    Chole bhatura
    Ashwini A.

SERVICE - located near union square on 13th street and 2nd ave intersection - easy to get a table as a walk in on a weekend lunch though may be more crowded on weekday dinner - service was very friendly and helpful - food served relatively soon after ordering - ambiance good for a semi casual meal MENU - North Indian appetizers and entrees - some vegetarian/vegan options - pricey FOOD - Chole bhatura (5/10): chickpea curry with two large pieces of fried bread. This was from their special menu so it does not appear on the regular lunch menu. When it came out, I found it odd that the Chole was topped with potato and paneer cubes that did not look to be cooked. The bhatura was also very pale and lacked the thin crispy top that is typical for bhatura. The Chole was flavorful and tasted authentic. There was too much bhatura for the amount of Chole given. I felt like the bhatura was soft and squishy rather than being light and tender. WOULD I GO BACK? Likely not. I was not wowed by the selection of veg friendly dishes and the quality of the fried food.

I love the Prestige Dinner options - we opted for the 3 course. To be honest, the appetizers were a tad underwhelming (Chat & Golgappa), but the entrees were very flavorful and delicious. The Kashmiri Kofta was my favorite item on the evening - the sauce these little fritters were served in was delicious. The Saag was also a nice addition, and I enjoyed getting to try both of the daals. Naan is a must, however, I found the chili cheese naan to be a bit bland - sticking to the classic is just fine. Indian desserts are not my cup of tea, so I'm not the best to judge these. The Tukra (imagine a butter cake) was pretty good.

I've never really had Indian food before so I was excited to come here. My friend and I came on a Saturday and did lunch restaurant week for $30 a person. I have a nut allergy so they were very conscious about. My first choices happened to have a lot of nuts so they flagged that and provided alternatives. The menu did not specify though when I originally ordered. What we got: - GOLGAPPA: I liked the mango one the best. We were instructed to pour halfway into the bites. The mango and pineapple were similar. - KASUNDI CHICKEN TIKKA: I think they had to substitute the type of chicken because the original one had nuts. This was good and Nike the sauce it came in! - RAILWAY MUTTON CURRY: I would pass on this. The sauce was nothing special and the lamb was just lamb. Not much flavor. - GOAN PRAWN CURRY: this was really good!! The shrimp is already deshelled. Super flavorful. We got garlic naan to dip everything in and it was yummy. Meal came with rice and lentils. I was honestly pretty full. - KESARI KHEER: couldn't eat cause it has nuts - KULFI DUO: couldn't eat cause it has nuts Since I couldn't eat any of the desserts they gave me the mango drink (mango smoothie)! I appreciated that. I had a great experience overall!

On a cold, snowy night, we decided it needed some comfort Indian food. Off the bat, we went for a couple of portions of the Galouti kebab, which was a must have recommendation from friends. The galouti did not disappoint - melt in the mouth stuff, excellent flavours and the curd was perfect to cut the spice. A true party for our palates. The rest of the food was good, without being great. The fish tikka was made with salmon for reasons I did not understand as it left a fishy flavour. The bheja masala lacked a punch. The chicken biryani however was warm and comforting. Highly recommend the drinks there, we had the jamun, mulethi and peepli. All top notch. The service was seamless and we were tended to very well. Left jazba with our hearts and stomachs full!

Stopped by Jazba with a friend after a comedy show nearby and grabbed seats at the bar. We both opted for zero-proof cocktails and ordered the "Imli" ($14), made with cranberry juice, tamarind-coriander syrup, lime, and soda. I really enjoy tamarind, and this was especially well-balanced and not overly sweet, with a nice flavor. We arrived within about an hour of closing, so it was less crowded easy for conversation. The food coming out of the kitchen smelled good. Service was warm and friendly throughout. Overall, a nice East Village option if you are looking for a more low-key spot for drinks and conversation.

