They really went all out this time! I have been hiring Distinctive Catering for decades now because I know that I can count on them to come through every single time! First of all, they arrived early, which made me feel relaxed as the host. They were a bunch of busy bees, dressed in their freshly pressed uniforms and looking every bit the professional chefs and serve staff, setting up the Tri-Tip carving station & Italian pasta bar, and creating an atmosphere of abundance and delicious beauty! Each station looked and smelled amazing! My guests didn't even wait until our emcee announced that the food was ready! lol They just followed the mouthwatering aromas emanating from the stations! In the Italian pasta bar, each guest's plate was made to order by their creative chefs and satisfied each one's preferred taste combination, whether it be chicken breast, Italian sausage, shrimp, spinach, mushrooms, fresh basil, sun-dried tomatoes, a myriad of other fresh veggies, garlic, Parmesan cheese and delectable sauces, like pesto, marinara, vodka and Alfredo! The tri-tip carving station was manned by another set of smiling chefs including their famous Caesar salad with Parmesan cheese, delicious garlic bread and extra large platters of fresh, seasonal fruit! Silver Spoons made everything happen, put the numerous gorgeous bouquets that people brought away in the perfect vases, which Scott or his team somehow found on their own without bothering me. They made everything look delicious despite the unbelievable heat, and then, on top of everything else - everything WAS delicious and delightful. The food was fantastic. And Scott Tessler and his team all talked to our guests in such a nice way. It was fun to have them there. We have used Silver Spoons intermittently over the years - for our daughter's wedding in Malibu in 2015, and now again, to introduce her baby to our friends and family. I'm beginning to think we should do this more often - the results from Scott and Silver Spoons are outstanding. After our event was over, exhausted, we came back to our kitchen, and discovered scads of perfectly wrapped leftovers - Steve and I simultaneously went hunting for that incredible mustard - oh, no, did they leave us some? The food, the presentation, interaction with guests, following of dietary/allergy restrictions - all perfect. We had magnificent vegetables for the vegans, gluten-free dishes of all kinds that were superb, regular dishes that were wonderful - the food was great. And the service is exceptional. *****TLDR- uncooked falafel*****…read more It's the first Greek restaurant I have been to where the falafel was completely uncooked. I have eaten dry falafels and under cooked falafels in the past but never came across falafels where the inside was a raw slurry like paste. Too high cooking heat, too much water in the batter can cause this. Disappointed to say the least as this place is highly recommended by yelpers and made its place in Yelp top 100 as well. I did talk to our waitress about the falafel, she agreed they were uncooked and she got us a couple of extra as compensation. Unfortunately the new batch was more raw and undercooked than what we were originally served. They seriously need to figure out what's wrong and fix it. Though I hate wasting food, all the falafels were inedible and we had to throw them. Falafels aside, rest of the items were actually pretty decent. Barring the pita bread which tasted non descript, the chicken was beautifully cooked, the sauces were all amazing. The garlic dip was the best. They also had a green chilli sauce, I loved the heat from this one. The rice was unique as well, some kind of herbaceous flavor and nice separate grains of rice. Not a fan of fries but the ones here were actually delicious. Nice crispy coating and with the garlic dip the combo was stellar.
