I keep coming back, but if I'm being honest, it's rarely for the food. The real draw is that it shares space with Barrel & Stave, which consistently has a solid lineup of beers on tap, and the little back patio is actually a great spot to hang out for a while. It's an easy, low-effort place to meet up, grab a drink, and enjoy the weather. The food is all just fine. Totally edible. Just not memorable. The chicken sandwiches are made with their tenders and clearly have fans. they've never quite won me over, and most things I've tried land in that place where seasoning doesn't live. The chicken taquitos were exceptionally bad. Smothered in goop and still tasted like I had CoVid. A good friend of mine kept raving about how good this chicken place and really wanted me to try it. Initially I was a bit skeptical. When you've had some great chicken sandwiches from places like Howlin' Ray's, the bar is set unrealistically high. After looking at the photos yesterday, I realized that Jaxon's isn't a direct comparison, so that tempered my expectations. A more apt comparison would be something like Raising Cane's which doesn't even come CLOSE to Jaxon's. Anyway, we ordered 3 tenders and a Jaxon's chicken sandwich with the Hot spice level and upgraded the fries to cheese fries for 99¢. For my sauce I *had* to get the Carolina Reaper BBQ. Not gonna lie, I'm not really big on chicken tenders and the breading wasn't the type that I prefer (craggly and crunchy breading is my go-to), but all of that was irrelevant once I took a bite. First off, it was insanely hot which is always a good sign, but more importantly it was super tasty! Honestly I was just raw doggin' the tendies at times because the seasoning on them alone sufficed, plus I don't like to douse my food in sauce anyway. The sandwich was also really good! The bread they used was soft and the taste of the bread complimented the rest of the sandwich very well. Coleslaw was great and was a nice contrast. The chicken tendies inside were also delicious. The cheese fries upgrade was worth it. Again, I saw the crinkle fries and was skeptical. Usually they're very starchy, floppy, and bland. Jaxon's gets them super crispy and seasons them perfectly. Big back tip: Mop up the cheese sauce with the tendies and fries if you have any left. The only minor piece of feedback I'd like to give are about the tenders in the sandwich. I think it would work better if the tenders were just one big piece of chicken instead. While I was biting into the sandwich the tenders would push to the left or right and eventually fall out. I get it though. The tenders are the star of the menu and having to dedicate a whole new cut of chicken just for sandwiches probably isn't practical. And one last thing is the spice level, but this is purely preferential and I'm the outlier when it comes to spice. I wish Hot was actually hot (or if they had an extra hot option) and it would be nice if the reaper BBQ was spicier, but again, I'm just a dude who will actively seek out the hottest and spiciest sauces/foods I can put in my mouth, so maybe don't take my word for it. Service was excellent! I will definitely be back again to try their other sandwiches! Apparently this was once a burger spot and they do offer burgers on the menu, so I have plenty of excuses to come back and try other things! read more

Jaxon's chicken is a fun, casual spot with a great outside patio and amazing chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, chicken wraps, burgers, and some of the best mac & cheese around! This is a great stop for me with my pup because they're extremely pet friendly. This visit I had the Chick Wich sandwich and it was delicious. I really like the food here and I come pretty often. Today on Day of Music/ Father's Day it is undeniably busier than usual. You can tell the staff is overwhelmed and it was difficult getting out orders- but regardless the staff remains positive and will make it up to you. Discovered this place while going to watch Vikings game on a Sunday morning. Heard they do some pretty legit chicken tendies and had "chicken fries" on the menu. Curiosity sparked and decided to give it a go! The fries came loaded and in reality this order can feed about 3-4 people! Heavy, rich, buffalo flavored chicken tenders sprinkled on top of oozing cheese fries. The Mac and cheese on top created an overload of flavors. The chicken tenders added on top were really juicy and flavorful. I will have to come back and try the chicken tenders next time. Around lunchtime the place had a lot of to-go orders. The shop has plenty of seating and an outdoor patio in the back. Lots of space for parties for sure! Food came out quick and the owner was there serving it all up himself! So many places to eat in the area that it is easy to miss a place like Jaxon's. I ordered the chicken fries and my wife didn't know if it would be enough for both of us