Went today for their crawfish. $10 a pound is not terrible, but there's really no option for customization other than sides. The crawfish was WAY too salty and way too spicy it was hard to enjoy the actual crawfish. They were also slightly grainy. I've been here before though, and their food is pretty good. I've had their catfish before, it was so delicious. Parking lot is big, so you'll find a space, and the outdoor seating is nice. read more

Cactus needs to rest, just like me. Met a friend for lunch on a semi- cloudy Monday. It's close to both of us and my friend wanted a pet friendly spot to bring her Carly. Got there around 12 and it was relatively quiet. A few work men sitting at the bar. There is a patio and we took a table out there with the doggie. We are fans of Cedar Creek and this was a smaller version. Order at the bar and they bring the food to the table. The bar guy was super friendly. My Order: chicken quesadilla, chicken wings, tater tots (took most of the food home lol ) Chicken quesadilla (5/5) - this is what I order at Cedar Creek bc I love it. Perfectly cooked comes with pico, guacamole, sour cream and a delicious spicy green sauce. Wings (4/5) - mango habernero - they were slightly crisp and were 10 to an order; not spicy enough for me but still very tasty Tator tots (4/5) - who doesn't like a pile of tots, they were a bit oily but still very crispy Had a great time. Sooooo yea, I went for brunch and the food was very basic. I wouldn't come back for brunch. The nachos didn't have enough cheese and they'll charge for extra. Basic breakfast - the eggs had no seasoning. The queso was very thick so eat it quick. Surprisingly the breakfast taco was the best think we had. The brisket has was pretty good too. Service - you order at the bar, but they're not super accommodating when things aren't right. The crowd is reflective of a specific demographic, that I don't fit. They always have a lively crowd on game nights/football season. (The Houston Clemson Club meets here) There's food and drink specials almost daily featuring a full bar. (checkout their happy hour) Parking is plenty outside and it's really the only neighborhood bar within this part of the heights and Spring Branch east. You do have to order at the bar, seating can be limited if it's busy but they also feature a decent size patio (dog friendly). This would have been a solid 4-star experience if not for the bartender. I went with a few friends; the drinks were good, the food was solid, and the kitchen staff was genuinely friendly. Unfortunately, the bartender openly complained to other customers about our group ordering cocktails instead of beers. My friend and I decided to visit Cactus Cove on a Wednesday evening during their happy hour. I didn't realize when selecting this place that you have to order at the bar and they don't serve at the tables. While it wasn't ideal for what we wanted, the menu looked good and we decided to stay. The inside had the atmosphere of your casual neighborhood bar/ grill and the outside had a casual ice-house type feel. As I had my pup with me, we sat outside and watched some of the games on the TVs. When going to the bar to order, they were out of a few things but we were able to find something we each wanted. I ordered a house wine and my friend ordered a draft beer which were both reasonably priced on the happy hour menu ($3 Beer, $5 Wine). Come on Thursday for their steak night plus $25 bottles of wine! You order at the bar and grab a seat. I liked the comfy couch area that gives a lounge feel and is great to hang with friends. I went to Cactus Cove Bar and Grill on a Tuesday evening for Happy Hour. I happened to be there on the night of an Astros game so most people there were watching and shouting at the various televisions placed throughout the venue. The venue was quaint and it felt like a nice hole in the wall type of place. You do have to order everything at the bar which can feel a little inconvenient to have to go to and fro to from your seat to the bar. The service is fine. There's staff that grabs your plates out the way and the bartenders were nice. The frito pie was good. I would order it again but it's not better than frito pie I'd make at home. The cocktail was about $7 and it's described as a bourbon peach cider jam with lemon and mint. It was okay but I'm not sure I'd order it again. I will say, the bartender had a fractured wrist and had to make the drink with one hand. I think that in itself it quite impressive. Overall I'd recommend Cactus Cove for a chill spot to drink and watch a sports game. read more

I have been to this establishment approximately 4 times, for brunch and after work. There is a variety of food options available and I love their wings and draft beer options. This bar is very close to my job so my coworkers and I go at least once a week. This place has very good food, and amazing drinks! The bartenders here really know what they are doing. They are also very friendly and always make an effort to remember their regulars. I have tried their salads, tacos, chicken, nachos, chicken strips and not a single dish has ever disappointed. Also, they are currently offering crawfish! 8.50 lb right now and it is delicious! If you're like me and like your crawfish really really spicy, you will love it! I will say the only downside to this place is that it can get really packed when the post-work crowd shows up and there are only 2 bartenders on at all times (from what I've seen) so sometimes it can take a while to get a drink. I am guessing people have hidden their numbers before. Right now, they have $5/lb crawfish Mon-Wed minimum purchase of 2lbs. Corn, potato, sausage even extra spice costs extra. We decided on 6lbs of crawfish which is a Cajun boil only one spicy level... which I consider medium to mild. We also got an order of boudin balls and fries. The fries were good. Most of the fries were crispy. The boudin balls had a very crispy outside... I wish there were more meat bits... I didn't really see/taste any... the rice had good flavor. Most of the crawfish was a decent size... I had a hand full of tiny ones. Overall crawfish was good. Service was friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Good size parking lot. second time in 4 weeks we went for brunch and the Prosecco splits were flat. Today, 3 were completely flat, the fourth was partially flat, and the fifth had some bubbles. This also occurred in early December and they apologized then and said they had recently switched the brand of Proseccos. There were plenty of complaints about service and mention that the food was just "okay". Well... let me start by saying we only had their steak, and it was de-lish! Even the side of broccoli was tasty. The baked potato, however, was light on the fixings, so I asked for extra (note that they charge you). Service was good but not great. The waitress was super nice and accommodating, but we found ourselves hunting for her a few times. Overall, it was good, and I'd return if I were in the area. We got gravy and honey mustard as dipping sauces and those were very good as well. We opted for onion rings as the side. We ordered the crawfish since everyone was raving how good they were and it was ok. They weren't spicy at all, just seasoned. The corn and potatoes tasted like they were cooked separately from the crawfish. Wouldn't come back here for the crawfish. Better off going to Boilhouse way down the street.