I really wanted to love Jazba, but the food fell short for me. I recently came for restaurant week and was excited to try it after seeing a YouTube vlog. The hospitality and service here are wonderful! The appetizer portion was probably my favorite out of all 3 courses. I got the paneer which was flavorful and accompanied by some lovely chutneys. I enjoyed this very much! For my entree I ordered the saag, which was overly bitter. I could not finish the dish unfortunately. I hate to say this but the frozen saag at Trader Joes was way better than my entree. For dessert I had the mango and pistachio sorbet, which was just okay. I had high expectations for the food at Jazba. Perhaps it was just what I ordered, but would be open to trying their other dishes.

We got Garlic Naan, Daal Tadka, Jaituni Salmon Fish Tikka, konkani shrimp, Tandoori roti Delhi ki Tikki Chat. My faves were the salmon (spiced very well, tender with refreshing garnish) and Daal! I wish it as a bit thicker and bigger portion for the price. It came to around $120 total and included a free ride hail ride through bilt which was interesting! Good service and very lively.

There was a super chill bartender that gave me water before I even ordered, which was a nice touch. The cocktails are all really creative and unique to this spot, with bases like Himalayan gin and Indian vodka. The presentation is super aesthetic, and some drink comes with a little edible bite to go with it. Prices are really reasonable for how unique everything is, and the Indian food menu pairs perfectly with the drinks. Definitely a great place for dinner or happy hour. You can even pay by QR code at the bar, so if you're in a rush you don't have to wait around for the bartender.

Another great experience at Jazba! The menu has changed but the flavor has not. 10/10 food every time and amazing service always. Just don't forget your reservation- they get busy here!

I went here for Restaurant Week, and the service was fantastic. On a weekday night, there wasn't as much of a crowd, but there should be. The staff was attentive. The Murg Makhani was juicy, flavorful, and tender, kicking off the meal to a great start. The Kasundi Murg Tikka also had very tender meat. The Butter Naan paired well with this dish's sauce. The Shahi Tukra wasn't overly sweet. The flavor seeped into the bread, but it wasn't soaking wet.

Pretty decent Indian food in the city, I will say that both the service and the ambiance are on point, but the food itself was quite alright. My friends got the fish appetizer to share and they really enjoyed it especially paired with the mint chutney and they liked their drinks! The golgappa here was fun because it came with different flavored waters which made it unique. The green chilli chicken is not for the weak. That dish was spicy but super flavorful. The murgh makhani was my favorite and the paneer was nice and soft! Definitely a little pricey but overall a decent spot for Indian.

While I'm a huge fan of the Chef Vikas Khanna who owns other restaurants in town that are Michelin Star, this place is a disappointment to his reputation. While the food presentation, ambiance and service is top notch, the food taste does not meet the expectations or standards. The kebabs had amazing texture but the masalas (spice) tasted raw. It just missed the mark leaving me amazed. The case of dum biryani was not a little different- with a lack of spice. On a side note, this place was difficult to find walking towards it and one section which had a large glass view in was empty and not lit making me think they were closed. I almost walked away thinking they closed early due to weather but I'm glad I called to confirm (since I really wanted to try them out) and they had to navigate me to the entrance - no wonder they were empty when I arrived.

Visit this lively Indian eatery in New York City's East Village, which is situated at 13th Street on 2nd Ave. Jazba is well-known for its classic recipes that date back more than a century. They have a deep religious and cultural connection and a rich taste. The atmosphere is lovely and distinctive. loved the utensils and their cooking prowess. They have resemblance to the rich legacy of India. Their unique drinks, which draw inspiration from Indian spices, were the menu item that drew my interest. They contain surprising sweet, smoky, and savory components from unique Indian ingredients including Banarasi Paan, Meghalayan peepli pepper, Chikmagalur coffee, and more. Mulethi was the name of the one I tried. made with gin and mulethi (sweetwood and licorice) infusion. It has a sour taste with a net-shaped biscuit on top. The Delhi ki Tikki chaat and paneer teh pe teh were excellent on tiny platters. They have my highest recommendation. For the main course, I tried Kashmiri Nadru Kofta and it became my personal favorite instantly. It was a delicious lotus root dumpling dipped curry prepared in creamy cashew sauce and. Also ordered Peepaywale Wadi Aloo (potato). I ate bread - Lachha Paratha, and Tandoori Roti. Why wait, then? Visit the Jazba Restaurant at 207 2nd Ave, NY 10003.
