, lumpia Shanghai, and chicken skins. The vibe was upbeat and fun, perfect for a karaoke night. The sampler was a standout: crispy, flavorful, and not greasy at all (especially the chicken skins, which can easily go wrong elsewhere). The fried chicken had a beautifully crispy skin and was juicy on the inside and cooked just right. The sisig was flavorful and well-balanced, and again, bone-free, which made it so much more enjoyable. As a sweet surprise, they brought out an Ube Cloud Pie that wasn't on the menu, and wow. I don't usually go for desserts with ice cream, but this one won me over. It was the perfect way to end the night. The crowd was lively, and the karaoke energy was infectious. Overall, such a fun, delicious night.

Fun tasty feast!! Table lined with banana leaves and food placed on your table to be eaten the Filipino way! With your hands! And shared by everyone!!! Dishes were good and the Pork Lechon in pig blood was my favorite! The pork adobo was tender and tasty. The Shrimp and veggies in coconut milk had a nice curry-ish flavor. The fried calamari was from pre-made frozen and way overcooked! Dry and chewy! But all in all the food was good. But the dishes are small for the price. The Kamayan way to eat is a fun experience! Service was good and friendly. Friday nights they have Karaoke while dining. Tip: If you choose to eat your meal the Kamayan way, you must call ahead to make reservation so they can prepare the meal before you arrive. Otherwise just show up and order from the menu. Please support this family run restaurant!!

The crispy pata tasted good as usual but the pancit is disappointing, was a letdown. It was dry, no vegetable and didn't taste like proper pancit at all. I ordered one tray and even with soy sauce and calamansi It was still hard to eat. I wont be returning.

I apologize for this review; its going to be a long one! I've never written a review from the actual establishment...but here we are. We had booked a Kamayan style Father's Day lunch a week in advance for 12:30pm. Party of 16. My Father-in-law was so excited to eat here, that he sent screenshots of kamayan/boodle fights to us throughout the week. Our entire party was present at 12:30 and we were ready to eat. We stood at the entrance and not one staff member even looked our way. The guy behind the counter seemed like he was trying not to make eye contact with us. He was humdrum, and seemed annoyed and did not want to be bothered. There were several other parties there of different sizes, so we understood that they were busy - it's Father's Day. We noticed a table set up in the corner for 14 people. We approached the guy behind the counter and let him know that we had a reservation for 16. He mumbled something and after a few minutes, he dragged another table over and two more chairs. The one other lady working there laid out some banana leaves and set them on the table. Mind you, this was 20 minutes after we had arrived. Our party of 16 was still standing awkwardly by the entrance. We had not been told anything; like, "We will seat you soon", "Sorry for the inconvenience", NO INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL. Again, I went up to the guy behind the counter, who seemed to be fiddling with a whole lot of nothing, and asked if we could be seated. We were literally blocking the entrance at this point. He told me that they still had to set up the food on the table. Another 15 minutes pass, and finally, the guy behind the counter wheels out the food and sets it out on the table. I'm just curious as to how their system works. If you have all these reservations for a set day, time, prepaid reservation (we had already selected our menu), you would think to have prepared ahead of time. This process did not go smoothly at all. If you are short-staffed, behind on orders, whatever, a heads up would suffice. Forty minutes after our reservation time of 12:30 pm, we were finally able to sit down to eat. The woman working there never offered our table any drinks, let alone, water. We had to flag down the waitress for water and at one point, my SIL had to waitress our table and fill our glasses herself (I dont even know where she found two pitchers of water). The tip should have been given to my sister-in-law instead! No gloves, no napkins, no service was given to us. Not once did they check on us if we needed anything. NOT EVEN A SMILE was given our way. I chalked it up to being short-staffed. Seemed like only a grand total of 3 people were on the floor. But regardless of it all, THERE IS NO EXCUSE to treat customers who are giving you business and chose your restaurant to celebrate Father's Day poorly! We were understanding, polite and patient. We were more than what this establishment deserved. Unfortunately, it went from bad to worse. The food was cold and it didn't seem like we were served a decent amount. We were already talking about having Mexican food right after. I must admit, SOME of the food was good, but not enough for me to come back. We were so disappointed, but we made sure not to let our Dad know that. We didn't want to ruin his day. I felt bad for others in our group, who have never experienced Filipino kamayan (they are not Filipino). It was not the best experience for them and they have said it would be the first and last time they eat here. I have no choice but to give this place one star, because there is no option for 0 stars. I might have given them another chance had they apologized for having us wait and given us poor service, but they did not feel the need to and sadly, I don't feel the need to give them another chance. TIPS FOR VILLA MANILA STAFF: Please acknowledge your patrons once they've entered the restaurant. Atleast look up and smile and say, "I'll be with you in a few minutes". Check on your patrons every once in awhile to see if they need anything. Be friendly and smile. I am beyond frustrated. Very unprofessional.

