Today was Jay Bird's opening at the Venetian Food Hall. I've heard alot about this hot chicken as being the best chicken sandwich out there so I had to check it out for myself. It's located in the Venetian food court. I had the chicken sandwich with coleslaw and fries. The sandwich was amazing; the chicken crispy and juicy, the slaw just right and the brioche bread was perfect. The golden spicy fries were quite tasty. Very satisfying indeed. The service at this place was excellent. The place was very clean and bright. All-in-all Jay Birds at the Venetian gave me a great first impression. Will definitely come back to try the other sandwiches....and maybe with a hotter sauce next time.

There's a small kitchen area where the menu is and where you place your order. Cooks are viciously making the orders that others are placing, and you can hear the constant sizzling of hot dogs on their grills. They have bar seating on the other side along with a bunch of tables close by but they were all taken since it was prime dinner time at 7:30pm on The Strip and people were walking all around the area. We decided to eat over at a nearby taco joint in the end. Both of us got their D.U.I. Dog, which has pastrami, carne asada, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, a ton of cilantro and chipotle aioli (a mayonnaise kind of sauce). Very packed with flavor with all the meats inside, and the cheese melts so well inside the hot dog. They even put this inside a relatively big carton container, the same kind I've seen the staff put their D.U.I. Fries in... holy crap those are some huge portions! For $18 before tax though, this hot dog was already slightly massive for its size, at just about a foot long. Very nice start to a great time in Vegas! Also a great hot dog stand with immensely tasty dogs.

These a**holes, working here, thought they could PLAY in my face but I got their a**es back good by escalating the matter at hand to the SECURITY guard on premise. SO SAD, that you have to go tell the security because a manager and his employees ARENT BEING PROFESSIONAL while working. I had to pick up an order here tonight as I always do, never usually have an issue, but tonight all 3 guys in those pics I posted, GOT SASSYYYYYYYY, was tripping and not paying attention!!! I was ACCURATE & I knew I was at the RIGHT location and that was the first issue, the GUY ROBERTO or whatever his name tag says, said to me I was AT THE WRONG LOCATION, and I told him no, I can't even understand what he's saying because he had BROKEN ENGLISH, he must had got offended but he already made a mistake. His co worker tried to defend him, another one with broken English, and tried to be SASSY and tell me "I'm racist" for saying: I can't understand your language and what ur saying.. BOTH WERE WRONG!!! &&&& very unprofessional because they LIED AND SAID: they didn't have my order at this location!! Making it a big deal and scene so I said: GET ME THE MANAGER!!! Manager was SOOOOOOO RUDE AND SOOO RAGETY!!!! Omggggg I thought Dave was doing much better than this!!! He was acting like themmmmm! Didn't take anything I said SERIOUSLY! So I said ok I'll call cooperate and he saID BYE, I said bye and guess what??? GOD CAME & BINGO: SECURITY!!!!!! I told security and he said oh HECK NO, I'll go inside with you and handle things for you so you get ur order because we both looked and noticed this was the right location. Security handled things and my order was there all of a sudden and they were still barking wrong as f***... and security said he will directly document it and forward it to his manger and they will reach out to me because it's wrong of them to be unprofessional no matter what!!! They wrong! Hahahahahahahgahay I love when I get my LICK back!!!! Don't play in my face ever again!!!!!!!

But hey, it's Vegas! $46 seems wild for two dogs (well, only one was an actual dog), I sure hope it's worth it...hold on while I take a bite... The veggie dog came with hummus, pico and sauerkraut. Not my favorite combination on a hot dog, So I just got ketchup, mustard and onions. And it was pretty good. The crinkle fries were seasoned, but they tasted like chicken (or at least cooked in the same oil as chicken), so I didn't eat them. The Detroit Coney was everything EXCEPT a Detroit coney. It wasn't a hot dog, but sausage. The chili was chili--actual chili. And if you have ever been to Detroit, then you know the chili is not "real" chili, but more like a hot dog spread. If you aren't from the D, it's hard to explain. This chili was an upgrade, for sure. This dog came with mustard, chopped onions and cheese--similar to a Detroit coney, but the bun was more like a French roll instead of a hot dog bun. The bread could have, and should have been steamed. It wasn't and that took away from the "Detroit Coney" concept. It's a "well, at least I ate" kind of meal. Not noteworthy, but it filled us up, I guess.

In fact, you're going to have to overlook some things to keep yourself from becoming too hyper-critical. Anyway, a hotdog without toppings (no charge for ketchup, mustard, relish) will run you $3.49 though they do have a special for $5.00 bucks that includes a drink and fries. Sounds like a steal to me. I ordered both a hotdog ($3.49) and a corndog. ($2.19 I think) as a little snack. The hotdog wasn't at all bad. Of course it didn't have a nice snap to the casing and it was a tad soft, but it was serviceable especially for being so cheap. The corndog was quite tasty actually. Honestly, I'm not sure what people are expecting. The signage unapologetically advertises the price of the hotdog. Lol.