so she ordered a 2 piece chicken combo with sweet potato fries. But the chicken fries would have been enough and it was really good too. We both enjoyed it. 2 pcs combo went home to the kids :) We sat outside and got to hear the music for the place next door. That was a pleasant surprise. They have some great specials on beer too but we were not drinking [lent]. Service was great and the place is really clean including their restrooms. Came here for take out on a weekday so it wasn't too busy or least probably before the lunch rush so I was in and out of there within 10 minutes. The owner was manning the cash register. He was very friendly and welcoming. Ordered a 3 piece tenders with upgraded cajon fries that the wife wanted. Also got some mac since she loves her mac. The two sauces I got were jaxon's and the garlic herb parm. Everything came out hot and ready to take home within minutes. Tenders were not too crispy on the outside but it took time to get home so can't complain. I had ordered the tenders on mac before which were chopped up so I had no idea that the whole tenders were fairly large. The 3 tender meal with fries was enough to feed both of us for lunch. Tenders were fairly moist inside and cooked through and dipping it in the sauce gave it more flavor! Fries were decent since wife only really likes shoe string fries so bias'd opinion. Mac was comfort food level, portion was good to pair with tenders! Definitely worth it next time she wants tenders. As first timers we were not disappointed! We tried the chicken tenders and Smashburger. The chicken tenders were very large, all white meat and super flavorful and juicy, they offer many different dipping sauces to your liking. The Smashburger was also very good, freshly made. The Smashburger is double patty burger, but not too large so don't be afraid of it! Both came with french fries which were also tasty. Surprisingly, they have a huge menu with many options, including salads, tacos and taquitos! I was torn on what to order but now I will have to make another trip because the taquitos do look amazing! I got the combo with their crinkle fries, which were perfectly crisp and tasty. I really enjoyed my lunch and couldn't wait to go back, definitely wanted to try something with heat. The second time (2 weeks later) I tried their Mac & Cheese bowl with "spicy" level spice. I liked that more than the plain, it's the perfect amount of heat for me. After I told my friend about Jaxon's Chicken a while back, he had been craving it. To my satisfaction, we both loved their delicious food. When we arrived, the cashier kindly took our order and even made time to make small talk with us individually. After a long day at work, I appreciated her welcoming and quality customer service. I remember that when I came here for the first time in the spring of 2023, the cashier also kindly took my order. In this review, I want commend Jaxon's Chicken staff for all the work they do for their customers. I ordered the 3 Tenders Meal ($14.99) which came with 3 large chicken tenders (3/4 lbs), crinkle fries, pickles, and 2 chosen dipping sauces (Cajun and Polynesian). Interestingly, you can order 66 different combinations of 2 free sauces. Theoretically if we came back 65 more times, the chicken flavors would taste differently each visit. The tenders also have different spice levels: delicious (no spice), spicy, and hot. The tenders tasted really savory, and the sauces helped balance the flavor. The crinkle fries were solid and met my expectations. As for the ambience, the indoor environment with rock music and sports playing in the background allows for fun times, good pictures, and warmth from the autumn cold. In sunny weather, the patio allows for more quiet time and conversations. Overall, because of Jaxon's generous portions, great flavors, and excellent customer service, we definitely want to come back. Side note: Apparently, the takeout box they give you has a punctured hole in a corner for ventilation. We didn't know this, so when I agreed with my friend that he ask for a new box, we cringe-laughed at ourselves when the cashier kindly told us about the puncture. Travel note: People taking transit can arrive to the Harbor-Commonwealth stop via OCTA bus route 43, just a three-minute walk away. OCTA bus route 143 arrives at the Harbor-Chapman stop, a 4-minute walk away from the restaurant. This time, we parked at the Wilshire Parking Structure at 114 E. Wilshire Ave. for free. read more

Recently moved to the area and wanted to check this place out. I ordered the Jumbo 2 Piece Tenders Meal while my husband got the Mac & Cheese Chix Bowl. We appreciated the patio seating, as we were able to relax there with our dog. We came on a Friday evening so we were able to hear the great tunes of live music coming from the establishment next door as well. The chicken was so juicy and tender, the perfect consistency.