Such a great find! Was in the area for business and saw a sign that drew my attention. "Kamayan" is a traditional Filipino feast with food served directly on the table (which the table is covered by banana leaves). No plates! No eating utensils! The food is eaten with your hands! This would bring anyone back to childhood memories, if you could remember such a thing. Anyway, we didn't order ahead to enjoy the Kamayan experience, however, the food was amazingly flavorful. We arrived after the lunch rush on a Friday afternoon and we were craving breakfast. Luckily they serve breakfast until 3! Perfect! Ordered the mix and match silog which gives you a choice of meats, along with garlic fried rice and two fried eggs. I chose the tapa and longonisa. The tapa was marinated and grilled exceptionally well. Nice and tender. The longonisa wasn't overly fatty. Paired with a bit of that rice and a bit of egg with a dip in the vinegar, I was in heaven! Service was spot on as it wasn't very busy. However everyone was really personable and friendly. Filled water whenever it was low and checked on us periodically but not overwhelmingly. They had a small stage with karaoke on weekends. Would love to go back for another visit and experience Kamayan and karaoke here! Keep on Yelp'n!

Came here for dinner because I was craving sinigang and their fried chicken with garlic rice and was very disappointed in the taste of the sinigang and the bihon noodles we ordered. The sinigang tasted off and the veggies were still kind of raw like the eggplant and it had such a strong pork smell and taste. The noodles were beyond horrible... one bite of it and the noodles had this extreme expired / old taste to the noodles I was so disappointed because the kids normally want / like noodles. The noodles were not edible at all and we didn't touch it after trying it, such a waste of food and money... the chicken was good though I enjoyed that along with the garlic rice but after eating the noodles and the soup not being that great, it was an experience and aftertaste I cannot forget. Really hope they work on their recipes, this place used to be so busy and hit spot to stop by for Filipino food. They re-decorated the place and layout is a bit different, I did enjoy the ambiance and friendly customer service.

Beef nilaga is salty and taste odd not comforting like I was expecting when you taste the broth. Miki bihon is malansa it taste like the meat is raw and shrimp is raw taste or they didn't have the time to sautee it well. The Tortang Talong is not good at all they didn't have time to mix the egg with egg plant the eggs is just around the eggplant they should taste it themselves. The garlic rice is good and the crispy pata

After experiencing another facility that was so heartbreaking it left me questioning everything. I wanted to do something meaningful to thank this incredible team. A card didn't seem like enough. Flowers fade. But good food? Good food creates memories. I ordered the sisig, pancit, and their famous signature lumpia rolls, along with pandesal from Valerio's. Ordering was a breeze. I placed my order at 9:30 a.m. and picked everything up at 4:00 p.m. Three small trays turned out to be an incredible amount of food. I planned for 10 people, but it fed a whole lot more as many from different units gathered to share. The moment that sealed it for me happened before a single tray was opened. A nurse I had never met walked over and said, "Oh, you went to Tita's. I recognized their lumpia." That gave me chills because I knew I had chosen the right place. The food tasted like it came straight from Mamasan's kitchen, authentic, comforting, and made with love. It seems that whenever I get called to Chula Vista, National City or Mira Mesa, there's always a lola waiting for me with a broken PC and a plate of pancit or a freshly-fried stack of turon. Years ago, knowing that those friendly, insistent ladies will offer to feed me, no matter the time of day, I started scheduling appointments to their houses at lunchtime, because, well, it's just bad manners to say "no, thanks, I already ate." On my own, I learned to love kare-kare and the popular Pinoy variants of pork. I still crave the Rellenong Alimango (stuffed crab) I had, years ago, at a Filipino food stall in Singapore. After the bars close, I'll often hunt down a plate of sisig. And I'll follow any such meal with something sweet, like hopia, halo-halo, or anything ube. But I'm also a big fan of Filipino breakfast, and that's where Zarlito's comes in. I've never eaten there after 10 am, and while I'm sure I'm missing a lot of good stuff, I've been happy with the breakfasts I've been served, not least because the ladies running the place are kind, always seeming tickled to see a large white man enthusiastically chomping through plates of their food. Any -silog will do the trick. Zarlito's always offers great food at a decent price. I'm glad the place is still around, and whenever I'm in the area, I try to stop in. You should, too.

We tried their Beef Kare-Kare, Sotanghon Guisado, Large Crispy Pata, Pork Dinuguan, and 3 bowls of rice. Everything was delicious but the one I enjoyed eating a lot was their CRISPY PATA, very nice crisp of the pork skin, the meat was well-cooked, not dry nor undercooked, just perfect. Service was friendly from our server and also the man in charge of the Karaoke was very nice, offering us to sing and even saying thanks to us for dining when we were leaving. Plenty of parking around.
