I've been a fan of this place for years and always liked the cfs and burgers. But it's been year or two. Went for a simple burger today for a late lunch. Surprised and disappointed: it was a 'sat-around-for-a-while burger i.e., Not fresh & hot and the build-it fixin's were meager and a bit stale...wilted. Should have slammed it back down on the bar. Love the food, the prices and the music. It gets really crowded so get there early. Zydeco fans love this spot and it's a great place to bring your tourist family and friends for an authentic southern experience. I always order the catfish platter and I've seen others order the fried shrimp platter and chicken fried steak meal. Either option you won't go wrong. The drinks could be better that would be my biggest criticism. Too bad I never have room for dessert but they look pretty good. read more

I've gone to Jax many times over the past decade. Overall it was pretty good, sometimes it was better than others. I think the interior needs a good overall, make the lighting better, replace the floor, redo the bar area, and you will make this place shine. Food and service were usually terrific. My boyfriend and I finally ate a Jax after passing it nearly 50 times in the last few months. The chicken fried chicken AND the chicken fried steak were both huge and delicious. Also, the white gravy is thick and very tasty. It came with fries, but you can get a baked potato for a buck extra so we did. The potato was a little hard, but I managed to eat the entire thing. Our food was ready within five minutes and was nice and hot. The bottle beer was only $2.00 which I think is a great deal compared to the majority of the places around town. The atmosphere is relaxed and there are several t.v.'s on the walls. There is also a nice patio, but we sat inside being it was a little chilly out. I will definitely be going back to Jax in the near future. Enjoy! read more

I really love their quesadillas! It's very flavorful and delicious every time I order it. Parking can be diffucult and the music gets really loud on the weekend. They have an extensive menu which can be overwhelming. All and all, this place feels homey and the food comes out pretty fast! read more

Super yummy and definitely one of my favorite places to go!! I love their southwest salad, you can pick fried or grilled chicken and it always comes with 2 cups of dressing. I never use both cups but I feel like its great that they are skimpy with it. For the price, you can't beat it! read more

It was a bit loud inside, and I wish they could come up with a better way to deliver the orders than calling out the numbers, but the food was great, especially considering that the prices were barely above fast food prices. I live pretty close to this location, but used to work close to the bellaire location and the menus are the same. I feel like they need to eliminated 6/8's of the menu because there's just too much stuff on there. Until this week, I was always dissapointed in whatever I got that wasn't a burger... I got the fajita nachos and they were really good, but the portion, like almost everything else at jax, was ridiclously big. It was served with a flavorful pico de gallo (heavy lime, so good) and healthy helping of guac and drenched in queso. It also had some grilled chicken to make it "fajita style". Next time, I'll just get the regualar nachose because I don't think I even at the chicken as the pico was the star of these nachos. Also, I'd get it with the queso on the side because two mins later all the chips were soggy, but nothing a fork couldn't fix. Thanks to the cashier who recommended them. In the past, Ive gotten the greek salad and it was gross, but my friend got a romain salad that looked really good it had a fruity vinagrette with pecans and blue cheese. read more

This place was pretty darn awesome. It's a nice, family atmosphere, even with the loud zydeco band playing. I went on a Friday night and had a toe tapping good time. The food comes out super fast and the portions are large. Try the turtle cheesecake...it is to die for. Good luck finding nearby parking, however. Jax is a great place for casual fare. Food is always good and the menu has a pretty good variety of flavors without being too eclectic. None of the food really ranks as the Best of their respective categories, but everything is definitely well above average. Ingredients are always fresh as far as I can tell. Prices are very reasonable especially for what you are getting. No question of quality vs. quantity here, as you get both in spades. Don't be scared by the line out the door everyday at lunch. With 2 cash registers and an experienced staff manning all the food stations, things move pretty quick here. The Friday night crush is a different matter though. Really more of a place to grab a drink and have a good time instead of dining on those nights. Parking isn't as bad as it used to be either now that they have expanded it by about double. A solid 4 stars throughout in all relevant categories. read more

Very good food and excellent service. My only real issue was the amount, ... way too much. I know it's Texas but as a traveler I felt a little wasteful. My wife and daughter had healthier options and both were very pleased. My son and I had the pancake pot pie. Everything in it was good but the savory to sweet ratio was a little too sweet for my taste. Perhaps two pancakes v three and a bit more bacon or sausage. (But I think a plate of bacon could use a little more bacon so maybe I'm a touch outside of the norm). Well worth the try. read more

just attended a get together with over a hundred extra people than this place normally hosts this past friday. there were 6 ceiling fans that were on low speed and only the 7th large fan which was by the food pick up counter was the only one on high speed. how insensitive and inconsiderate to the customers when it was steaming hot outside and with the open door leading to patio it was hotter inside this place with the extra bodies in there. not one manager or employee ever turned any of the fans up which they should have been up already. oh and dont let me forget to mention their method of setting the food orders on a counter for people to breath over or mistakenly touch your food to find out it was not theirs is something the health dept will be notified of with the video i took to show them. disgusting. read more

This is a good place for lunch especially if your in a hurry. You pay when you place your order when you walk in. In 10 mins your food is ready and delicious! Their salads are so good and fresh. There hamburgers are tasty and juicy. The best thing on the menu is the ribeye steak it is so tender with so much flavor and the bake potato is nice and soft with the right amount of toppings. I wish there was one more closer to where I am so I can go everyday lol :) read more

I was in the neighborhood, hungry and in a hurry. I hadn't heard anything about Jax before entering, but was very pleasantly surprised by the experience. The food was good, served fast, the portions large and the prices reasonable. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a beer; my companion the chicken quesadilla. My burger was very good, large well seasoned patty, with a generous amount of thick bacon and all the fix'ns on the side. The fries were hot, crisp and plentiful. The quesadillas were packed with chicken and melted cheese served with plenty of sour cream and guacamole, very tasty. I will definitely be eating here again. read more
