Jazmines is the best most affordable place in all of old town Newhall. The mole tamales are the best. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The service is outstanding. It's a cute little place where you can sit, enjoy one of their delicious desserts ( I recommend the cappuccino cake) and watch the people going in and out of the shops. I love it. read more

Stopped here while waiting for my next bus to LA (the train station is a three minute walk away) and felt so welcomed! Came in with my suitcase and ordered myself a tamale and fresh orange juice. TOTALLY SCREWED UP MY ORDER ! My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer on Monday. I was going to spend the day with her yesterday so on Wednesday I ordered a small round cake since wedding cake is one of her favorites. And let's face it, if there's ever a time to "eat your feelings" this was it ! This was to be a very special cake to show her support and to share with the many friends who are coming by to wish her the best on her journey. I specifically asked for buttercream frosting and to have light pink decor in the shape of the breast cancer ribbon and then "Go team Gena" It wasn't ready at 10am as promised, they hadn't started the customization and the person who took the order had selected fuscha instead of breast cancer pink! So I finally get the cake, drive to my friends house and after opening the cake and shedding a few tears, she cuts the cake, only to realize ITS NOT BUTTERCREAM - it's whipped cream which doesn't taste like wedding cake at all!!! So I called them this morning and they tell me they have to pull the order and speak with the girl who took the order and will call me back. Instead of the manager calling me back, the order taker called me back. I told her how special this cake was and what a huge disappointment that she didn't get anything right! She asked if I could bring the cake back and I told her no, I left the cake with the friend. She said their policy is to only give a 20% refund. I don't care about the money but the principal. I ordered an item, it was completely wrong, you ruined a special cake for a very special person and you want to give me 20% back ? Forget it - I don't even want the money but I wanted an apology which was given half assed. She acknowledged the order was buttercream but she delivered whipped cream. The tamales are pretty good, but near Christmas they are somewhat disorganized on helping. They ran out of all but some pork and Mole'. There wa a good amount OK amount of meat and had good flavor. We just celebrated two birthdays in one week and placed two orders from Jazmin's Bakery. I had a few questions about decorating the cakes and pricing and Jessica was very kind and knowledgeable about both. I emailed the bakery a photo of what I wanted on the cake while I was on the phone and was able to process the transaction very quickly and easily. Both cakes turned out beautiful and tasty! My mom enjoyed her carrot cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting, and my little brother loved his buzz light year chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and buttercream frosting. The one thing I was hoping for (since I sent a photo) was a round carrot cake for my mom's 50th birthday and instead they gave me a half sheet square cake. It was beautiful but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting to get. I love purchasing my cakes here. Our guests always compliment how delicious they are. I love panaderias (Mexican bakeries) and was already a fan of Jazmin's but the way they treated me this week solidified my fandom. I had ordered and paid for a Rosca de Reyes (description at bottom) earlier in the week. When I went to pick it up I forgot to bring my receipt and they couldn't find their copy. After a few minutes of flustered searching and me offering twice to drive home and get the receipt the girl at the counter just gave it to me. Did you hear that? The girl believed that I was honest, conceded that they may have made a mistake and gave me the item. Unbelievable!! Jazmin's I'm yours!! OK. A Rosca de Reyes is a big Mexican pastry meant to celebrate the three kings arriving and meeting baby Jesus. Traditionally there's a ceramic or plastic baby baked inside for the kids to find. Jazmin's tops theirs alternately with strips of crumbly sugar and candied fruit. Other panaderias top them differently. The French in France and in New Orleans celebrate the same day, January 6th, with different pastry. read more

Read the reviews about the tamales and corn pie and both did not disappoint. I had the chicken tamale and my mom tried the cheese one. While both were tasty I must say we were mostly wowed by the corn pie. Imagine cornbread but drenched in sweetened condensed milk aka 1000x better. Two tamales and a slice of corn pie came out to under $8! Love finding the gems of Newhall and this definitely makes my list. Fantastic food and baked goods. Small location and customers struggle for seating as only 3 tables are available. If they served cafe de la olla I would come daily. Long lines are the standard here. The service is efficient and the only hold up is usually customers' indecision as to what to buy. They sell out of the good stuff early so be prepared for disappointment if you are an afternoon customer. read more

I could not be more impressed with my recent business at Jazmin's Bakery. I was doing a Day of the Dead event at a local school and needed 9 dozen pan dulce (conchitas). They even offered us a small discount to help out a local school and even included some Day of the Dead Bread to share with the students. The conchitas were fresh and delicious and many students had never even tried these treats before and they loved them. I will definitely encourage others to do business here, not only because it's delicious but they also went out of their way to help a local school in the community. read more

Very Lousy service! Pre-ordered a cake and picked it up on the designated date; it was not there, it was not ready as the lady that took the order, a certain Nicole neglected to submit the white copy of the order and therefore it was not made. In fairness the cashier was very apologetic, but apologies is not what business' is made of- it is efficiency and quality. The cake itself was substandard; funny they were actually recommended by Clarice's Cakes but it turned out that they were not as good as they ought to be. Does not matter anyway, a loss of a single customer would not even make a dent in their business; lesson learned though, if it is for something with utmost important- take your business somewhere else as Jazmin's Bakery failed miserably in that aspect. Came in today and bought sweet bread and tamales. I spent $50.30.....Some of the bread was decent, but the conchas were hard on the bottom. Tamales were really dry and not made today. They were luke warm and hard/dry. They clearly lacked manteca. I called the store right away. According to Brenda, the tamales are supposed to be dry. I have tried them many a time and they never disappointed me until today. I was offered some sauce to go on top of the tamales. It was a waste of money! $27.99 for a dozen!! They have the best tamales and pastries in town and every time I went after posting that last review has always been a good experience. They probably got new workers or something to replace the last people, so if you want really good service go here instead of the Way Station.
